I am seriously, chronically ill, and getting sicker, but prayer, reading, meditation and the Rosary, keep me feeling joyful, even when things get difficult, because I experience God deep inside. (I also color in coloring books with Scripture passages, and write poetry, which usually end up as prayers.)

The Blessed Sacrement with adoration is what I go to regularly these days. I think added to mass its very powerful. The Rosary prayed in a group in Church with ecposition is also good of you are used to praying the rosary alone. I love joining in at Church instead of Prayers at home you get that sense of community in faith. I know its not always posible if your seriously ill. The Daily Mass and Daily Real Time Adoration and Exposition are on KZread. The Pray as You Go App is also a good source of Daily Prayer and to pray the Rossary with there Pod Cast. You should ask for the Blessing of the Sick. Our Lady of Lourdes Feast Day is coming up in February a local Catholic Church should be offering the Blessing of the Sick with Holy Oil on her Feast Day. I know a man cured when her Relics toured my Diocese. And a person cured through the Annointing a year ago of Cancer

Terry Tater yes she needs help but also with God all things are possible u must trust in God but before that u hav to repent n cleanse your spirit before God can touch U or do something for U. Jesus said with this rock God can make generations of u. That’s how powerful he is. Also Jesus - if u hav faith u can make these mountains move. Disease came about cuz of human n sins but through this u May come to know God. If u live in a perfect world then God will never be glorified. No one will hav a need for God or even know his existence. Then the point of creating becomes worthless. With love like Jesus said 😊✝️🙏📖⛪️

the one first, u must be atheist or Satanist. But I’ll answer u anyways. It’s ok for the lady because unlike U, she’s seeking her treasure in Heaven not of this world jus like Jesus said. Your soul/spirit is eternal. I’m sure she’s peaceful n content with God n all the angels n saints. Seek now your treasures here on earth n you will suffer in hell. So seek Jesus n his church. God bless U 😊✝️🙏📖⛪️

    1. Get at least 30minutes of sun on your skin. Scientifically proven to boost your mood. 2. Walk 20minutes everyday, fresh air improves the mood (intense exercise is good too if you are inclined) 3. Greet everyone, strangers or otherwise, smile even at the grumpy ones 4. Less time on social media. I fast from social media 6months of the year 5. Spend time getting to know your family from oldest to youngest 6. Volunteer - when you assist someone else with no expectation in return its unbelievably rewarding 7. Spend quiet time in church in adoration 8. You can train your brain. Positive thoughts or negative. You choose daily. 9. Saint Dymphna Patron Saint of Depression is there for you 10. Write 3 things you are grateful for and pin it to your mirror, when you wake up in the morning and before you sleep, say those 3 things.

Couldn’t help but notice that the Jesus bobble head was nodding during certain points of the conversation, as if He was affirming what you were all saying, particularly at around 25:00, when you guys were talking about how Jesus experienced human loneliness at the Crucifixion. A powerful reminder that Jesus is always with us, especially during our trials. Great episode! 👍🏽✝️

I was born happy that so many people used to be so surprised and tell my mother I have not seen such a happy child as this. I experienced some terrible things in life, and hardships, medically, and phsycially, emotionally, but I STILL felt HAPPY. I was cured of depression of 4 months and don't take pills anymore, and I am so greatful to God. I realize it was things that happened to me externally, but still inside I was happy and at peace to overcome these obstacles. Praise God and I give him all the glory.

I have bipolar disorder, and it was during a period of deep depression while I was adjusting to sobriety, medication, and grieving the death of a friend that my conversion began. In that time I learned that life and suffering are not meaningless. Once I understood that, I was finally receptive to the Holy Spirit and was willed back to the Church. I’m going through RCIA now and will be confirmed this Easter. I have since learned how to better unite my suffering with Christ’s. How to relate my sorrows to Mary’s. I’ve never felt so safe and loved as I do when I keep God at the center of my life, even when my mental illness disturbs me.

@Terry Tater You are being very presumptuous with this comment. I know I have a medical condition. I am being treated very well through therapy and medication, and have been for many years. Bipolar disorder doesn't "return," nor does it ever "leave." I have this for life. One can undergo medical treatment AND find comfort in Christ. These are not mutually exclusive.

I’m a new listener and I gotta say... this had me in tears. I recently went through a great heartbreak and I’ve been battling emotional and spiritual despair for the last few months. This video, as well as your other videos, has given me a much needed new “rethinking” on my momentary suffering. Thank y’all very much. While watching I had this thought cross my mind, “We suffer when we love; we love when we suffer”. I would greatly appreciate y’all’s thoughts on this.

My deepest joy, and awareness of God's Presence, was in the midst of a depression so deep I was unable to communicate with the doctor. It was an overwhelming depression which required emergency treatment, and yet there was a deep, indestructible joy so deep inside I was constantly aware of it; aware of Jesus holding me up even as He shared my pain. The depression turned out to be symptomatic of a neurodegenerative disease, so it clobbers me on occasion, but the Lord is always there. Archbishop Sample was my spiritual director (he was still a new priest then) and he was one of only 2 people who almost understood.

