BASICALLY: there's been more negative reviews on steam for tekken 8 lately because bamco are pumping out tons of shoddy cash shop cosmetics while recent game updates have added new bugs. also ppl don't like battle passes. devs are like "hey, games are expensive to make, it is what it is."

@@fryrob2019 false. Gaming has become more expensive, but they also get bigger budgets. I did QA work in the industry and I know at the financial reports. Genshin impact didnt do as well as they hoped so new Execs forced them to add Fortnite MTX to make up the losses. Mind you Harada nor any of the devs pay was affected. Its the execs, shareholders, and to be honest since this is a japanese company, probably even some yakuza pay offs. This is why I along with many people left the gaming industry back in 2011 cause the writing was on the wall then. As a former QA i tell all gamers. Never support MTX, esp stuff that was free in Tekken 7 already. Buy from key sites, and watch streamers day 1. Its a shame thats what we have to do, but when outsiders influence how games are made we need to make our voices heard.

It is really sad how Tekken has changed from Free content, extra side story gameplay, FREE unlocks like characters and customization items to everything that was free in previous games are now locked by a paid wall

back in the day tekken tag tournament 2 ps3 if you wanted to unlock all the charachters you just have to log in on psn and that was it now almost every game you need to pay for something instead of playing the game again on hard mode to unlock it these days pay now or else suck it

My thing is if you buy the ultimate edition, why doesn’t that automatically give you access to everything the game has to offer? It’s insulting to give the ultimate edition as an option only to still make people who bought that to have to pay more.

This makes me hate the game. I bought Ultimate Edition too and was surprised that I only got access with new characters like Eddy but the battle pass is not included. In SF6 if you bought the deluxe edition you will have access with season 1 and battles pass.

Don't forget the competitive scene. They broke the game with the latest "patch" and pros ain't happy. Not the mention the balance issues. They flat out REFUSE to balance Azuzena and a few other characters. And they rather give us another broken character in Eddy. Pros are not happy with how its become Tekken Casino. Basically, nobody is happy with their purchase right now. And Bamco seems to wanna double down on the bs broken characters, pay to win and pay to customize. It's all one quick cash grab and fans aint happy.

All the while, good guy games like Rise of the Ronin, with no micro transactions go unappreciated.

Team ninja delivers lots of full package high effort games that are like 40-60 hours long like Nioh and no one gives them credit for it. Nioh, Wo long, Ronin all have tons of unique styles and or weapons that come base game but no one ever acknowledges it.

One of my main issues with Tekken 8 is the fact that grabs have homing also heat shouldn't have armor because we have rage art for that also another thing is rank I want to he able to fight someone in my rank not someone who's like 5 ranks above me

A true fan of Tekken here and I have play every single chapter since tekken 3, guess what? this tradition will end here, I felt already pretty crappy with tekken 7 and the season pass but somehow i could accept it as it will give me anyway tons of hours and fresh gameplay (totally not justificable the frame one) but here with t8? That's because Tekken doesn't have a competitor. It's literally a game in its' own genre right now. Yeah, I'm not gonna go play some 2d oneme fighter where I can't even strafe. We need Starcraft 2 in fighting games tbh: a competitive game created by passionate people about the game and then sustained for years and in the end balanced *by the community* , exactly like Starcraft 2 is right now: the game is balanced by the best professionals and big streamers(that are also top grandmasters of the game).

For me too. Im a Fan since Tekken 1 whom i was about 10 years old. I played every major game since then. Tekken 6 was godly. For 7 i had a bit of a pause cause i dont pay for dlc in general and wait for complete editions. Thats the Version i got there and it was okay cause it has all content in there. But Tekken 8 is a complete mess. Dont know if i will go any further than this right now 😢

Seen this coming with my byakugan. You 2 million enjoy. Perhaps I'll join you in 2 to 3 years if a complete edition is released.

I don't play modern games much but it interesting to see how much its has changed esp for a series like tekken from beating the game with different characters to unlock everything of old to all the pay for play or access.......but as the game industry has ballooned into this behemoth and gotten so mainstream I find alot of it to be getting worse and worse as times goes on....greed truly rules.....I find much more enjoyment in older fighting games from playstation 1,2,3...even Dreamcast and Sega Saturn was just playing KOF and Capcom vs SNK2 and Im reminded that often times less is more.

