Welcome to MASpets! A channel dedicated to providing high quality information about exotic, alternative, and unique pets, as well as traditional ones. This channel supports the freedom of pet owners to care for the species of their choice as long as that animal has been shown to thrive in human care under the right conditions. We strongly believe that facts and education, not admonition, is the best policy for encouraging potential pet keepers to choose the best pet for their living situation. We believe there is no such thing as a ‘good pet’, and do not promote any particular species as pets, however we understand that the desire of some to own something different is essential to their expression and existence as an individual. Whether you are considering a pet, or are just interested in the subject, this channel invites you to become informed about the exciting world of animal diversity.
There are hundreds of species of exotic pets! Some examples include: fennec fox, porcupine, serval, wallaby, boa constrictor, rainbow crab, bush baby, zebra, squirrels, ostrich, kinkajou, macaws, springhare, lemur, leopard gecko, tarantula, capybara, sloth, owl, cockatoo, muntjac deer, lion, short-tailed opossum, raccoon, scorpion, green iguana, and more.
Domesticated exotic pets include domestic rats, hamster, gerbil, goldfish, guinea fowl, Bengal cat, peacock, fainting goats, and sugar gliders.
We post introductory videos to animals that can be kept as pets, care tips, address controversies, legal issues, and more. Please see the posted links for more information about this subject!

I think a narrative like would suit better to crocodiles, but that still doesn't address the source of the problem and solutions that can help as with many other wild animals.

“If an animal like a bear kills someone because it is defending its cubs, it will not be recommended to euthanize them for they are acting in normal healthy behavior and is not intentionally seeking to kill humans”. If a bear of any other animal trying to protect its babies charges or swings at a human to protect them, they are definitely intentionally trying to kill them. If that is normal and healthy behavior then eating a human because an animal is hungry is too. Also you said that animals trying to hunt humans are dangerous. But animals attacking humans to defend their babies are too, and their behavior can also be taught to their young. These are some poor points they contradict your claim.

I think you miss the point that these animals attack because we are invading their territory, so rather than kill them we should simply teach people how to keep a safe distance so that no one needs to be hurt including the animal. And when you consider there have only been 30 fatal gator attacks in Florida since 1948, despite all the water activities Floridians often do, it goes to show that these animals aren't just vicious blood-hungry beasts and they aren't deliberately hunting humans for food.

For a video that advocates turning other wild animals that have no problem eating humans into pets to save them from extinction this sure is ironic lol

No you made that up, never said that. This alligator could possibly be safe to keep as a pet however, with a shallow pool.

@@Maspets are you seriously suggesting that big cats and honey badgers are not more dangerous than alligators? Nice joke if it is. While I do see and understand your point, I have to question your shift to a fear-mongering tone here. Your narrative can apply to any medium to large animal from north america or elsewhere. Bengal tigers eat far more humans in South Asia than american alligators in a year, despite the fact that alligators are really common. Even the adored elephants kill far more people in the same region. Alligators kill a lot less for a dangerous large animal, especially when compared to their crocodile cousins. Man-eaters are not limited to reptiles, but also exotic mammals. Alligators have been kept as pets for decades, and have the same record as any other exotic pet. Gators that killed people or have eaten pets are not always put down, but sometimes moved to alligator sanctuaries where they will be held there for the rest of their lives. Some saltwater and Nile crocodiles have also been given the same sentence. Dogs that have mauled people to death are sometimes returned to their owners, taken to shelters, or given to another owner. Why the panic and outrage when it's an exotic reptile? How is it different than an escaped caracal or tiger or wolfdog?

@@feliformcraze9306 My reply was pretty short and concise. I clearly stated the alligator could be kept as a pet with a shallow pool. My video also states that captive-bred alligators are not dangerous, and I always say that "big cats" are inherently dangerous. I don't understand where you're getting all this. Any animal can be kept relatively safely if you don't handle them directly or enter their enclosure. Alligators mainly kill by dragging you into the water, hence why I said shallow pool. If the alligator gets a hold of you, its instinct is to drag you under, but it can't do much if it can't drown you. You also know its there, unlike this unfortunate victim who was ambushed. I wouldn't be too comfortable knowing an animal has been 'trained' to kill. Alligators that have killed humans should not be in a wild environment. Alligators are killed all the time for food, there's no point trying to preserve it. Can you point out one example where a dog that has killed wasn't euthanized? I'd be astounded. Unless the victim was a burglar, that should not happen, period.
