Nope. The quality will be lowered down/compressed/converted into smaller sizes, resulting in a degrade of quality. It still looks good, but not as good as in the gallery

If you're on android 8 yes, but the camera 2 API fixes it. Most social media apps just haven't adapted it.

@@metsys7928 yeah, you're right, I used a note 20 ultra recently and there was a considerable amount of shutter lag and delay in lens switching. Good thing they fixed it, btw the lens switching and shutter is very smooth on Sony flagships

There are Camera2 APIs, Apple probably pays social media companies not to use them.

Android has more freedom then Apple, it can actually do this & even more. Apple is more for kids, the OS basically hold's your hand while you walk across the street. Everything you're talking about can literally be changed in developer mode/settings on Android, it gives you full control over the Android as if you're the developer yourself, so none of what your saying true. All mobile phones suck at photography due to tiny sensors, rest is just HDR and computational photography, but no matter what, you can't process what you can't see syndrome everywhere.

This is absolute nonsense. Android HAL APIs connect to the underlying OEM drivers for the specific camera hardware. If you are getting bad video its because you have a crap phone with a crap camera or the OEM couldn't be bothered to update their drivers/HAL, you are just using a poorly written app.

This was why I typically took photos and videos outside of the app and then upload them. Significantly better results

So how did an android won in MKBHDs video?

You can improve quality of video/photo by recording/shooting it in camera app first, then uploading to social media. Also, social media apps have better built-in media compressing methods on iOS than android ones. (eg. WhatsApp)

One more thing: Megapixels don't matter when it comes to social media. Instagram has a maximum image quality of 1350×1080 resolution. So even if your image is 4000×3000 (which mine mostly is), it will be compressed to instagram standards. This is the biggest reason why apple was on 12 MP even when other manufacturers were on 108 MP.

To clarify, this is only if youre using the social media platform's camera feature. Android pictures and videos still look great uploaded to social media. But your snaps and any videos or pictures you take within tiktok or instagram or whatever are going to actually be screenshots and look worse.

Samsung Galaxy RULES! Samsung had 8K video long before the iPhone. Samsung had replaceable battery (never availble on iPhone). S23 Ultra has 200MP camera compared to the newest iPhone measly 48MP. Samsung has USB-C charging -vs- iPhones STUPID slow and expensive "lightening" connector. Samsung phones will work with ANY smartwatch or other external devices; the iPhone is very restrictive and forces you to buy overprice options from Apple. iPhone is made by Communist-run semi-slave labor in Chinese sweatshops where Samsung is made in the free democratic nation of South Korea. MANY parts used in the iPhone are made by Samsung!

It's partially true, this used to be very true a while ago but in recent years they've come up with new APIs that make it simpler. Also companies are collaborating and implementing them better and better by the month and the experience is greatly improving however there's still work to be done, like some apps may not have access to ultra wide or one of the telephoto lens.

I had An iPhone se 2020, and it was really bad taking photos on social media, and that is a fairly new phone. I got an A20 after that and it took really good photos albeit only 1080p. Anyways, respect my opinion.

Basically hes saying is that android camera on social media are bad because android phones has a lot of different cameras such as xiaomi with leica, vivo with zeiss, samsung with their own camera, oppo with hassleblad and etc. so social media cameras like ig, snapchat and tikok cannot focus on one manufacturer of android because they all have different cameras. so social medias will only try to get the viewfinder to the android camera. While iphones are optimized to all social media because there are no other apple phone that iphones. but i think companies like samsung and google are trying to optimize their camera to all social medias to get the quality of their camera. Android devs already fixed it. In fact, if you watch a comparison video with s23, s24, etc, this is not even true anymore. In fact, I believe this hasn't really been true since Android 8 onwards. It's just that android video cameras, until the s22, s23 haven't been as good as iPhones, period. As for photo quality, it has been equal, for a long time actually, people just accepted the "optimization" myth.