Yeah - microtransactions don't affect singleplayer at all, and the game offers decent amount of SP content. Though again, the meat of the game is in MP modes, so you may want to branch out eventually.

They forgot the majority of Tekken fans are Tekken elites that have played it for years - Bamco really thought they can treat them like Fortnite Kids

For one thing, adding cosmetic shop with the borked currency conversion model most of us know after release and reviews gave glowing recommendations lead to skeptical players that are now not trusting the game but still somewhat willing to pay. But when quality starts taking a hit, the fundamental game has no practical means of fighting cheating or dealing with rage quitting(don't know why its called plugging) while suddenly attacking and copyright striking cosmetic Modders w/o warning is just the worst look. Then the latest patch borks the game, yeah.... We have problems now.

It's called plugging probably due to the roots of the term dating back to unplugging your controller during a set to signal that you've conceded defeat and it just carried over into online matchmaking when people alt+f4 or force close the game on a console

also them attacking modders. Several modders had their youtube channels attacked and one prolific modder is going to have his channel removed. Now to be fair a lot of the mods were lewd (see FF XIV drama about modding to get a better idea) but some were legacy costumes. The thing is some of these modders stream and u see the level of dedication they have for the game. Gamers take my advice, don't believe any game company. Cause someone like Harada has no damn clue what his legal department is doing. And if u come at them they will just block you. Best way is with your wallets.

Believe it’s slang for pulling the plug on your Ethernet cable, used to be players would do that so if they were threatened with bans they could try and say they didn’t quit it was their internet connection dropping. Why they always say it’s good to report people cause there are legitimately some people with bad connections/speeds in 2024. But if they get tons of reports it’s harder for them to refute that.

It wouldn't be a problem if the cosmetics were new. Someone gets paid to design and model the new skins and it's up to you if that's worth 5$ or whatever. But some of this stuff is 10+ years old and they took it out of the game to sell it back to us in the shop. If Raven gets an all new Blade collab skin when the upcoming movie comes out I am sure as hell buying it and don't see a problem with that but I'm not paying for costumes and skins that got made 15+ years ago.

I calculated over this and it's interesting that they wont tell you how much the game cost to make. But even if they spent on the higher end of a triple A game then they already made enough to make another tekken and run the servers for quite a while.

It’s very simple. The game released and it was the best fighting game out. The game was extremely good in many areas and the ones it lacked in were excusable. But then, a month after release there’s a store. They didn’t tell you day 1 like every other game, they waited until you bought the game, started maining characters, put hours into it. And then as if a store selling you legacy outfits that were in the previous game wasn’t enough-they add a Battlepass in this $70 game. This $70 *FIGHTING GAME.* Hypermonetization is why people are mad.

Wait for the swimsuit skins to be on tekken shop then everyone will be well this a must and buy it anyways lol.

Honestly my favorite part of the old fighting games was unlocking all the cosmetics. I play some online but it was always my favorite just to work through unlockables. now it feels like you are pidgeon holed into playing online comp play since the campaigns are so quick.

It’s sad, This game is better than Tekken 7. But the content on here has been pretty sparse. The customization options are lack luster. If Tekken keeps going this way. This will be the last time I get the game. Last time I bought a Streefighter game was Street Fighter x Tekken for the Vita.

Let's keep the same energy gran turismo 7 received after launch when everyone complained about the dlc packs.

This also why I feel the structure for how game developers have to pay to make their games needs to change. There's no reason why they should be paying thousands of dollars every time they want to make new character models or any other assets inside the game they're making when they literally have the engine and dev kits needed to make their games in their offices. Why not have them pay by time, rather than by every usage? Have them come with a timeframe for the development of the game and ANY ASSETS they create for the game WITHIN THE TIME FRAME is completely FREE OF CHARGE. This way, they can make loads of content without worrying about overspending on their budget because they're just paying for the time of usage. And if they need more time than what they projected they would need for finishing the game, just have them pay for the extra time needed then.

