Accidents are up because the quality of CDL driver is down you can account that to foreigners or whatever I don’t know, also four wheeler drivers are much more aggressive and selfish combine all that together you get more accidents

The quality is definitely lower for sure. The testing is much easier than it used to be. I originally got my cdl in 2012 and found it fairly easy then. Currently going back through getting my license after coming of the road years ago, it seems way easier now.

fully agree. I dont go OTR anymore but I am a yard driver at a fairly busy FTZ, and the amount of drivers that come in that can not park between 2 lines is astounding. I get being new and inexperienced, but that can not accent for number of drivers with poor skills I see on a daily biases. Rude drivers too, thats another thing, dirty, throwing trash all over the ground. its a disgrace.

It’s directly correlated to the introduction of smart phones and the new generations of drivers addicted to these devices because they where brought up by their parents with tablets always in their hands. When drivers are more focused on their “smart device” than they are on driving their vehicle they become more dangerous than a drunk driver!!!

The real ID is with the star on it from any state. For a military load they are asking for is a credentials from the DOJ office that you need for any federal facility to make any kind of delivery to. The real ID will help with your driving license background check with the military but it will not let you into a secured facilities for a military vehicle or weapons delivery to the base.

Hi Justin. I am in Midland Texas in the Permian Basin. We have immigrant families arriving every day. Most are from Venezuela. The problem with more accidents is that you have tractor trailer drivers who are driving with foreign drivers licenses. Yes, I have been told that if you have a license to drive a straight truck in Guatemala or Honduras you can operate "temporarily" as a commercial tractor trailer driver in the U.S. I don't begin to understand the commercial drivers "reciprocity". Obviously the fact that you have drivers out there who don not know the CDL safety rules that is another factor. All the best to you Katy and your children. jeff

I earned a PhD so If you're living and working in the USA there are low cost night school classes, junior college courses, online tutorials etc. etc. so it's up to the individual person to learn English. To truly function here, the USA like it or not, is an English only country!

I agree wholeheartedly. Much of this has to fall on the US Government, as well as employers/shippers lowering their standards (to no standards at all?) for new drivers. As well as the quality of equipment. Having been a doubles 45' driver back up in the Northeast for 15 years from 1980-1996 the quality of equipment was very good overall, as was the professionalism of most all of the drivers as well as expectations and standards of employers. It has ALL gone downhill.

This is just another rule to control the truck driver. Having a passport when you only drive in the Continental United States is observed.yes for our of country transportation.
