Yes some are no more then wandering tribes, seeking out their own gains, but there are many all working towards unified goals that wouldn't seem to have any correlation unless you were one of them. Total victory over chaos is an Utopian ideal. The Alpha Legion have come to appreciate that Utopian goals are ultimately counter-intuitive to species survival. No power can engender, or force to be engendered, a state of perfection, because perfection is an absolute that cannot be attained by an imperfect species like the Cabal. It is better to manage and maintain the flaws of man on an ongoing basis. Even if it means to dooms the emperor and mankind to suffering. The Alpha Legion need to play 3 sides, loyal, traitor and the Cabal. Alpharius hade to turn traitor to make sure the Cabal did not interfere in the war and need to make sure that Horus didn't win.

I always find it funny that people believe the legion based on misdirection, infiltration, and sabotage sincerely joined the traitors. They never ask why would Alpharius trust the cabal at all? Spies aren’t known for their trusting nature.

Alpharius was not willing to sacrifice humanity. He fights to save it even now.

They love being a unknown agent, the kinda people that would someone sneak a Penguin or Chicken into the Office just to do it. If he came out into the Light and showed himself then that would be a different thing, it easy to backstab your enemy and clear out groups with underhanded tactics, another to do that in the Light and probably more skillful to.

Alpharius was the greatest primarch because...unlike him, his brothers treated the mortals who formed the auxillary forces which were the vast majority of their legions as little more than chattel-at best, medieval peasants (Ultramarines) and at worst, cattle (Night Lords). Alpharius was the only primarch who actively recruited talented, exceptional baseline humans for his legion, put them in positions of responsibility and gave them tools, skills and the power to make executive decisions in the field and generally treated them as valued and full members of his legion. In this respect, Alpharius acted like the general of a modern professional army, while the rest acted like ye olde kings who imagined that all the important business of winning wars was done by a small group of heavily armoured knights on horseback. That ignores the fact that said knights couldn't even get into their armour, let alone mount their horses without a team of helpers. In any war, the side with superior logisitics and intelligence wins. In a straight conflict between the Alpha Legion and any of the other legions, the 20th would have won simply because their human support staff, field agents and logistics crews had superior training, equipment and motivation, and were trusted to make independent decisions. Outside of their space marines, the other primarchs had nothing but illiterate serfs who were generally more terrified of their masters than they were of the enemy.

I thought so too. Even though I enjoyed a number of them. I didn't go much on Vulkan's or Russ's, but I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Fulgrim's and Angron's more than I thought I had any right to. But I still think Alpharius's is my favourite; it has a different feel to it that was fun.

The outcome of the Horus Heresy was a self-fulfilling prophecy.

No thats not the case in the lore due to Alpharius’s interference and other factors the future went out of there control and now they don’t know what will happen (yes the emperors on the throne but no humanities fate is no longer certain)

This was great! Alpharius though, maybe not the absolute best is not given enough credit. Him and omegon as a unit are always in my top 3

IF there is such a thing as 'winning' the Horus Heresy, as opposed to merely surviving it, the Alpha Legion and Ultramarines would be it's winners. The Alpha Legion lost a negligible sum of marines during it. They had their ships stalemate a few loyalists, but they weren't really fighting. They lost some marines and possibly a ship or two during the battle of Pluto. They lost Alpharius's body (not his mind, that was implanted in one of his captains) but otherwise? Otherwise, they got through with barely a scratch. They were at like, 3 big battles, but even then, they dipped out of those battles fast. The Ultramarines likewise, sat out most of the heresy. Oh, Calth, for sure, but that's one planet, and it's orbital dockyard. They were reinforced by getting an influx of marines from the lost primarch's legions. Then they mostly hung out in Ultramar.

This traitor really got a video before Corax, the Raven-lord had Primarius level Marines in the Heresy thanks to the Emperor, without the intervention of the Alpha Legion... He could have made a significant difference at Terra or devastate Horus's supply lines even more than he already did.

Hopefully GW doesn't waste the "sword in the darkness" idea behind Alpharius and give him an epic and extremely convoluted comeback in 40K

The Alpha Legion who change their color to purple and become Crocodiles of Slaanesh (Night Lords become Dragons and Emperor's Children become Serpents), along with their Primarchs Alpharius and Omegon. The Chaos Symbol of Slaanesh symbolizes the Dark Ice Moon (in various lunar forms). Might not be the greatest primarch but I lean towards either of the twins being ultimately loyalist and therefore a favorite of mine. Have loved the alpha legion and their primarchs since learning about them plus the alpharius primarch novel was awesome

If it was a normal war Alpharius and Omegon would of had this in the bag but their enjoyment of a well sprung trap and "immortal" foes who should know every step they play will hinder them. They pride themselves in being so good they could take out a threat without it even knowing it died but.. how do you do that to a extraordinary ball of c h e e s e? Great video rho I could, in some crazy upside-down universe, agree with Alpha being the best, but I would have to see one thing, and that is his Legion do some thing Legión-Like, post primarch death. I’ve seen space marine chapters that are more active than they are. The problem with the hydra is everything has to be kept secret, and the problem with everything being kept secret is now you have no supporting evidence for them being the best. Alpharius was found first and on Terra huh? Well that means to me that Omegon is the "original" and launched into the Warp. This is just hypothetical but I think it's highly suspicious that Alpharius is the only Primark left on Terra. After all Alpha invokes the concept of the first and it would be the greatest twist if he is the clone.

Very interesting. What if big E had enough resources to make a clone of the last primarch he created before they were spread across the galaxy. It would certainly help with the big set back caused by chaos. This is why theyre one of my favourite legions, their whole schtick makes us use our imagination even more

It seems intentional don’t you think and if you read the lore you would know that there is a legions worth of alpha Legionaires under the imperial palace on Terra as well as those who still follow Alparius/Omegon in the warp. They also have a strong presence in the galaxy with up to date kabals that forage for current knowledge and technology like tau weapons and primaris tech so basically they have all the tech and information advantages pre heresy and guillimans return just minus a primarch. They have managed to infiltrate an unnumbered amount of loyalist worlds and Abbadons black crusades so there kinda on the line up to be the strongest legion power wise.

The game they are playing is the most difficult and complex that basically leaves no rooms for even the smallest error. Which book mention of them having a detachment on terra during the 40K era? @@sky-nr1ld well it depends on who fucks it up since the alpha legion are spread out into what basically amounts to terrorist cells that manage to fuck up all the time (basically the “renegade alpha legionaire kabals”) Here we’ll split it into groups 1. Old alpha legion currently in stasis (competent) 2. Renegade alpha legion cells (semi-competent but tend to be used as disposable villains) 3. Alpharius the surviving twin (seen as a monster in the deep basically mysterious shit happens people go missing etc extremely competent)

The whole objective was to protect humanity and ensure its survival. The plot line of siding with Horus to defeat chaos at the expense of humanity is idiotic. It wasn’t his decision to make. Nor would the emperor support it. He could have discussed his meeting with the cabal with his father or Malcadore. Alpharius was just a prideful fool who thought he knew best (like Magnus).
