I won’t quit, but I’ll say I’ve thought about it, because my teammates are jerks, and my coach doesn’t help me out. At the beginning of the school year my confidence began to plummet because I kept making stupid mistakes, which led to me making more mistakes despite getting better. I feel like if I quit, it may all stop and I’ll feel better, but I love playing, that’s the whole reason I’ll keep going.

I chose to quit because all my buddies joined a travel team and we couldn’t afford it, looking back at it now I just wish I tried out for the school team; I was definitely good enough and it was within our price range. Luckily 7 years later I’ve fallen in love with the game again, now I just need to start an adult league (because my area doesn’t have one) and I’ll finally be able to play another match.

In the US, it’s the cost of academy and clubs and their location. Luckily, I lived in a populated location, but many rural areas don’t have top-level competitive leagues and clubs / academies. Traveling is also an issue as all the states aren’t connected like the UK. We have horrible transportation

I quit because I felt that I wasn’t good enough even tho people used to say that I was one of the best on the team, I played for a few teams here in my city and even played for 1 and a half month for a top tier team for their u-17, but I didn’t have money to pay for a manager so it was very difficult for me to keep going. Some of the guys I met at that time had their fathers as their managers, like Neymar did, but shortly after I got into the team my dad passed away, I didn’t got depressed or anything like that, tbh it was more like a fuel to me to keep playing, but at the same time I saw guys that were horrible getting a pro signing and that happened just because they had the money to pay for a manager… So yeah, that’s why I quit when I was 17

I quit for a few reasons. 1 wanted to get into another sport which took to much time. 2 at age 12 everyone has to join competitive play. And 3 my my coach put me in my worst position possible. And no this wasn’t like I I wanted to score goals but I actually got put in as a forward even though I put years into defense and keeper either would have worked. 4 even if I wanted to improve I would get 2 mins of playing time when everyone else got far more in grade 6 remember. 5 my teammates were spoiled rich and would mess around on the bench and annoy and mess with me along with the few others who wanted to focus on watching or getting ready to play and then convince the coaches it was us. That is why I quit playing but I found another passion so that’s cool

If you are thinking of becoming a soccer/football player, be realistic to yourself and know that there are only 11 people on the team you want to play for. U have to be better then the millions that want what u want. If you think u gonna make because your the best out of your friends then I am sorry to say but thats not enough. Make sure u have back up plans in case it doesnt work out. I have seen too much in this industry.

I have played so many sports but football will always be my favourite. Now since last year I started Athletics and I see the difference: in football many things don’t depend on you, maybe sometimes your teammates see you as an enemy and in general I see too many people with ego that end up in nowhere, meanwhile when I run or jump every single improvement is a Win. Do I regret playing football? Not at all I wish I was better, but I see what are the problems and I get why so many people quit.

I quit football at 11 to pursue swimming because I was getting better and couldn’t do both due to training clashes. I was enjoying my swimming and improving well but then my 2 coaches left and I got a new one that I had previously had. She was good but was getting old and decided to retire. Then they brought in a coach that i didn’t like and I got injured. When I came back I really lost confidence and my coach did not help and then I just started going less and less until I quit.

The reason I quit, was because of my defense skills I guess or maybe I’d assume they didn’t like what I was doing on the other side of the team. So the first half of the game, I was pretty elite at defending, no one would really get past me much, I was doing clean tackles and taking the ball away multiple times. I guess everyone on the other side complained because I was playing aggressively clean defense. Into the second half, they really got mad at me and started shouting so I taken out the game because parents on the other side thought I was not of my age or was playing dirty even though I wasn’t. I was just really good at defending I guess. So once I got taken out , I told my dad I was never playing football again because I did not like how whiny everyone was towards me and kept crying because I was either too good or not my age bc of my skills. They thought I was older than 14 at the time. So yea that’s why I quit, I didn’t want to keep playing with sissys I guess, who kept complaining about me.

I quited football when i was 10, i cried because my father told me "you need to fucus on your studies" because in my country there is no career on Football and the parents think only studies have scope on the jobs. They think football have nothing to do with money or any job. I regret quiting it
