Why I Don't Use An iPhone: An Android User's Perspective

Ғылым және технология

Hey friends 🥳 IOS vs Android, iPhone vs. Samsung, the question is as old as the smartphone. I receive countless messages from people who would like to switch from an iPhone to an Android smartphone and are wondering whether this decision is the right or not. Personally, I haven't used an iPhone as my daily driver for 1.5 years and in this video you'll find out my very personal reasons why I don't use an iPhone anymore and why you probably shouldn't either. Review of the iPhone from an Android user's perspective.

What I’ve realised after switching from android to iPhone after buying my 15 Pro Max, is that on android, you change the phone to adapt it into your life. Where with iPhones you change the way you use your phone to use it how Apple intends you to, I really don’t like that, I would like more options on iOS!

I have the same experience with my Ubuntu Linux PCs vs the spouse's MacOS computer. I think the MacOS desktop is awkward to use. As to phones, is best to get an unlockable Pixel phone and install the security/privacy focused (and de-googled) GrapheneOS. The phone is THE primary device for spying via data collection and location tracking - neither Apple or Google can be trusted. The Graphene web installer works pretty well, but stick with a Windows or Mac computer to install from, alas there are isdues with trying to install from a Linux PC - and the command line installer is just as problematic. Sad that that's the case, but Graphene folks probably stretched thin so they concentrate on where the majority of users will install from. It was flawless from the spouse's MacOS computer usung Brave browser with ad blocker temporarily disabled - best to use a browser based on Chromium. Notifications are objectively worse on iOS. It's not even debatable. I'd take Android notifications from version 4.2 (2012-2013) over iOS's current notifications. If you prefer iOS, that's fine, but don't pretend that notifications on iOS aren't seriously flawed.

The only thing that it has that I liked was spotlight search. On Android you have to be in the settings app to search settings, you have to be in the contacts app to search contacts, you have to be in the app drawer to search for apps. I loved the iPhone search feature it searches everything in one spot. It’s easier to navigate in that way. My Android phone is 5 years old so not sure if Android fixed that. But really liking the iPhone in that regard. Besides that I noticed to most things on iPhone either took more clicks then any did on Android or the simple features like how much time tell the phone is charged are completely missing all together. Not only that I noticed a lot of things being backwards. Instead of swiping left in internet, you have to swipe right. Instead of swipping up you swipe down for search. Heck the address bar is on the bottom instead of the top on iPhone. So many things are opposite is insane. It threw me off. So after going through all that the hype didn’t deliver at all. I don’t understand how iPhone users say it’s so much easier to use or that it’s faster, or that it’s a better experience. The differences are very settle and not deal breakers either way. And overall the iPhone didn’t deliver at all with all the claims. I have to think these people that think Android is way worse then iPhone are comparing it to the Android of 10 years ago and have no clue what modern Android is like.

Did you even searched on Android if you could do that? I don't think you realize how you can do literally anything on Android, precisely because it's open (source). On any Android, you can install launchers (another concept that blows any iPhone users considering how much they can't customize their OS appearance) and install modules (for those which don't natively integrate one but allows you to from a third party) that will be able to do and look for pretty much anything on your phone, whether it's apps, contacts, messages, files on your phone, calculation or conversions, internet searches and even do specific actions in apps that do support it, like Maps to look for a place (and I probably missed some functionalities). There is nothing an iPhone can do that any Android phone can't do or can't replicate with a third party app, absolutely nothing.

It's not about what phone you want to have that irks me it's the misinformation Apple fan boys keep perpetually spreading. Like the ecosystem or the camera. That's not even true. The ecosystem is so big now on Android it's not closed off like Apples. The camera is better is false too just watch MKBHD video ware no one knew what phone took what photos and people picked Apples last for photos. If they didn't spread so much misinformation I wouldn't even care.

@@Anamae5451isnt considering you own view as the objective and only truth, kind of a part of fanboying? in my opinion everyone should use what they prefer, and stop caring so much about what other people use, at this poin smartphone market is getting boring, because all devices reached their peak and essentially are equal, and its a great thing actually, because the changes in new models will be less driven by "who gets the new best most experimental feature" to attract new customers, but rather by mastering already great devices to do what they do even better.

Im the only one that left the apple ecosystem at a younger age. I already had the common sense when i was in high school. I was born in a time where if u had an iphone u were popular in school, but as years went by, it all changed to competition and ppl arguing android vs apple. I love android personally bc of the ecosystem, it represents inclusiveness bc it has different brands but made on the same operating system, and it just feels like a pc in the palm in your hands since developer mode takes your experience to a whole new level, also the EASTER EGG of checking your update version is so fun to mess with, and finally every app is so much easier to log in to since you can login with a google account and you can choose which one if you have more than one. I believe that android users represent the future gen of flip phones back in the day since we use the same brands that made all the flip phones. I have used an lg lotus flip phone, motorola droid razr m, iphone 4, lg stylo 2, lg v10, iphone 7, iphone se, oneplus 6t, and finally google pixel 7. I bough a samsung galaxy fold 4 and am getting it delivered today which im excited about. I will always love android bc android is the most innovative and gets me more excited about technology as a whole than apple ever will. I just hate how strict apple services and or the experience is, and overpriced 😔

As someone who has used both os’s I find that android is really fun too tinker with. But doing the basics or long term use tend too give me issues that iOS never really gave me, while iOS also tended too remain stable for longer and having more tinkering abilities now then people think it does (also alt store gives me a ability too sideload so I’m not missing that)

Both are great operating systems but iOS needs to introduce more features and fix the notification system and the ability to get into app settings from within the app itself like Android, as well as the awful lack of AI on iPhone, as well as the lack of auto transcription on iPhone. Your valid key points is as the same of my brief explanation to my iPhone friends as why i wouldn't be switching to an iPhone EVER! Great vid!

All Basic Android features i like: 1️⃣ Navigation Gestures from Left to Right and from Right to Left 2️⃣ Multitasking with Split View and floating Windows 3️⃣ Moving icons on my home screen wherever i want, top, bottom, left, right with empty space or not. 4️⃣ Easy Link to Windows 💻 5️⃣ Pro Camera Mode without buying an app 6️⃣ Keyboard with numbers row key on top 7️⃣ Using 2 instances of the same app with 2 different account : Pro and Personal thanks to Cloned apps 8️⃣ File management system: massively better on Android, easy to handle. 9️⃣ Android clipboard Multi-tasking: i can use Split View like i do on a Windows 💻 with touch Windows➕⬅️ and Windows➕➡️

@@thegermantechgirl 😅 feel free to use it. I daily use a 13 Pro and a Nothing Phone(1). My 13 Pro works well, no issues at all but honestly, outside of cameras ( flagship cameras on 13 Pro) on daily use, i enjoy more NP1: things are just more practical, direct, simple. Good video by the way👏🏿👏🏿

everything you listed as far as file system and features were just introduced and samsung was the only android with copy clipboard , been using android since 2.1 and ios since ios 4 they’ve both evolved but ios is more simplistic , it’s so many “ versions “ of android most features are embedded and hard to find , but when people talk android ios they are always and almost always referring to samsung and ios , not motorola , LG - r.i.p , Oppo etc

I wanted a new small phone, so waited for the small s24. But two things holding me back, exynos and slow charging. So my question is, are there any 6-6,2 inch flagship androids with Snapdragon and fast charging? Like 60+ watt?

Xiaomi 14 is there for you. Others are available too. I'd advise you go ahead with the S24. That 25 watts charging is still fast. And it has the best battery among entry level flagships, even beating the battery in iPhone 15 by a mile.
