@@potaylo hey thanks... There were no other issues with this guitar. I went through the guitar in detail including disassembly. Other than some set up tweaks, this guitar needed nothing. Must have been just a personal reason for returning...🤔

The headstock looks to me to be " Friedman inspired' and the guitars bearing the Friedman name are pretty highly regarded.

It doesn't need a string tree. The headstock is cut deeper to eliminate string trees. They aren't made by children, they are made by CNC machines.

As long as there is a free return for true damaged guitars go for it. I recently got a very nice Fender Sonora parlor size I really it and the deal. A minor finish problem on the top but it just needed the action tweaked and the seller threw in a nice gig bag the Fender “dust cover” was also there.

I appreciate your reviews of these Musi guitars. When I first found out about them, your reviews were some of the only ones I could find. I was really impressed with the specs for the price, so I ordered a Capricorn Classic HSS in Cuban Sunburst from Amazon. It was one of the last ones they had in stock a couple months ago. When it arrived, I did a thorough inspection. The body and neck looked and felt great, the frets were great, and it was setup to play very well. It had the same full-size pots you see on these guitars, but the tone pots were a little scratchy and had an odd taper. And I had to realign them. But even if I had to replace the electronics, I still would have kept it since the bones were great and I enjoy tinkering with guitars. However, there was one deal-breaker for me: the weight. It was almost 9 lbs - a whole 1 lb more than my Fender Mexican Strat. After playing for a couple hours, my neck and shoulder were sore. I hated to send back an otherwise great guitar, but I did. I play 3 services at church on Sunday mornings, so I knew the weight was going to be important. The thing that made it all work out is that there's a store called Specialty Traders that gets a lot of the returned Musi guitars and sells them discounted. Not only that, but they list pictures and the weight of the actual guitar for sale. They had a Capricorn Classic SSS in Cuban Sunburst that was a little under 8 lbs, and I snatched it when they dropped the price to ~$220. This turned out to be an amazing bargain. The SSS is even better than the HSS was - no scratchy pots, and even nicer looking neck and body. I put a Dimarzio Tone Zone S rail humbucker in the bridge and copper shielding tape on the pickguard. I'm very happy with it. Anyway, thanks for your reviews! Perhaps my story would explain one reason someone might return a Musi, although weight didn't seem like an issue with the one you got.

Close second goes to an IYV les paul copy in blue that I got as a return for $200 Canadian. It had a ding in the top from a pickguard screw. Their loss!

I’m modding a surf green model right now think I paid $89 shipped on Amazon. New saddles and locking tuners, strings and everything else stays! No matter which guitar you have a decent amplifier is a must if you want good tone, I used to have friends who bought decent guitars and rubbish amps and then asked me why it didn't sound good, I would rather have a cheap guitar and a good amp than vice versa.

Thanks for the video. Great guitar review, tear down and adjustments. I'm just a mid-week blues jammer. All I want is a good sounding guitar that says in-tune for at-least 3 songs and doesn't cut my fingers. I don't mind what the label is on the headstock. I know a pro musician that sometimes jams with a Hello Kitty guitar (he says the crowd loves to see him play it), but he's blowing away people with $1,000+ guitars. Also, I tell those getting started to have a budget to lean towards a better amp, then the guitar.

@@birdman316 not sure. I think it would still sound thin... Just swap the wires on the neck pickup (pot to switch and switch to pot) and you'll be in phase... Then you can do your ground wire mod and it should sound fine 👍

Head stock gives it a nice new modern look

I love my IYV tele. 129.00. Plays great. Build quality. Good enough. A little binding carelessness, nothing big. No extra setup needed. Could use locking tuners. Light, good tone, fast neck.

It's not always an option but here in Canada, below the listed price on an item, sometimes you'll see an option that says “ Save with used like new“ click on that and you can buy the returned open box item... However the condition may or may not be accurate with Amazon's description!

Just as likely that some KZreadr bought it to make a vid and returned it. Still, that is an amazing quality instrument for the $$$. I started playing in the early 1980's and the budget guitars from that era sucked. I went to the local GC and the number of sub $300 axes on the wall that were amazingly playable was astounding. It is a great time to pick up the guitar! (yeah, these vids earned you a follow. great playing, you really made that tele-clone sing

So may high end features for under $500 CAD crazy. No way I'm paying fender prices for a generic plain Jane off the wall tele, when I can get something like this for 1/3 the price 😁 I agree... Great time to be a guitar player!

