The problem occurs when paper money does not represent a steady (gold) value over time. This gives rise to constant inflation of various degrees, that is, everything costing more, including, number one: gold.

Shaykh ‘Abd al-‘Azeez ibn Baaz (may Allaah have mercy on him) was asked: What is your opinion on the call for nationalism which believes that belonging to a race or language takes precedence over belonging to a religion, and these groups claim that they do not oppose religion, but they give nationalism precedence over it. What is your opinion of this call? He replied: This is a jaahili call, and it is not permissible to join it or encourage those who promote it. Rather it must be put an end to, because Islamic sharee’ah opposes it and rejects it. We should refute their specious arguments and claims with that which makes the truth clear to those who seek it. Islam is the only thing that preserved Arabness in language, literature and culture. Rejecting Islam leads to destroying Arabness in language, literature and culture. Hence the daa’iyahs should strive their utmost to call people to Islam just as the colonialists are striving their utmost to destroy it. It is a well known principle of Islam, that no Muslim has any excuse for not knowing, that the call for Arab nationalism or any other kind of nationalism, is a false call, grave error and blatant evil; it is a bad jaahili attitude and a plot against Islam and its followers. That is due to many reasons that we have explained in a separate book entitled Naqd al-Qawmiyyah al-‘Arabiyyah ‘ala Daw’ al-Islam wa’l-Waaqi’ (Criticism of Arab Nationalism in the Light of Islam and Reality). Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (4/173). This book is published in its entirety in Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (1/280-318). The Shaykh (may Allaah have mercy on him) also said: One of the greatest of evils and follies is to compare Islam to Arab nationalism. Does nationalism that is devoid of Islam have any characteristics that qualify it to be counted among the ranks of Islam? Can there be any comparison between the two? Undoubtedly this is the gravest insult to Islam and a denial of its principles and wise teachings. How can any sound mind compare between nationalism and Islam when, if Abu Jahl, ‘Utbah ibn Rabee’ah, Shaybah ibn Rabee’ah and other enemies of Islam were alive, they would be among the most prominent supporters and greatest proponents of nationalism, whereas the proponents and supporters of Islam in every time and place are Muhammad the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), Abu Bakr al-Siddeeq, ‘Umar ibn al-Khattaab, ‘Uthmaan ibn ‘Affaan, ‘Ali ibn Abi Taalib and other Sahaabah, the supporters and heroes of Islam, and those righteous people who followed their path? No one would justify comparing nationalism of this ilk, with these men as its supporters, and a religion of such standing, with such supporters and proponents, except one who is deranged, or is a blind follower, or a bitter enemy of Islam. The one who makes such a comparison is like one who compares dung and pearls, or Prophets and devils. The one with insight who ponders this and examines the facts closely, will clearly see that comparing nationalism and Islam is more dangerous to Islam that the comparisons mentioned above. Moreover, how can it be valid to compare nationalism, the fate of one who dies following which is Hell, and Islam, the destiny of one who dies following which is the victory of abiding close to the Lord in an abode of honour? O Allaah, guide us and our people to the Straight Path, for You are able to do all things. Fataawa al-Shaykh Ibn Baaz (1/320, 321). These are two useful answers from the Shaykh (may Allaah have mercy on him) about the comparison between Arab nationalism and Islam. The second answer contains the ruling on one who compares between them, and says that he is deranged or a blind follower or a bitter enemy of Islam. The one who knows nothing about the status of nationalism may be excused, But if a person is ignorant of Islam and believes that some other religion, system or principle is better than it, he is undoubtedly a kaafir. Thirdly: If we examine the second scenario, then we will see that the questioner has spoken ill of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) by making this comparison, and the respondent has spoken worse ill by answering this foolishness, which is kufr in and of itself, because it is undermining the status of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and speaking ill of him. What the Muslim must do is venerate his Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and support him, and protect him against everything that may offend him; he must also honour him and respect him. Allaah has stated that this is one of the characteristics of the believers, and He has enjoined it on the Muslims. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “So those who believe in him (Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم), honour him, help him, and follow the light (the Qur’aan) which has been sent down with him, it is they who will be successful” [al-A’raaf 7:157] “Verily, We have sent you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) as a witness, as a bearer of glad tidings, and as a warner. 9. In order that you (O mankind) may believe in Allaah and His Messenger (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and that you assist and honour him (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and (that you) glorify (Allaah’s) praises morning and afternoon” [al-Fath 48:8,9]

