Tatiana is a world-class growler and screamer. Jinjer is one of the best bands in progressive metal today, Tatiana can switch from growls to cleans in a nanosecond the band does their best work live. I am 64 now and I have followed this band on KZread for 6 years now, I have never maintained this much interest in any one band like this before. The Jinjer rabbit hole is definitely one well worth taking the deep dive into.

The singer is Tatiana Shmayluk. She can do those switches on a dime. For this recording they did clean and harsh vocals on separate tracks so she could hold some of the notes, but she does this song live with the switches no problem she just can't hold all the notes out the way the recording sounds. There are a lot of good Jinjer videos. You pretty much can't go wrong with the official ones and even a few of the unofficial ones. They just added a live album's worth of them recently. Many of the best videos of this band are live. A good next one might be Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air 2019 but again pick one and you probably won't be disappointed.

And that my friend is the most tasteful female growler there is. This little miracle of an Ukranian band is breaking ground everywhere.Their catalogue is very interesting to say the least. My first Jinjer encounter was not the multimillion hitter 'Pisces' but 'Who is gonna be the one': the live version from quite a few years ago. I bumped into it by accident. Never heard of them, never heard such a voice. I was in shock, but kept following them since. Succes and have fun.

I've been a metalhead for all of my 38 years. I have 83 tattoos inspired by music in some way shape or form. I have two portraits - one is dimebag Darrell from Pantera - the other is Tatiana. Go and see them live. She gets LOWER live and deeper growls live and she switches effortlessly between the two in a split second. IMHO, jinjer is the most underrated band today.

Its how she moves her body, you have ab muscles that go up to your throat that can pull your larynx deeper into your chest. on jinjer youll see her rotate her feet and legs, that pulls down on the pelvis, that makes more room in the chest. some butt muscles are connected. put your hand on your abs, another on your throat, and only pull your ab muscles either upwards or downwards, you will feel your larynx move. getting that low, is literally an entire full body work out. if you have such precise control over your entire bodies muscle groups you can do weird things, it all resonates. and use every muscle fiber that has a connection cascading up to your throat. Im sweating my butt off just trying to use my core muscles. I have at times accidently hot some nasty deep sounds come out with no effort when im making these muscles stronger, then Gotta work on connecting everything all the way down. makes one respect their craft, when hitting the gym didnt kick my butt like this does

My Jinjer love story is very similar to many others in the comments. I'm a 54 year old who has been a metalhead since I was a teen. I lost interest in metal (and music) in the late 90s, until Jinjer single-handedly rekindled my love of music after I discovered them through KZread about 5 years ago. They have a substantial catalogue of awesome music, none of it bad, just more or less to one's own taste. Their earlier stuff (during the earlier 10s) is more straight-up metalcore, but they've evolved in a more progressive direction since then, especially with the addition of their latest drummer, Vlad, in 2016. "Vortex" is from their most recent studio album, Wallflowers (2021). For their next studio album, the music is already written (and I assume recorded), but we're patiently waiting for Tati to work her magic (she writes her lyrics & melodies last). As coder4liberty said, you really can't go wrong with any official music video or official live video, although there are songs for which I'd recommend the OMV over live and others where I'd recommend the live over the OMV, and there are some great Jinjer songs for which there is no official video at all. Decide on an approach to covering their discography (e.g., chronological, recommendations-based, or whatever) and then follow the recommendations. Enjoy!

Tatiana found a lot of inspiration from Opeth and Gwen Stefani - may be easier to see that in Jinjer's earlier songs before she REALLY popped off in this most recent album EZ. Their last album, Tati does a one take for their song "Judgement & Punishment" which every fan would agree you'd need to see. It's got a Reggae mix/vibe to it.

🔥Welcome to Jinjer, H.I.M.! I just found your channel, saw your Jinjer reaction and subbed, great reaction! Thank you for bringing the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people! I love their energy, how tight they are, how down to earth they are, the heaviness mixed with complexity and groove, beautiful singing and growling and especially Tatiana's lyrics! The first time I heard Pisces (Live Session) in 2019, I hadn't liked any metal with growling and it took me a few listens to start liking it, but now Tatiana is my favorite vocalist and Jinjer my favorite band (Pisces has been my wake up alarm for a few years and I still love it more every time I hear it, snooze is a thing of the past). TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂 Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs! My three favorite comments about Jinjer that I've seen, "terrifying levels of talent", "I hate it when a Jinjer song ends", and "that was more unexpected than my first child" 🤣 All four current members of Jinjer have essentially no formal musical training except Vlad the drummer who studied classical piano. For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies (she gets tons of well deserved credit for her vocal and stage performance abilities, but maybe not quite enough for her lyrical and musical composition abilities). Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, so he's a huge part of the beautiful sound of Jinjer, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs - I think he played piano in lainnereP) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the latest album Wallflowers. Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on Wallflowers and a few songs on other albums, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs. Jinjer has been a tour-heavy band, touring almost nonstop from 2013 to 2020 and much of the time since then (with interruptions by covid and the US backed coup/proxy war), hard work that has made them fantastic live performers. The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine (Donetsk) in 2008 as a group of three (then five) with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar 2009/2010), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members and you can see their former guitarist turned actor, Dmitry Oksen, in older videos on guitar and a more recent video (Disclosure) playing an interrogator. One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top, Mediator and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness, Vortex (as you saw here), Wallflower and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, lainnereP, Prologue and Beggar's Dance (those last two are short album bookends that could do well together in one reaction if you're so inclined). I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Pisces (live session with some backing tracks), Perennial (official and/or live at Wacken 2019, both are must-see), Teacher Teacher (official is the studio audio with some great footage from several shows), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance, again both must-see), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv, a third where both are absolutely must-see) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Thank you H.I.M.! I hope you'll keep trying out more Jinjer songs and enjoy! ❤🖤🤘

Subbed to follow your journey through the Jinjer rabbit hole!!! This is going to be fun!!! There’s so much to suggest but I would say what would be fun is to react to the same song live from 2023 Wakken. It’s a 15 min video and this is the first song and the production is incredible and she’s really on that day and you can see what she does live!! I’ve only seen one other person react to to that particular video again Jinjer live Wakken 2023 first song!!

Interesting that Jinjer was a bit influenced by Courtney's previous band Iwrestledabearonce. As Jinjer members said one of their earlier song Walz was maid as a reaction to Iwrestledabearonce's music. As I know Courtney and Tatiana are fellows, follow each other's social profiles etc.
