    Very relevant. Where I live I've seen a lot of people go from an iPhone to an Android (mostly from an old iPhone 6 or 7 they've been using for years). Cuz newer iPhones are increasingly more expensive in my region and most people simply cannot afford or don't wanna put in so much money into a phone. I've seen Xiaomi's Redmi Note series & Samsung A series phones become really popular here.

    I changed in the last year and the iPhone really is mostly hype. When I had Android, all the Apple fans told me I’d be blown away … but I was left a bit disappointed. The only reason I changed is because there is no more more Huawei. Else, I’d definitely choose that

    I tried twice, 1st time I left Samsung note 4 and took iPhone SE for portability and I could not stand beyond year and left iPhone SE for pixel 3. Again left S21 ultra for 13 pro max; hardly used for 1 year 2 months and then again back to S21 ultra. It is way beyond boring. Typing is hell. Limited options for camera. I am very much in love with Samsung notes.

    My only problems with iOS is the fact that... -You can't place your apps where you'd like on screen -Customization is limited -Scammers often use the iPhone for scams -Storage is rather small -You can't install/reinstall free apps without a credit card connected. -Touch ID has been removed (Apple really didn't think about putting a on-screen fingerprint sensor) It's kinda hard to decide which phone type you want but all it has to do is that it just has to meet your criteria.

    And the iPhone can't do multitasking like pop up apps or splitting the screen 😌

    My issue with both of them: Apps icons are unified, minimalistic, flat& compressed the already existing multishaped apps into a jpeg file. I miss when we had all shapes and sizes in the icons

    I switched recently, and one of the reason was that, despite Android having a lot more features compared to iOS, much of the time I never used them or they just feel clunky to use. Yes split screen is nice but personally, I found it hard to do anything on 2 tiny screens. While iOS features are generally lacking in number, I found them to be more polished, most of the time. One caveat though, is that Apple achieves this be making their features heavily opinionated, leaving you with very little customisation choices.

    Nearby share is the same thing as AirDrop, but better and compatible with more devices. Fast pair and multi-point also exist on Android. I use them every day. Android devices have compatibility frameworks so that apps adapt and don't have to be optimized per-device.

    Still the apps on the iPhone look better and are more optimized also airdrop came out 12 years ago it took google more than 10 years to copy airdrop

  • @lauren-thomas

    @lauren-thomas

    @@lesleyhaan116 not really, unless running on the iPhone is your definition of optimized. The iPhone UI is uglier and unintuitive. It took Apple more than 10 years to copy the feature set of my Nexus 4 (2012). NFC payments, Qi charging, et cetera. There were multiple ways to locally share files before nearby share.

    Another reason for more and more people switching to iPhone is the hype. Just tell a random teenager on the street about the Galaxy ZFlip5 or the pixel 8. The only answer probably will be: what? But if you tell about the iPhone 15 they'll tell how beautiful it is. I guess one of the main reasons for people switching to iOS are influencers above all influencers are V-Loger's. Most of them do day in the life's where they pick up and unbox they're new iPhone

  • @floppa9415

    I really think its much simpler. iOS has fixed many of their long standing issues while many Android OEMs has removed many of their USPs. I know so many people who had an Android phone because of stuff like the headphone jack, SD Card support, Removeable batteries, IR Blasters, ... but now many of them have made their way onto iPhones like Wireless Charging or Water resistance and the other ones aren't available on mainstream Android handsets. Also iOS has fixed their lack of customization (I'd argue iOS Customization is in many ways ahead of Android). Its also now much easier to manage files, they added a kind of App drawer so you don't need 10 home screen pages. Also compared to Google's stock apps which have stagnated in terms of features Apple has really fleshed out their stock apps. And they have started offering phones with great battery life, something that back in the day Apple was made fun of a lot.

    I have experienced the opposite. I know more people who have switched to Android and fewer people who use iphone. The days of iphone are dying because apple only copies ideas from Android. After apple copied the large screen idea, they crept downhill into a pit of despair.

    my reason for switching to ios was that i was struggling to find a reliable phone to get from android at the price point i wanted, there are so many options and not really one brand you can rely on, huawei is out of the picture, samsung has gone overpriced and other companies are still building their reputation up. I wanted a good camera and a lot of camera comparison videos conviced me to get an iphone since they have OIS which makes the videos look a lot cleaner and also just generally iphones are really good to "point and shoot", i no longer edit my photos before i upload them to instagram because 90% of the time they look great already. also wanted something which would retain its value well and iphones tend to do that

  • @ImportantTech

    Google pixels are a good option. Used ones are really cheap. But that also means that their value goes down a lot after a few years. So it doesn't retain value well

    I use to have a lot of Apple Devices. But i got sick of paying more and not being able use the device the way i wanted. Because everything is locked down. Most of App and Games i use run fine on Android. Its not so much that there shitty apps on Google Play. Its that its badly curated. If your favorite App disappears from the Google Play. You can just get the APK and Reinstall it. You can't do that on IOS. Unless you got it Jailbroken. Which is getting harder and harder now a days. I see no reason to jump to Iphone and Pay more for less.
