Спорт

The 2010 F1 teams joined the grid at a difficult time. They were doomed to fail in the sport and they ended up all leaving within a few years. It's a situation that should never happen again - so here's why...

Under the current setup adding two teams would be great for F1. I don’t even care if they’re competitive or not but it will provide more opportunities for new pilots. Every year we get a new F2 champion that can’t run in the category again, for example, and they end up on the sidelines simply ‘cause there is no room in F1

This is true, more opportunities for those drivers would be great but they need to be credible teams! Thanks for watching 👌

they really need to get rid of the rule preventing champs from competing in F2 again... and maybe make F2 a bit more competitive and introduce a promotion/demotion rule.

when the 20best drivers are competing for multiple years there tends to be a buildup for drivers and lesser competetive years etc that just cant make it into f1 bbecause of the slots.

No team of the 10 today should be referred to as backmarkers in the same way that these 3 were. Those teams were usually about a lap of the next teams. That would be like an Alpine regularly lapping a Haas, AT, Alfa Romeo or Williams, but in reality even Verstappen is lapping only few cars this year.

I think the F1 grid should have at least 26 cars on it. Used to be over 30.

back in the day there were like 6-10 proper cars and a bunch of amateurs pretending to run an F1 team, often getting lapped multiple times by the leaders, that is if they even finished the race.

If I remember at the time of the three joining Bernie used to pay the top ten teams a year behind but would sometimes grant an advanced payment, He stated that he only pays ten teams so if they expect a pay packet they have to get in to the top 20 places.

The fact they changed the financial regulations really mess them up. They entered with much much less funding then even under the current budget cap

Exactly, they joined on promises that the sport couldn't keep. It was a real shame!

I think if there were enough teams, f1 could take a BTCC approach to the constructors championship. Have the “manufacturers” class and a “customer” class, or at least something similar so that new and small teams have incentive and better inter competition with lower budget teams.

It should also be factored in that f1 teams value are at its highest currently, they don't want new teams to reduce their prize money share. Weird that Haas did not have to pay 200m back then doesn't it

In what way? They took over Minardi (on the condition that they keep the team at its long-term base, which they still have), invested a crap ton into it, employed some top people, and won a race _before_ Red Bull, and have had another win and some podiums. They may be seen as the RB "junior" team (not the first "related" team to a bigger, more established one by a long shot), but they finance themselves. They bring on young drivers (some other drivers on today's grid, or relatively recently retired, started at that team when it was Minardi, or started in one of the three teams in this story; Webber & Alonso - Minardi. Danny Ric - HRT. There are loads more but I can't be arsed to look it up.) Bringing on young drivers has pretty much always been the job of the "slow teams". Recently you can add Williams and George Russell to that list, and now Alfa Romeo and Zhou & even Charles Leclerc. They're Ferrari's "Alpha Tauri" for now, as are Haas! So again, in what way is AT different? They're absolutely a "real F1 team"!

Plus, Haas and Williams take more parts from other teams than AT does from RB.