Eh games were expensive in the 90s because of the cartridge based games, Nintendo charged developers for cartridges and that set the price for games at like 80 bucks. Cartridge based games are just expensive to produce, that's why cd based games blew up so quickly, they were cheap to make and held more storage dropping the prices of games in the late 90s early 2000s. Bluray disk are more expensive to produce so the prices went back up. But now with more digital games than physical games being sold you'd think they'd lower the price, but they can't because games are bigger now, takes more people to make them, bigger and faster computers to build them. Gaming is expensive. You have to pay these 200 to 800 people working on these games and when they don't sell well we always see lay offs shortly after because they lost money on the game and can't afford to pay 200 to 800 people. Basically if they tried to lower the price of games now, triple a games would just get shorter and less detailed, and we would see a ton of lay offs happen at these companies.

Yeah I never play online so have never been bothered by microtransactions. I'm probably in the minority but I play to get away from people 😊 For example I play madden, fifa, and nba 2k, which have crazy amounts of microtransactions. I just ignore them and play the SP modes.

I draw the line at having to pay to for progression. I could care less about cosmetics although I do remember when you could unlock and customize your characters in tekken with just in game currency!!!

They give pro gamers and people that game all day long the advantage, im too grown and have too many responsibilities to compete at that level, i have to be a kid again to do so.

I don't mind there being paid stuff, as long as they keep updating and releasing new characters.

Looks like Tekken 8 does have a good amount of free customizable fashion? I don#t have it but redd seems to say so. Something people love to forget is that triple A games are literally half price now. No one bat an eyelid when 20+ years ago games were 60 bucks but they forget that the price has remained the exact same or at best like Tekken 8 has gone up by 10 bucks and 60$ today is only barely above 30$ 20 years ago. For once _some_ of the monetization is not pure corporate greed but justified. They obviously all go over board because they will always be greedy fucks but to some extent it's actually reasonable because the drop in value is basically 50% by now, maybe 45% for 70$ games like Tekken 8 which is the same as triple A games having a massive discount from the start and only ever getting cheaper with other discounts stacking ontop.

This is why I hate microtransactions within fighting games

Maybe one of the reasons is because some characters lost their identity in Tekken 8

I don’t care for MTXs and Battlepasses and in fact avoid these - but what I think really needs to be stopped is the bait and switch. That’s not only misleading being that they charge the cost of what a complete full priced game is but IMO surprised there isn’t a lawyer out there suing them for these types of practices. Either disclose to your consumers that you will have battle passes and MTXs BEFORE taking any money even preorders or don’t include them at all or have them be like really menial - kinda like what Dragons Dogma 2 did. I still don’t like that they didn’t exactly disclose but those MTXs were in the first game and they listed them in the deluxe editions.

The customization on offer in this game is so limited, incredibly disappointing. I'm not going to be buying until this game is heavily discounted with several DLC bundles thrown in

Soul Calibur 2 had the FIRST AI player cloneing 2001, aka the player you made played like you when its was controlled by the game, never seen again in #gaming

Also a tough as nails game to beat even on hard I tried recently got crushed. 😂 As opposed to Tekken 8 on ultra which is relatively easy.

Killer Instinct also did this in 2013.

The big problem about the battlepass shit some off these stuff are from tekken 7 and some from tag 2

Let's not forget that there are also a lot more players than there used to be and games are selling in completely different numbers than they used to So they can stick It's that games are now so expensive to produce If it's so bad, why do it at all, let them leave it There are people who are profitable even without it Games are now a huge business, bigger than movies, it has pros and cons The biggest problem is the people in suits who are greedy and only look at the numbers in their accounts Respect For the player, it doesn't exist, they only see us as wallets With some problems to themI know, everyone wants to make money, but everything has its limits and I hope that the players will remind them of that

And ironically, Tekken 8, SF6 and MK1 are literally the best fighting games I've ever played - alas, people have done nothing but complain... Ashland Ash is salty because he's getting his butt whooped... Real MK Tom Brady is salty because he's a Sub Zero main and Sub Zero sucks in MK1.. And SF6 has a great reputation.... because it didn't sell as well as the others..

T8 has been reduced to a coin flip. It probably the worst of the 3 now.

I'm not angry with Tekken 8, it's an awesome fighting game. It's probably one of the best fighters I've played tbh.

Can't they just disable exiting an online match? Think that would solve players quitting You know you don't have to purchase things, nor do we need a video complaining about optional micro transactions

More than double the cost of Tekken 7 and they'll sell more than double in the end. And with the price of micros you could have it as half the price over an 8yr period and make the 70$

Jeeez, dunno. Bad balance, not good online, poor optimization, mtx... I have no idea, truly.

