Why Are Aimers Stacking Their Mousepads?

Ойындар

Stacking mousepads can help eliminate the height difference between your forearm near the elbow and the area around your wrist. This makes aiming feel more grounded and controlled.

    I've been noticing major improvements to my mouse control just from my strength training routine (even without aim training), but I recently added forearm isolation hypertrophy exercises to the mix and noticed significantly faster growth in mouse control (and grip strength, and forearm size...)! I use fingertip grip, so forearm hypertrophy exercises probably help me more than claw grip users, as the finger movement is tied to forearm muscles, but it's definitely worth trying.

    in theory I think it's better if your sens is high but I guess I can see why you might feel this way. I never really like it when things are slidy because my skin then sticks to the slidy surface. Should I be using a matte surface then? But wouldn't I feel the grains as I slide my mouse across the surface? No idea. I'd like to try a low friction surface such as a glass mousepad, but I would need to buy sleeves or something for my arm then (I don't like my clothes' sleeves being in the way)

  • @Drunken_Hamster

    @Drunken_Hamster

    3 ай бұрын

    @@TechSupportDave Yeah, if you run high sens and barely move your mouse, you probably don't want any hangups that could cause you to stick, then suddenly jerk too far as you try to overcome the sticktion. But for low sens big arm/hand movements, you're gonna be moving it roughly anyway, so having something that more easily stops you/helps you stop could give you the edge. IMO, if you've got the space, use it, and set your self up to do so. In high-stress situations, your fine motor control goes to shit, and your body only wants to make big movements. This is why low sens is predominant as is.

  • @TechSupportDave

    @TechSupportDave

    3 ай бұрын

    @@Drunken_Hamster oh i never stress. Im proud to say that i got enough experience to be completely calm in the vast majority of situations. Honestly i just struggle to see why low friction wouldnt be better for low sens too. As you said, you gonna be moving ur mouse roughly anyway, on top of the fact that there's more leeway... But maybe with low sens makes it harder to do controlled stops aften a swing of the arm?

  • @Drunken_Hamster

    @Drunken_Hamster

    3 ай бұрын

    @@TechSupportDave Exactly, there's a lot of mass moving at a relatively high speed when you use your forearm to aim. If the pad has more friction, it takes some of the load of your fingers/wrist as it helps stop the mouse itself a touch sooner while your muscles stop your forearm. Think of it kinda like throwing a ball. You might be able to stop your arm well enough, but once the ball is up to throwing speed, it might just slip out of your fingers or cause your wrist to flex/fold regardless of how well you stop the rest of the motion chain. High-friction mouse pads are like adding grip tape or pine tar to the ball and a wrist brace to your hand.

    Interesting, my hand doesn’t even touch the table, only the wrist does. This problem is mitigated by having a certain support point in the chair at the lower point of shoulder blade. My setup also has some nice tweaks like special sitting angle as well as very slight table angle. These are measured by certain proportions and documented. The difference in performance when these tweaks applied consistently vs just “trying to sit comfortably” with not angled setup? 20% of score in Aimlabs and 6-15% accuracy on average.

    Ergonomic mice reduce the problem massively, but putting mouse pads on paper/laying them on top of each other is not a sensible solution, perhaps it probably helps for some people... the problem lies in the ergonomics and the unnaturalness of using the mouse. A remedy that has a lasting effect consists of a combination of several things that can also improve AIMING or the enjoyment of gaming, which is more important overall and should not come at the expense of health. Ergonomic mouse, chair/armchair which ventilate and fit ergonomically to size, weight and allow long periods of sitting. The table on which the input devices lie on the body and the angle of the arm position. Yes, unfortunately it doesn't cost a lot of MONEY...but it's worth it many times over! Of course, in shooters and crafting-heavy games it is difficult to do without a keyboard and mouse because controller support (game PAd) is usually quicker and easier due to the interface, inventory, items, camera and menu control. In my personal opinion, the only solution is the controller (game pad) and, if necessary, additional input devices such as the Xbox Adaptive Controller.😉 It's a real shame that something like this didn't exist sooner with regards to the Adaptive Controller.🤨 Ps. nobody says that the input and the monitor have to share the same board btw Gas Arm Holder😆 Have fun gaming and stay fit in the sense of being supple😊

    @@IrrationalDelusion the pop out window at my reply twice now. I've gone into mad scientist territory at this point and I hardly ever have to lift my forearm because i ran out of room to move. I've been going hard into aiming mechanics over the past 2 weeks, I have a lot of background interest that incorporate some aspect that can be applied to aiming in game one way or another, I play music, banjo and in all my songs I use all my fingers for playing, in typing I use all my fingers for communicating, I'm a native controller player (got first console at 2) and switched to pc mainly in 2014. I am a fairly skilled player, grandmaster mtg arena , top leader boards halo, top 500 overwatch #1 dva and #3 pharo s1,2,and 3, CE/Gladiator in wow so I *know* what to do in most situations but executing that on mnk has always felt like a convoluted process that I winged rather than understood. I've recorded data from every single cm/360 1-100 until it became irrelevant (My testing range is 2.5cm to 78cm) using sensor to sensor measurement targeting every part of my arm, im talking down to the bone and the knuckle, the muscle and sinew. And I found a dead spot in my aiming, my fingers can move my mouse 7 inches total my wrist can move my mouse an additional 3 inches, at 10cm/360 I can move 720degrees on the dot. Before my finger movement was essentially inconsequential and never factored in, now it's the predominate way I look around in games. Now I think with my index finger and thumb primarily rather than my arm, if that makes any sense and by increasing the mental resolution back up to the finger/thumb from the wrist/arm it just translates better to what I was used to. So now i do all my tracking with my fingers and i kinda just point at what I want to kill with my index finger and they die it's crazy. If you turned your arm into a linear graph and you have 0.00 on one end and 100 at the other end, 0.00 would be pure finger tips, pure mental focus and physical control and 100 would be some thing like throwing your back into it. I would say I play 50/ with my fingers and the rest divided about my arm. this isn't a set in stone some thing I live by but more a guideline to how i adapt it Finger 50% Wrist 25% forearm (really just fine shoulder control) 5% Elbow up/down 20% Elbow L/R 15% Shoulder up/down 10 I play from 10-48cm/360 (with this set up) comfortably and I'm experimenting with super high sense pushing the boundaries as high as possible.
