Having a tan is is synonymous with being active outdoors in the summer. But otherwise Caucasians don't care. For Asians it's almost a subconscious thing. Caucasian features are what is actually exotic on planet earth. Most humans have darker skin and darker eyes. Caucasians have hair and eye colors that can change over their lifetime. When I was born I had blue eyes that changed to green and now hazel in my 40's. My hair also went from blonde to light brown. And those features are also associated with financial and career success. Especially in China and Japan. There's always a Mexican Abuela that will cry tears of joy when her mixed grandkids enter the world with blue or green eyes. Again, it's actually the more rare thing. For some reason Caucasians look at dark skinned people as exotic when it's the other way around by a large margin. And that's why many in Asia put a hefty premium on Caucasian men.

Everything we know from the West is inverted in the Philippines. Pinos like lighter skin ladies with a bit of weight. Westerns are more interested in a naturally tanned skin lady with a bit less weight. Woman in the west want something that does not exist. Pina's want a man who wants a woman.

It is cultural and historical. 1. Low income families usable work more as farmers and labourers. While high class work more indoors. Or women do not work at all, and stays indoors. Therefor the highclass families women are very lightskin. While the poverty women are much darker skin. 2. Plus all these countrues was former colonies of the west. And the west colonizers were white. So therefor as the europeans was more powerfull etc... therefor the former colonies tends to idealize the white skin. (White skin = power). 3. So when seeking employment etc... an employer will because of point1 above... automaticly evaluate that a white skin person is most likely used to work higher positions and cone from more influental family. Conpared to a darker skin person, whom will most likely come from a farmer/labour type of former jobs etc. +rich families could afford to that their daughters did not have to work... so the daughters stayed more indoors = even whiter skin. But only rich upogerclass can afford such luxury. ------ Sidenote when i said highclass i did not actually meN that they are better people. It only ment to reflect the "class"-system in society. So whiteningproducrs will almost guaranteed to be very popular for at least next 30+ years.

A young woman I didn’t know once touched my arm on the ferry and said it was her “first time” touching someone with white skin. Once I had recovered from the surprise, it made me feel sad. There are so many beautiful people in the Philippines, both men and women, that it is sad to see skin color remains such an issue, with all of the negative consequences that sometimes follow for emotional and even physical health. The young lady with the pink top made an interesting comment about the associations of whiteness and power. It’s a point I wish people explored more deeply. Although to American ears, sometimes Filipinos say things that might seem racist, in reality I have never heard a Filipino person express hatred or hostility to another person based solely on their skin color. They seem to aim criticisms about melanin mostly at themselves. Girls and guys, you look great! Throw away that G21 and enjoy the sun at the beach!

Humans most often think "the grass is greener on the other side". Darker skin people often (not always) prefer light skin and so-called white people go to the beach to get tanned and think it's looks more attractive to have darker skin. Growing up in a predominantly Caucasian population I thought brown skin was more attractive than white skin (on average). My mom and grandmother would often say to me, in the summer months, "go outside and get some colour on your skin". Getting a tan was considered more healthy, while very pale skin often looked more sickly or unhealthy. Personally, it makes me sad when I hear about people buying chemical products to make their skin lighter. The world is such a strange place sometimes.

For example, have you ever heard of people that got married young and stayed together their whole lives and then died in the same year, month, or week because they couldn't live without the other? They felt comfortable with each other. They could be themselves with each other. They always supported each other. That's real love. That's how much you should love yourself.