Excellent commentary from 7.30 on about fiat currency. At least when fiat currency was in the form of notes or coins which could be possessed and exchanged. citizens had some control over banks. Now cash is being replaced by virtual money in the form of digits. The banks have have never had the cash to pay out all holders. In Australia the use of cash is being discouraged. Here banks are even asking people the purpose for why they are withdrawing any cash. There will be no use in hiding cash in a mattress or even buying gold because the governments will introduce laws to make it illegal tender. The convenience of electronic transactions is the reason cash is less traded, but with increasing digitization, the governments and banks will have even greater control.

From the past so many centuries, we Muslims are in a position to preach Islaam within ourself. We have to educate Islaam to Muslims along with basic belief as well as other aspect of our life. May be 50% of the Muslims are understood about Allah - Azzawajal, but about Prophet (PBUH)? I dont know how many of us clearly understood Muhammad - PBUH has given explanation to the whole Qur'an, which will be able to solve the whole mankind's problems. Majority of our Muslim schalors teaching just Ibaadaat - worship - prayers, but how many of us understood and act Zakaa also a worship by paying the right amount, to the right people in the right time. My understanding is that, major problems of our Muslim ummah is the financial needs. Our prophet (PBUH) has warned that "poverty will lead even to shirk" Every single country in the world should establish Finance House - Baithul Maal, the proper implementation of this Zakaa scheme will work a lot only if we will do for sack of Allah. But all Muslim finance experts come together and define (according to Qur'an and Sunnah) what is Zakaa. Zakaa rule should be simplified in a way that even uneducated Muslims can understand and pay their due when, how, how much, to whom.

Gold is not money per se. Gold coins are money and a store of value and a unit of account. A Gold bar is a store of value, a unit of account (maybe), but not money. Money can be any medium. People call gold God's money because it doesn't react with anything easily. That's why it has so few uses. It's a perfect store of wealth. And gold is produced only during rare celestial events like supernovae I believe. Mankind can't make gold. The gold supply on earth is finite.

I am a non-Muslim historian. I love people of all faiths. But this constant bashing of Christians and Jews is a bunch of nonsense. In the early days of Islam, the Muslims conquered what was then the Byzantine Empire and Persian empires. There were many battles and in under 150 years, the Islamic empire went from a handful of followers of Prophet Muhammad to running a good part of the world. The Prophet and early caliphates were considered righteous and while there were again, a lot of battles, there were a LOT of people who joined the Muslim armies both JEWS and CHRISTIANS, who supported Islam and viewed Muhammad and the early caliphates as righteous, strong and wise leaders. There were literally cities that heard about the armies of Islam and they didn't even fight at all, they were WELCOMED and people WANTED to be ruled by the caliphate. Yes you read that right. There were Christians and Jews who fought side by side with Muslims. You see some early writings from Jewish and Christian leaders praising the early Caliphates. Now look at your leaders and people today. Every five minutes on this channel and others, you are blaming a Christian or a Jew for some problem within the world of Islam. You look at the collapse of the Islamic world, its poverty, its injustice, its problems. And you want to blame EVERYONE else but yourselves. Yourselves and your corrupt leaders that are stealing billions. if you are mad at anyone you should be mad at them. Speaking of corruption, I don't hear anything about the ongoing persecution of Uyghur Muslims in China. That, or the fact that China as announced they would be "revising" the Chinese version of the Quran so it is "patriotic." I haven't heard ANYTHING about this from any Islamic country. Even organizations in the west that are supposed to speak up for Muslims aren't saying anything. Maybe it has to do with the billions that China has paid to various Muslim countries and Islamic leaders. Just another example of corruption... There were Jews and Christians and the time of Prophet Muhammad and the early caliphates. Yet, the Islamic empire was the most powerful in the region at that time. So clearly and obviously, the existence of Christians and Jews is not the reason for all of your problems.

Humans are social beings and they're wired to live by win-win principles instead. The entire system needs to adapt to humanity, not the other way round.
