Why are RVer's decals fading and cracking so fast?

Dave Solberg of RVtravel.com responds to a reader's question about why his RV's decals are fading and cracking after only two years. Dave explains there are two types of decals, one lasts longer than the other (bet you can't guess why). And he has one bit of advice about keeping your decals in top shape.
And, we almost forgot: Don't do this when waxing your RV!

We have a 2000 model Tioga Class C that we bought 5 years ago. We sanded off the horribly cracked and faded decals and painted over them with One Shot Sign Painter's Enamel. We travel about 75% of the time, and the paint looks like it was done yesterday.

I learned the 'don't wax' too late. But they still lasted almost ten years due to covering. Now it's an ugly mess on a 2008 model.
