my first rig was a 2012 f350 srw and a 2015 38'11'' carbon all in i've got $64k into both and the floor plan we love! i almost got a unit for 55k alone but was compromising on things, i thought i needed to spend more, best thing for me i was talking to a tehc, about them NOT a sales guy! and taking the advice i got on this channel, about making a list of what you really want in a unit, ended up saving us a boatload of money! so i thank you for that Sir! buying used and waiting for the right deal and being able to walk away was key!!

You recommended a Salun tire for trailers so we decided to look at one for the motor home. Then decided to put them on. So far happy. Specs are good and could not find anyone that had problems. We got the 19.5 G rated tire. Price amazing.

My father has always told me don’t worry what other people say only worry when they pay your bills. If you want it and can afford a $150,000.00 RV get it you are the one paying for it enjoy your life you only get one go around.

Look at the Toyos. I have run them on two rigs. They improved the ride and we're quiet even with agressive tread. Fifth wheel - we love our Grand Design. Really wish I would have run across your channel sooner - I would have gone for the 450 over the 350 we have.

I enjoy your videos and find that you explain things in a way that a non mechanical 59 year old woman can understand. I have never driven anything larger than a Ford sedan so I know nothing about the trucks you review, but since I want to buy an RV I need to understand what I need to tow it. Your videos have all the information I am looking for in a format that even I can understand :) Plus I really enjoy your walk throughs of RVs.

19.5 tires - Michelin XZE I think is what I had on my Class A - nice and quite on the road - the tire description says sidewalls 3 million miles and 3 retreads. LOVE the tire... mine were Load Range F if I recall ( max pressure 120 psi) Have run Michelin on all my vehicles since I was 4 years old ( okay, Dad did) - currently running Michelin Defender LR E on my F150 for the extra stability for towing, yes probably overkill, but I do NOT worry about tires while towing... just have to do a lot of pressure adjustments ( 50 psi rear empty, 74-76 psi when I tow) but they are nearly silent on fresh pavement and the traction is wonderful and they stay cool - just pulled for 3K miles over concrete ( nice and well maintained to really rough), fresh and old pavement and they did fine - better than fine. Hope this helps

Great video, IMHO a camper will never have everything you want, because you think you have thought it all out, and then you use it a few times, and you're like, man I should have thought of this or that. Our current 5th wheel is a rear living with the kitchen sharing that area, now that we have had 3 years we really like the front living RV's. So I think we can never fully get everything in what we want in a RV, close but not everything,

Goodyear G622. You want an aggressive 19.5 tire, that is the one. Not the best for longevity but they bite in all conditions nd they are tough. I have a fleet of ambulances that run the mountains of Colorado in the snow. That is the tire I run for optimum traction.

Great channel - quick question: Have you thought about / looked at a toy hauler for the extra sleeping / activity space? Use the garage as a "durable" living area - plenty of sleeping space that can be cleared out for eating, games, muddy or sandy kids / pets....pluse, you can open the garage door for a more "open" floor plan - even during rain. The more I look at toy haulers, the more I like this idea. Keep up the great videos - let me know if you plan on wandering up to Michigan...

We purchased a 2018, one very important consideration was having a minimum 12" drop frame. With regards to fixing and upgrades, that why we choose a fifth wheel, have had a few problems (repaired them myself) for instance a hydraulic line developed a large bubble, called Lippert and they sent me a new one free of charge. heard good things about the Toyo M920's.

The Columbus 1492 unit you viewed was simply a beautiful rig. I had never seen inside any of those units, 1492 series, they all would work for me. The Montana High Country 5th Wheel-362RD, is a very affordable bunk house, then when kids are gone turn the rear den into your man cave. Thanks for video. Hey there! New fifth wheel camper owner here. We looked at a lot of floor plans and purchased the 2019 Crusader 365RKB. Would you be able to do a thorough overview of it? It's huge (almost 42 ft), spacious (4 slides), my daughter has her own mid bunk room, and we have the king bed in the master. The kitchen is in the very rear of the unit with living space just before that. I pull it with a 2017 F-250 with the 6.7L with ease. It has metal bonded construction, whisper quiet AC, and auto-leveling system. We picked this up for just under 50k.

Making an RV just the way you want , is like saying your done working on your home, ...You're never done. ....We just traded fifth wheels for similar reasons, we kept the same basic floor plan, and just opted for some of the nicer options, auto level, drop frame, better furniture, wider body, ...just a bunch of small items that made a big impact and we are very happy we did. It is definitely hard to justify the cost involved, but we decided to bite the bullet and do it. We now have the nicest fifth wheel for us, to date ( 2018 Forest River Cardinal 3655 )

Again, the Michelin XDS2 is a great tire. More aggressive than the original Conti, yet far smoother and far more stable especially towing. They sing a bit, but it grows on you... living in Ohio, which uses 10x more salt than necessary, I have two sets. One set is all steel wheels and my summer set. XDS2 is a phenomenal snow tire and good in mud, although I did get stuck in red clay/grass a couple weeks ago. I tow a 43 foot horse/RV trailer. AAA Premier RV winched me out. Your nice bumper winch would not have worked in this case-no place to grab or hook to. 😩

We will be getting out of a travel trailer and going with a mid bunk 5th. So far I am really eyeing the Cedar Creek Silverback 37MBH due to the loft having steps instead of a ladder to trip over in the hallway. I can not find another floorplan that uses the steps over the ladder or they would be a consideration.