If Filipina could see how lovely thier skin tone is to the rest of the world, the whiteness craze would disappear quickly. There is a reason thier tone is darker, living in such a hot equatorial country. White skin would mean constant sunburn, skin aging very quickly, skin cancer problems etc. It is a problem in my country, due to the very harsh sun here. Be happy with your brown skin ladies, God gave it to you for a reason. Thank you Lorie and John , enjoyed the interviews. God Bless and take care🙏👍😊

Sadly that has taken hold of western women and now as well in the Philippines. I see Koreans on vacation here and the many women are ghostly white. Not even close to their normal skin color. I found it interesting how all the women interviewed said they were happy to hear foreign men like the Filipinas normal darker skin color but yet still obsess with having whiter skin

I think you can reduce the issue to one word, exotic. For some men having a woman that is unusual based on their own country's norm. Also having the right combination of physical attributes plays a big role in attractiveness perceived by others. In my opinion some American males are drawn towards certain physical attributes like skin color. The age of these males may influence these desires for attributes like skin color, many men coming to the Philippines were born in the late 1950's to early 1960's. During their childhood most if not all males and females spent hours outside during the summer months were both sexes tanned, and it was these summer months the first interactions on a sexual level happened. As they got older some trends like tanning salons became very popular only enhancing the correlation between sexuality and skin color. This skin color preference found its way into popular culture of those days like the song "Lady Marmalade" by Patty LaBelle of a creole women working the streets of the French Quarter of New Orleans. Creole women are sought after by some men both black and white in America for their skin color which happens to be very close if not spot on for Pilipinas. In the song itself it makes mentions of her skin color "Color of cafe au lait" and "Mocca chocolata". In America there are examples of beautiful creole women like Beyoncé, Angela Bassett, Raven-Symoné, Lynn Whitfield and Jurnee Smollett to name just a few. I can completely understand the reverse causality for Pilipinas wanting and desiring white men and wanting to emulate Caucasian women and Caucasian women wanting to emulate Pilipinas.

Not app filipina women like white skinned I’m friends with a few Filipina women and they love black men and will date a black man first before anyone else.Because they are more open minded unlike other Filipinas the Filipinas I talk to understand foreigner men cones in all different kind of races. One of them have a cousin that is with an African guy and everything he do for her and her family he does it on his own. They don’t hardly ask much of him.She told me her cousin think the African guy is rich because there always going on trips to the islands.I don’t like the controversy that’s going around about Filipina women.People add making it seem like Filipinas won’t date nobody else outside of white men and that is a lie.Are there some Filipinas who only date white guys sure but there also finding out the hard way that the white guys are so nice and sweet.Because they were taught the lighter skinned you have the more calmer and better your attitude and behavior is and that’s bull crap.Because little do anyone know the foreigner men who have been disrespectful towards Filipinas are white men.The foreigners that been acting a fool in Thailand are mainly Canadians,Russians,New Zealanders,British,Germans all the white men.Its time to wake up and stop with this praising of white skin bullcrap because imma be honest with everybody like it or not black people not going no where 😊.

It's simple. The majority of people desire what they don't have. Darker people want lighter skin. Lighter people want darker skin. It's why Americans go to tanning salons. Great interview!

White skin means you are not at labor in the field and have a higher status.I personally like a woman to have dark skin it is not a fetish either way though. As long as they are good Christians and love from the heart all is good no matter the skin color of anyone.

I think people that say someone is racist because of their preferences, need to get over themselves, stop playing the victim and put more time into building yourself up instead of trying to bring others down, not everyone likes the same things. "Beauty standards" are nothing more than companies telling you what it is so they can sell more products. Don't change who you are just to be what someone else thinks you should be, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, just because 1 person doesn't find you attractive doesn't mean hundreds of others won't. For a people so religious, God created you the way he wanted you to look, if he wanted you to have whiter skin he would have created you with it (1 Peter 3:3-4 "Do not let your adorning be external-the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear- but let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious") your beauty comes from within, not from the outside. Thank you Lorie and ladies for the interviews, you're all beautiful just as you are, no need to change. I hope you all have a wonderful day.

I just want to comment again. I think Filipino skin is beautiful all skin no matter what color is beautiful. Remember that I wish the girls that want to be different colors. Would just look at their skin. Look in the mirror and say I’m beautiful because you are don’t put products on your skin to try to bleach yourself. If you don’t know what you’re gonna do to yourself and the future ladies, all skin is beautiful no matter what color John from South Jersey in the USA