Despite microtransaction and battle pass (more like seasonal reward pass to me) being the toppest shit list of all time, well at least like Halo Infinite where as video mentioned that many premiun costumes' design but a few in Tekken 8 was (thankfully) barebone ugly, people were also upset over more bugs and issues that worsen the game yet now people that work at Bamco go after modders too. It just typical current day of industry business shenanigan where espeicially massive companies' dev teams implement microtransation then suddenly gamers disgusted just as much as italians disgusted over pineapple on pizza

It's sad that the Tekken fandom supports this. Imagine if Polyphony Digital sold the Standard Cars as paid DLC. I hate to say it, but Ridge Racer Night 2024 looks like it will be full of disappointment. Looking at Namco's current state, I'm worried about Ace Combat 8. I doubt there was a fight inside Namco.

- Give me the battle pass money - You'll get your battle pass money when you fix these damn rankeds!

Let people complain about it and am sure nothing will happen. Just remember when DOA went through this they react like the end of world but now other big companies within unique titles went upon the same process. 😉

They've been doing this since generation 7. That's why ps2 reign supreme. 6th gen is the golden age of gamimg. It's good for the industries and customers' satisfactions. Now it's basically good for the industries but customers' satisfactions are mid to low satisfy.

We cannot be this mad about battle passes. Also we're mad at MK1, the honeymoon period for SF6 is over, where's the GG Strive players at, namco told us we dont support Soul Calibur and angry at this. What's left?

i dont give a rat's ass about the fact that it has fortnite Vbucks. I just want the roster to be fn balanced and I want the characters to not have awfully bad movelists with 100 useless moves and 3 flawless moves that are easy to use and abuse and just win with 0 effort. I wanna be Lars and be able to sidestep and not have Asuka pull a complete 180 mid string and just eat shit for sidestepping the right way still. Oki is so insanely powerful in this game with some characters its absurd and Ukemi is still garbage. This is Tekken, not Guilty Gear, not Street Fighter, we sidestep and should be able to dodge things and not have strings and single moves track us with an obscene amount of pivot. Too many moves are safe, too many fast attacks that stop Heat Engage, too many dumb large hitboxes and too many small hurtboxes, Rage Art does too much damage, Rage Art should heal more damage back, too much dumb chip damage, Rage Art should have better superarmor with reduced damage. I love Tekken and I love Tekken 7 and for what Tekken 8 is, its pretty great. I still love it. but this is BS.

In my opinion it rewards aggressive gameplay but not defensive.

The problem with this game is that it allows people to cheat easily by lag switching, hacks and people who physically abuse the buttons just to get a win. A mash potato 🥔 can become a gourmet salad 🥗 in an instant

Battle pass: hey you made it to Rank 50? Good job here’s a ball from blender.

Personally, adding a battle pass with FOMO rewards and the like means little to me, since I won't be buying it as the base game is everything I wanted and has already reached the milestone where I got my return on investment. Did I splurge and get Jun's Tag2 outfit? Yes, since I don't mind a small extra investment in a game that goes towards its long-term health. What ruffles my feathers is the fact that while the patch did bring some improvements and adjustments, it broke other things that were ok. Now we're left with annoying bugs and discrepancies in gameplay that have no business being in a AAA fighting game. Coupled with this is the aggresive push into post-launch monetization that just happened to launch in the same patch, and well, put 2 and 2 together. I'll continue with the game as I love my time with it, but will not be purchasing anything until the devs get their act together and fix the bugs that were introduced.

What about we don’t buy the battlepass and be done with this

as long as gamers remember games like Dead or Alive ONE came with up 20 costumes for every player that were FREE , MTX will never be OK in fighters same for so called "DLC" players, MK trillogy had EVERYONE playable, again NO "DLC" players, Marvel VS Capcom 2 56 unlockable players, NO DLC.

There’s one little issue that you missed about classic fighting games We have to pay for new versions of the same game aka balance patches (SFII was the biggest offender for that) most of the console games aren’t Arcade perfect in launch. MVC2 removed the clock tower demolish animation and roll cancel was removed from future cvs2 ports
