So far here in Canada, our quality of life is declining but it isn't too bad yet. However, I my greater concern is for the future. I do not want to wait until it gets too bad here. By then it could be too late or it could make the transition too hard for my family and I if we have to make a hasty escape from this Communist hellscape. We will talk soon.

It takes time to secure options abroad, so I agree with your strategy of creating your setup before it will be needed. You may not have the time or opportunity to do it when poo poo hits the fan.

With temporary residency, can you own a gun? Or do you need the permanent residency?

I've been very interested in what you've been presenting for us over the last few months, and particularly about Paraguay. Something you haven't mentioned so far, in context for becoming a permanent resident or even a citizen, is that there's some barriers about getting an actual passport when fully making Paraguay one's home. I'd really like to learn more about that. That and the internet speed/reliability for working online. I chose Vietnam, but getting ready to build a future here looks increasingly grim on account of the limitations of living behind the Vietnamese firewall while not having built my life the way you need to starting at birth when you're Vietnamese... so, liberty without the way liberal views and Liberal politics in Canada is very appealing.

You can convert to permanent residency within 90 days of the expiration date of temporary residency. However, the path to citizenship may not be as easy in other countries, such as North America, Europe, and Australia.

@@NomadElite I heard somewhere that even after going through the naturalization process and becoming a full citizen you perhaps can't get a legitimate passport if you immigrated.

In Asunción, yes. Paraguay is conservative. But if you keep your sexuality private, then it's not a problem. In Asunción you can also show it openly.

@@Colett_43 Thanks. I try to steer clear of any government, whether far-left or far-right, which would seek to interfere with my wife and I and our pursuit of peace and quiet.
