I am sorry to say this but not all artist are leaving sm. There are some. But you can say from over the years and most artists want more freedom which is understandable because this is a company not their play area. They came there to work and become idols. So people need to grow up and realize sm is a training company and helps idols have the freedom to leave! Because without this company or any of the entertainment companies you wouldn't get the idols you love so much!

I dont think its lack of creative freedom in the past, eg Taemin had very original concepts to which he contributed a lot, Super Junior even had their own label. They are leaving because Lee Soo Man left and new management and new companies are taking over who will give them less freedom, Kakao and Hybe, who are much greedier than SM ever was and Hybe wants Americanization and younger idols who have less talent but are cheaper. The only problem with SM so far was they didnt have enough money for so many solo projects.

The only thing we know for certain is that the fact that Lee Soo Man was pushed out was a major reason that idols left SM because some have said so, so the present and future of SM seems to be a greater cause for concern than the past. And staff members also only started to leave since change of management and Kakao and Hybe getting shares. SM has several idols who come from very rich families and are making more money with other things, so life as an idol doesn't seem to be so horrible there.

FIRSTLY OF ALL, SHINee ONEW and TAEMIN have not completely left SM, they’re SEMI active under the agency as SHINee members as a full group that has NOT changed. They just choice different agencies for their solo work and EXO is still EXO same thing with the members, the groups are still being represented by SM even with the members being under different agencies or their own.

Ever since JTL, Shinhwa, and JYJ conflicts happened SM has had always been critized for their abusive treatment toward their artists, but every single time it gets burried because fangirls do not care about any of this. They only like to whine on the internet and then they keep on buying their merch so it doesn't really matter. Sm is not going to die as long as fangirls exists.

Company SOOSOO is also Kyungsoo's company. Not just the manager. All right, so here it goes. Back when DBSK was the biggest group, they generated so much money, and due to their contracts, almost all the money went straight to SM pockets. Super Junio, SNSD, and SHINee also contributed to earning lots since they were so popular. But then came EXO, and things exploded. I guess SM was not expecting much from them, but after Growl, EXO became the biggest kpop group for many years. SHINee's Key mentioned that thanks to exo, SM could move to a new building. And even to this day, the money exo brings to SM is hugely important. I don't think they could keep on going with certain groups if they did not have the money coming from exo. I also have to mention Red Velvet. Those girls were also bringing a lot of income. I still think about one thing. I can't figure out and as time passes, I end up with more questions. Why did SM blocked exo from doing more???!!! I mean, being more recognized in the American market. They were invited, they were nominated, and the only thing SM accepted was the collaboration to do Lightsaver. Years later, SM tried to push Nct and Super M to be international, and obviously, that did not work out. Why SM??!! Why block exo. They could have given them so much money. I have a theory. I just think that EXO did not want to do certain things the company was asking them, and in retaliation, SM did what they did. Anyways, now I'm just happy that the artist can look for their happiness and they personal and professional growth. I wish them well anywhere they go ❤

Everything yoyou said was true. I am a bit confused at what you mean when you say, 'EXO did not want to do certain things the company was asking them...', things like what. Of course they were getting collaborations from artists from the west and opportunities to perform everywhere and as artists they definitely wanted to do that. I guess the reason that SM blocked their success was because they realized they would be too powerful (Of course that didn't work because ironically EXO is TOO powerful) and may even expose certain things about the company. If I'm being honest, if you look at their past lives and even the things they said on Radio Star, it seemed like they want to expose a lot so my theory goes like this: they tried to fight back their contracts and even demanded SM to allow them to have these opportunities. But SM did not agree because of their contract policies and which is why they are restraining EXO and blocking basic things like album sales. Basically SM has the wrong priorities.

Sorry guys but those conspiracy theories dont make sense. Other SM groups who had potential weren't given opportunities either. As all capitalist companies SM is mostly motivated by money, not retaliation, or being exposed could happen anyway, and idols are the least likely to bite the hands that feed them. It is something of a mystery, but a company will prioritize what they believe will bring the most profit, they may miscalculate, but they also do market research, so they may know better than we do. After lack of success on the US market by them and most others they may have been careful. Even Hybe so far has not been able to replicate the success of BTS there. Or they may have not been able to imagine how long their boy groups lasted, which really is unprecedented. Or there are market entry problems, eg they scrapped NCT Hollywood for reasons we also dont know. They still seem to want to create a localised group but not under NCT.