Hey boss I just wanted to say thank you for what you do, and show us, and share with us.. I tried to find your video from your 1st or 2nd install of the B and W 5th wheel hitch Because I was looking for a specific Video that you shared on what you did to lock that hits down so somebody couldn't come up and just take it out of your truck I think I remember you had some special lock or something that you lock the handles so no one could remove it from your truck. I just recently got my 1st B+W Companion hitch like yours and I love it, but I wanna make sure that I can lock it in the truck and no one can take it out when I'm inside somewhere. So if you could point me in that direction or show me what you used I would greatly appreciate it... Anyway thanks again talk to you soon

Hello again, Mr. BTBRV. I see you are looking for a new 5th wheel with some specific features? I have asked you a few times before to do a video of a Montana 5th wheel. I still have not seen a video from you, but I bought my 2018 Montana 3560RL anyway. Have you taken a look at the 2019 Montana 3950RL? It has many if not all of the features you are seeking, like the loft, day roller shades on all windows, additional separate bedroom (bunk area), auto leveling, king size bed, the drop frame construction for outstanding lower garage storage, your preferred Sailun tires, and the MorRYde fold down steps. I bought the 3560RL for my wife and I as a couples coach, but you should take a look at the 3950BR. KZread has a great full length video by Ian Baker. I have watched many videos of 5th wheels, and this guy does one of the best jobs speaking to all the details. Hope this helps. Phil

I am going to have to drive several HUNDRED miles west to get it; but I have decided to get a Outdoors RV that is made in Oregon. The quality is unmatched at that price point.

You cannot go wrong with them. Same folks that make the Arctic Fox brand. I’m on my second one and love it. Best deals seem to come from the dealers closest to the factory like la grande or boise.

Just curious, would you recommend an F450 over an F350 for towing a fifth wheel with a gvwr of 15500 lbs? Looking for a new truck to replace my Chevy 2500 short bed, mainly because towing that amount of weight is very tiresome! All recommendations welcome.

the only reason to me is the significantly tighter turning radius. Super handy when parking and backing in a fifth wheel.

then why is it not required to use ONLY a dully for cab over campers? as some of them get very heavy, and all of them are very top heavy and make great wind sails.

Omgosh the whisper quiet a/c, auto-level & day/night shades are all a must have. I'm especially thrilled over the more quiet a/c personally. What I'd like to know is what you've done to your pickup to make it worth 90k? For the past 2 years I've been looking at fully loaded pickups (my favorite of course is the GMC Denali or Sierra 1 ton or 3/4 ton diesel...never gas) and the stickers top out just under 65k at the highest. I'd love a tour of your truck! Old videos on that? I also had the chip put in mine when I bought it but sadly it was broken into and stolen (damaged my interior) for something that they I'm sure have no idea what it's for nor can use. That car at 5:55? Yeah he'll wipe out someone who is innocent and he probably doesn't have insurance, smh! Edit: I'd rethink that king sized bed!!! That's what we went this last time and although I love the roominess of it trying to put the sheets on it weekly and (omg) the mattress cover is a challenge. I'd never go king again, you simply lose too much room. You don't realize how much difference those extra 12 inches make until you're stuck with it.

Great points and good question about my truck. So the sticker price of my truck was $84,500. I have driven a 2018 Denali Dually that had a $75,080 sticker, but not sure what features it has that the ones you built did not. In regards to accessories added to my truck, Ive added nearly $15,000 in upgrades ranging from the custom paint matched front and rear bumpers to the suspension, accessory and lighting enhancements. The reason my truck carries such a higher sticker prices is mainly because of all the technology features that currently are not available from other manufactures, such as a true 360 degree camera system (with selectable side view only cameras), Radar Adaptive Cruise Control, Massaging front seats (true massaging and not just vibration), Actually Cooling front seats (not just ventilating like GM and RAM), higher end leather interior (on King Ranch), Tailgate step, full LED lighting (vs just accent lighting on GM and RAM trucks), much higher max towing capacity (8,000lbs+ greater than the max towing of 23,100lbs from GM trucks), significantly more rear seat legroom (7" more leg room), Rear AC vents for back seat passengers, Dual Pane Sunroof, Completely powered Towing Mirrors (with Power Extend as well as folding vs GMs folding only mirrors), 3" Trailer Receiver (vs 2.5" on GM), Dual Layer side windows (noise reduction), 400watt AC outlets, 19.5" 10-Lug Commercial Wheels, DANA M300 Medium Duty Axle, and the most important to me is the Wide Track front Axle. It gives the F450 a 7.5ft tighter turning radius. So all of that plus more custom luxury trim appearance options (Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited) to meet specific customer cosmetic likes. All of these "features" would add to to well over the $10,000 difference in price between a fully loaded Denali 3500 and the F450 (Plat, KR, or Limited) truck. Hope that helps.

Big Truck Big RV. Thank you for all of the information! I'm still drooling over your "real" massaging seats. My poor surgery ridden spine could really use that! In both of our GMC's (the pickup and the Suburban Denali (full length) we have seperate a/c vents with personal climate control on each. That comes in handy because I'm always too hot when everyone else is too cold. I'm seriously loving those upgrades you described. 👍

The "Delete" question always comes up when your talking about newer diesels. Personally, I am in favor of it. My solution is to keep all the original components so if you decide to sell they can either be reinstalled or offered to the new buyer. Problem solved, in my opinion, just saying. Love the vids by the way.

Did you know that if you take your deleted truck into a dealership and they find that it’s been deleted they can’t return the truck to you until it’s been restored to factory original condition. That’s an EPA requirement.

A big, fat, wet raspberry to all the naysayers. If someone wants a $65K trailer, good. Get it. Want a $150K fiver? Good. Get it. I'm sticking with my older diesel /34 ton (will be fixing it up) and converting a cargo trailer into an RV. Fine for me- might not be for someone else. That's been the beauty of RV's since the 1920's- the owner can build/buy/remodel any way they want, as long as it fits DOT standards. Other than that, HAVE FUN!