It looks cool. I have expensive guitars. But I'd have that one. I bet it plays well and has a unique tone.

Previous video you said action was high and no relief, so were you able to lower the string action at the bridge? If not, bingo.

They should resume production later this summer with new models added to their line up as well... well, i dont know why you dont have more subscribers! you should. and i suspect you will. good couple videos and very nice playing. im seriously going to order one of those. its sharp looking especially the headstock. that finish is great. the tuners are obviously high quality. im very impressed with you and the guitar.

Friedman guitars have a very similar headstock That's actually very appealing to the eye

I didn't see anything wrong with that guitar. I looked on Amazon and apparently they are no longer available. Damn, I would have really liked to try one in Butterscotch, because as you know, Butterscotch with Black Guard Tele-things just sound better. 😄

Can you do a video on how to buy these returned guitars? Are you getting discounts as used/returned or are you just buying items that amazon says are high return items and paying full price for them? Appreciate the videos. I have a good time upgrading crappy cheap guitars and it's become a hobby unto itself. Thanks!

Cool man, it's a hobby for me too. Amazon.ca is out of stock at the moment😕 It's just a luck thing, sometimes if you type open box guitar, some stuff comes up or when they do have stock, and you click on a link, below the listing you'll sometimes see a used like new option. You can usually save like 30 to 40%... I've been looking and watching the last few days to buy more, but there's nothing interesting coming up...

The fret shields are awesome and save a ton of time from taping... Right now there is no Music stock on Amazon. I hope they have more on the way soon!

I'm not sure but someone here told me they are moving their production to a different location so Amazon will be out of stock until they resume production!🤔

Hey J-Man, you need to try out the "Fender Ultra String Guides" if you can get them. They are a little more expensive, but they work fine, and look great.

Hey Now! How many guitars have you bought that have remained Original in terms of pups, controls, or even pickguards? I have never seen a 'Hobby" with more individuals chasing after some perceived 'White Buffalo', After building a few Kits and parts casters, I look at guitar purchases with a different mindset., as in not what can I change, but more as " Why do I have to change things?"

Hmmm good point and good question. Honestly the Musis are the first and only guitars I've gotten where nothing needs upgrading... I've blacked out my blonde one and my black one but that's just because I'm not a huge chrome fan... I swapped pickups in my black one, but for the money, it wasn't worth it as the stock pups are so good!

Wish I could play like that. Now if we’re talking drums then that’s different. 🎸🎸 Nice playing.

Where exactly on the amason site do you find the "returns" I just looked and even a general search of the site didn't pull up any deals. If they are there where would you find them?

It's not always an option but sometimes if your timing is right under the listed price you'll see an option that says "Save with used like new" that would be it!

Were you able to dial in the action on it?

@@RKDriver yup no problem at all. A friend of mine was over noodling around on it and was so impressed he bought it! Great guitars. I have the blonde and the black one that I gig with regularly and they also were easy to dial in!😀

Really like your low budget but awesome stuff.

Thanks man... Most of my low budget stuff I have to upgrade... Tuners, pickups, pots, switch saddles etc... but with these Musis, they are pretty stacked right out of the box! 😁

Did you raise pickups and lower action?

Didn't raise pickups because once I lowered action everything pickup wise was fine 😀 So yes I did lower action when I did the reassembly and final set up,😃

LOL love how all these guitar makers are chasing Leo Fenders creation instead of trying to make it under their own steam. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery as they say. My tele has Fender on the headstock as God intended. Cheers!

yeah I know where you're coming from, but honestly, since I've gotten my hands on these Musi Classics, my teles just hang on my wall. I know sounds crazy but it's true!

I watched part 1 and immediately afterward went onto Amazon and found these guitars outta stock/ unavailable and no idea if they'll be back ...

Hahaha we are our worst critics they say... Some of the players I cross here in the band scene put me to shame! And there are unbelievable players on KZread that make me think maybe I should just play the spoons hahaha!

Headstock looks like a $4k Friedman lol. An absolute steal of a guitar.