@@dear7003 Im not sure if held back is the right word, because its not plausible that SM would pass up an opportunity to make money if the saw one. Either they underestimated to potential or they did market research and it wasn't there. People forget that entertainment is a volatile business, that it costs a lot of money to produce and that few productions are profitable.

I discovered TAEMIN just last year and then got to know SHINee through my love of TAEMIN’s incredible talent. Being a new fan my eyes are not clouded by the “Good old days”. Back when it was more age appropriate to focus on teasing the youngest for entertainment purposes. As I watched SHINee’s most recent back stage videos, and group interaction videos, I started getting very uncomfortable with the clips that were chosen for us to see. These clips are the choice of the agency more than the talent. One clip was so startlingly abusive towards TAEMIN that I became sensitive to all interactions and realized the ones from SMTOWN focused almost entirely on the other members teasing TAEMIN. It often went far beyond teasing to all out disrespect and ridicule. Disrespect of one of the greatest artists of this era?! Jumping on every mistake he makes? On permanent video for all the world to see? Really? That is how they nurture their talent? Think about how TAEMIN is forced to have to overcome unfair prejudice as strangers meet him already thinking he is an airhead. Look at his MVs and you know he absolutely is NOT an airhead. I was right in putting most of the blame on SMTOWN. Both because they chose the clips and they tolerated people inflicting such open abuse. TAEMIN is now 30 years old and still has to play, the ball to be kicked, as the Maknae for entertainment? On stage in front of 1000s? I’ve watched his reactions closely. He is often stunned. He even reacts as if he disassociates. Working hard to keep his face pleasant. Heck! That is EXACTLY what the song Pinocchio is all about! ADVICE, GUILTY, & RIZZNESS are also about enduring disrespect. All of these very powerful messages about suffering from the narcissistic survival strategy. A warped and destructive strategy that feeds off the “Fear of ME NOT surviving”. Self centered choices that purposely hurt others for our own gain. What all the world is enduring right now… including our planet. Greed, manipulation, forced hierarchies, and targeting fear onto others. All so the perpetrators can feel safe by feeling “better than”. These are people who are completely lost to our original survival strategy… “Faith in OUR survival”… together thru LOVE and most importantly MUTUAL RESPECT. The two survival tools that got all humanity up to this very moment in time. What sincere democracy grows from. So. “Faith in OUR survival” or “Fear of ME NOT surviving”. sorry, but you still don't know much about Taemin. he's not a helpless victim, he's a grown man as you said, and he himself renewed his group contract with SM in 2023, and he's still with SHINee, because he wanna be there. he can leave if he wants, there's no obligations when the contract ends. SM don't only post videos of him making mistakes and being an 'airhead', they also post videos where he talks about his artistry, philosophy, where he's being a wise senior to juniors. the recent video of SHINee they posted is the one where he's being the smartest of all the members. Taemin is a deep introvert and tend to 'zone out' from the world in his thoughts, it's not because he's in shock or stunned or whatever you assume. he's not wearing some mask, in fact he's a very genuine person in his reactions he himself have said that he likes playing different social roles with different people, being a good hyung with juniors and being a maknae around hyungs. he was so happy when after being with SuperM he reunited with SHINee, you could see very well how much more relaxed and happy he was, he was constantly joking, smiling, teasing everyone. he said that he learned to really appreciate it with age. in Korea, no matter your age, if you're a maknae in a group of people you're still gonna be a maknae in your 30. it's literally Korean culture. he's also a maknae in his family and I don't know where you saw disrespect and ridicule, Taemin himself loves to tease his members. it's their way of communication. if you knew anything about SHINee and what they went through, you would know how much they actually support and respect each other. they wouldn't be a group anymore otherwise. when Taemin was receiving an award for his solo work in Japan not long ago, he thanked his members. he's not the kind of person who will thank people who 'disrespect' him while receiving his award, left alone his group members for a solo award

It's obvious your new to Taemin. He's a big boy and can take care of himself. He loves his SHINee brothers dearly and they love him just the same. His leaving was to expand his solo career the way he wants to with no limits or restrictions, period!
