+27657Michael Honestly it's probably just the colloquial term for it. The scientific name isn't confusing at all, it's just the mountain chicken bit. Probably something like "Well shit, we have a hard time raising chickens on this mountain. But there are these big-ass frogs around. We'll just call it mountain chicken when we cook the meat so people don't get all prissy and grossed-out." Or it's the second part only "What kind of meat is this?" "Oh... it's mountain chicken." Because if you say it's frog meat people get weird for some reason. That's the only thing I can think of. Mostly because whenever I order fried frog-legs I get these weird looks from the people I'm with and the server... But they're fucking great man. And not many places around my area sell them.

This entire video was a mess of someone completely ignorant of modern science... which is a shame because I just started watching these videos and I've been loving how he humorously delivers the truth - but this video was a disaster.

The great white shark just has a name probably because it just sounds cooler and the reason why it has those two direct colors is for camouflage, which is called counter shading. The white is used when the shark is on the top of the water while the gray part is used when the shark is deeper in the water and for the red fox, the red panda and the red squirrel scientist from the ancient times just said read instead of orange, probably because red sounded cooler than orange

I’m pretty sure the female body part is named after the bird and not the other way around

+Joseph Hodge when i typed "Mountain chicken" in google i got (translated from finnish to english) "Mountain chicken frog" (vuorikanasammakko) so why the heck it isn't just called as that instead of just "mountain chicken" in english? k, the chicken part is still weird....

I don't think whales have mammory glands either, which is where the name "mammal" comes from.

As for alligators and crocodiles, I’m pretty sure the one on the right is also a crocodile Alligators live almost exclusively in the western hemisphere (the one exception being China), have gray/grey scales, have short/wide jaws, and only eat turtles, fish, and some birds. Crocodiles live in Africa and Australia, have green scales, have more long/narrow jaws, and will eat basically anything. Also, wolves, dogs, and coyotes look very similar The one about dogs is simply dog breeds, or selective breeding/incest.

The "mountain chicken" or "Leptodactylus fallax", commonly known as the giant ditch frog is not actually called a mountain chicken. That is merely a nickname given to it by 'everyone else' and it was named the proper name Leptodactylus fallax or more commonly the 'giant ditch frog' by the scientists so stop saying they are the people making the stupid names ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

There is one major thing wrong with this. These are not what DEFINE species, its how you tell them apart from each other. There is such thing as two different things being totally different but looking exactly the same. And we use the few subtle differences so we can distinguish. They arent defined by them, simply identified to make them easier to find the specific one your looking for.

Imagine going to bar and meeting a girl and she tells you "What do you do for a job?" And you say "i work as a scientist And I discovered 11,800 types of ants"

Aligator has different muscles around its feet and bones are a bit bent so that they can sprint plus they are blue blackish while crocks are yellow green or dark brown