At 9:35 "A God-sized hole".....Brilliant! I had that hole in my soul, and it didn't get filled in no matter what I pursued, until I came back to God and the Catholic church. That hole has been filled and sealed. And at 27:38, the broken glass analogy. Oh my! As I sat talking with Jesus one morning, I asked Him what in the world He was doing with me, that surely there were many others better qualified to carry out whatever it is He had in mind for me. He showed me a water vessel that had been restored to wholeness through the Kintsugi art form. Every broken piece is glorified and made more precious through the process of the restoration with gold, silver or platinum mixed into the bonding agent. So He was telling me that I was more precious to Him BECAUSE of my brokenness. Tears of joy! Glory to God!

I've been getting more and more signs lately that leaving social media is something I need to do. It's definitely true; the most depressed I get is reading my Facebook feed. So much arrogance and wrong headed thinking and the searching for affirmation of all of this wrong thinking. After watching this episode today, I decided to make a big change. Unfortunately, I can't leave Facebook all together as I run a couple of pages related to my profession that I'm expected to maintain, but I decided to unfollow most of my friends (I made exceptions for very few individuals and family) and most of the fan pages that I have followed and it has left a very barebones newsfeed. This way, I'm at least making Facebook more of a tool than a way of life. So far, I love it. It's a step in the right direction, I think. If St. Francis was alive and had his conversion today, I think dumping Facebook would have been his first step.

I know many Christians who are sad and depressed. Nativity, losing our child innocence, the delusion of the magical other (romantic partner), releasing the things of youth. Worked with priests who were very depressed. Religion is not the answer. What we are seeking is seeking us. It's within us not ever external. "Make a God of no man, thing, or place....l heard that walking one.day.

My problem with all of this is, I have been working since I was 18 to build myself back up. I was abused by my dad who hates me because I am a girl. He abused me in every way except sexually everyday for the first 18 years of my life. So I very much struggle with believing I deserve better. I feel it would be dangerous for me if I stop striving for better and just give up and live and impoverished life. I feel like depression and suicide is waiting for me there. I feel the only thing that has saved my life through the years is being as close to God as I have been.

Alice von Hildebrand explained hope in the best way Ive ever heard. That what we hope in, though Jesus, is that death and evil does not get the last word. In all our actions and thoughts, if we are hopeful, we can transcend the chaos of the current moment and resist fighting evil with evil, with confidence that good always wins in the end, and not death.

Yeah, the internet is a troll magnet, as I got older I have become more depressed, when your body starts breaking down and live with chronic pain, it sucks! They say old age isn't for sissies, a few of the friends I had growing up are out of touch with reality, 3 of them I feel have lost it! And I'm not trying to be mean, but I can't have a conversation where it always pertains to them and in the conversation I'm not heard, they take it over, the one girl I went to school with doesn't even know my kids names ,she never asked, and all she talks about is her money, life and kids with no care for me, so I stopped talking to her, too. Shallow, I'm a baby boomer, and most of us have been kicked to the curb! My kids have their own life, I think most of hear that song playing in our minds, by Harry Chapin, " when you coming home son ,I don't know when, but will get together then son, I know will have a great time then", then doesn't come too often, it's sad, but this is life, you guys don't usually talk to me on here, I get ignored alot, no guilt trip, just facts! I sure your all close to your parents I'd hope you are? My son has a daughter to his girlfriend, but she's not very nice to me, I seem to be in the way, unless she needs me, I cried out to Christ a few yrs ago and asked him, Christ do you think I deserve being treated like this? And he asked, not audible, but thought my spirit, and answered with a question, he said, Do you think I deserved how I was treated?" I said, no Lord, Absolutely not! And in that reply strangely enough I found comfort, because I didn't feel alone, and him being God rejected by his creation just compounded that! So we live, we yry to stay focused and thrive, it's all we can do, thank you for your show, it helps me and I take you on as family, because you're all around my kids age, my Son is 40, my daughter is 37, so God bless you guys, love you all!❤❤❤

Speaking of ONLY myself, my sadness and depression came from a soul full of sin. I found that when I got rid of the sin, even difficulties are easier to handle. Confession ( a true confession) will get rid of the source that separates us from God, who is Love and mercy. Sin is a heavy burden to carry. Go make a good confession. That, like in my case, might be the problem.

I was listening to a radio show a while back where the host explained how she had asked a therapist if there was any particular group of people who suffered from depression less than the others. The therapist replied, "Well, it used to be the Catholics, before they stopped going to confession." And that was a secular therapist!

The disconnect from God in Catholicism is my ultimate unhappiness but Catholicism is the only thing that makes sense

Becky Hughes I struggled with the same after leaving n seeking truth seems God brought me back to Catholicism. I didn’t get certain things n didn’t want ritual picking this up from Protestants/Christians but actually it’s not ritual, it’s biblical. Such as incense the alter boys spread around the alter. God told Moses how to build his alter n incense be known that he is there n the lady who put perfume n incense on Jesus when he was invited to supper. He told the men when I came u did not honor me she did so let her story be told forever. Jesus given Gold, incense n myrrh when he was born. John revelation also about candles n incense. That is why they have that. N the offering n the communion Jesus said do this in memory of me cuz from generations to come we hav to make known his story. Otherwise he becomes nonexistent n the generations to come will be without God especially the illiterates who don’t read the Bible. N many of this generation will not do to media n internet but if they go to mass. Jesus story is replicated n told forever 😊🙏✝️

Becky, I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. I have felt that disconnect from God myself, at times. I would encourage you to do some reading / research on different forms of Catholic spirituality, such as Ignatian, Franciscan, and so on. Personally, I have built a much better relationship with God when I started to apply Ignatian Spirituality in my life. Now, going to Mass feels a lot different!

Becky Hughes hi Becky 😊, what’s your lack of truth? No church right now is perfect but the Catholic Churches comes closest on earth. Most of Christianity has some kind of corruption or something missing, Christian/Protestant Hav fellowship n Bible n prayer but they don’t hav Worship n tradition. God needs to be worshipped that’s what makes a God. That’s why Jesus as an example n all disciples went to churches(temples) n synagogues. Tradition is jus like history carried through out generations. Even Jesus always says that let it he told or known throughout generations or told forever. The Catholic mass is biblical. The incense the candles n all that is mentioned several times in the Bible. Even in Heaven there’s an alter. The breaking bread n all that Jesus said to do in memory of him the Catholics kept. See that’s obedience, that’s reverence. Keep with Godly people so u don’t drift n that the Enemy doesn’t stumble u. Talk to God feel the spirit of God when u go to church. Meditate on him. Don’t get distracted with others things or what church goers do. God bless 😊✝️🙏📖⛪️

I agree with what everyone has said. I really didn't understand the significance of Mass, or even if I believed the holy Eucharist was real (i do now.) But after reading through the bible patiently, and researching everything i could find, It all started to make sense, and it took me 33 years to reach that understanding. Father Mike Shmit has a great podcast on Ascension Presents called The Bible in A Year, it gets you through the entire bible and teaches you so much. Also watch The Chosen, it's free and it's such a good show portraying the life of Jesus and The Apostles. Everything done at Mass has a significance, starting with the Jewish traditions appointed to Moses through God, and where ever there is a Mass, you can bet God, Jesus, and the holy spirit are there. It is the closest thing to heaven on earth, and it sometimes fills me with tears of joy. That's why I will never leave the Catholic church ☺️

just a point of order , half of all marriages in the USA no longer end in divorce, this is an old stat still popular but no longer true. the US divorce rate began falling in the early 1990s and has since continued on an overall downward trajectory. In 1992, there were 4.8 divorces per 1,000 population. By 2016, this had dropped to 3.2. The falling divorce rate may have a lot to do with millennials’ attitudes to marriage. Unlike baby boomers who married young regardless of their circumstances, millennials - and some Gen Xers - are choosing to marry once they have completed their education, have established their careers and have sound finances.

I think too the other part of that is that people are less likely to marry overall. Instead of getting married, getting divorced, getting married again, etc, they are less likely to just have sequential domestic partners without ever getting married. The people who do get married are more likely to make that commitment and stick with it, unlike a generation or two ago when it was socially unacceptable to simply "shack up", so they got married.

If death was the end to existence, and nothing ultimately mattered, and there was no one to pray to, depression would be logical

Good point. I am not certain these guys, as like-able and informative as they are, have the last word on much of what they cover. I have listened to a number of their podcasts and notice a glaring lack of data and discussion that should be pertinent to some of the topics they cover. I'm not the only one apparently, as shown by comments of many other subscribers who point out such noticeable deficiencies. I'm not sure if they are new to the post-production game and need to make links or adendums to podcasts once they realize important and relative stuff is missing or if they are new to the Catholic game (as in novus-ordo new and not as familiar with the old ways, as in Tradition with a capital "T"?) --Unfortunately I won't be surprised if their monitors delete this message or even change this video to "comments disabled" status. It seems like that happened recently after another follower and I got into a discussion that touched on questioning the validity of ordinations and sacraments post-Vatican II; those discussions have since disappeared. I can't even find the video now (it was a great one about the "7 things exorcists want us to know".) Weird. It makes me question these guys a little bit. But I pray for them because I know their intentions are good. 🙏

@@beverley-memawmawclarkwhit5102 Chemical imbalances can be in turn the result of repeated behavioral and cognitive patterns. Were this not so, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy would not be nearly as effective as it is. Our lower mental faculties largely act in response to our decisions and model accordingly. Not for all of course, but those that this is not the case for are the exception and are the ones that need medication rather than merely using it as an aid until cognitive restructuring can be achieved to a sufficient level.
