I’m not surprised Patrick Swayze was such a sweetheart and Whoopi Goldberg bright a certain magic to that film that nobody else could bring. That movies doesn’t run without her. Patrick Swayze is a legend for a reason. He has good natural instincts. ❤

A bunch of actors have become diminished in my eyes because of their partisan politicking and myopic virtue signaling, but I was eventually able to return to the roles they played well with good direction and writing.

So racism isn't a thing because a white man gave her a chance? "she's got the talent however without him who is She?" Is very telling of your mentality. Maybe she would be winning academy awards, or making critically acclaimed films. Maybe nominated for best actress. Oh yeah, she had already had done all of that before Swayze "gave her a chance" and ending racism at the same time. I'll go tell the Americans that racism ended in the 90's. Pipe down, Patrick chose Whoopi, all is well!

@@lunamoon1255 Without roles like Oda Mae Brown and Guinan, Whoopi may not register on some people's celebrity radar. It's not necessarily a merit and/or race thing when you consider the many talented and/or white actors who miss out on roles for one reason or another. Maybe they didn't stand out to producers or lacked the connections. Patrick did her a BIG favor by going to bat for her when the part would have gone to another black performer like Oprah or Tina Turner. Because of him, Whoopi got to play one of her most endearing roles for generations to remember her by despite her politicking on the View.

@@Bat-Twenty-Two I'm just going to take it that you can't understand context or are intentionally being empty-headed. I do not care why Whoopi may or may not register on an individuals "celeb-radar". A fact is still a fact in spite of an individuals feelings on the matter. She did all the things I mentioned without HIM. Before Ghost. Ya know, the entire point of the OP. Lets also turn the biggest blind eye to the ridiculousness of Whoopi not being able to speak about racism because Patrick chose her for a movie in 1990! Get over her JOB at The View. It's tiresome seeing full grown adults whining about a celebrity's politics on a produced show. Why do you care where a celebrity's politics stand? Is she running for office? I promise that your neighbors politics will effect you more than Whoopi's job will. JS

@@Bat-Twenty-Two Google is your friend. The TWO black people you named (Tina Turner and Oprah) both did one movie EACH in the mid 80s. Oprah is KNOWN as a talk show host. Tina is KNOWN as an iconic singer. Whoopi is KNOWN as an actress and comedian. Whoopi is also known to have dated multiple white men. That DOES NOT mean she didn’t experience or know about racism. Patrick wanted THE best person for the job to make the film successful. Are you saying she has no right to say racism exists because he wanted her? So no person can ever claim something bad happened if something good happened to them also? Ok. Got it. I heard ignorance was bliss, so you must be eternally happy!

I loved her in Star Trek, so worldly and wise, and calming to talk to. In Ghost she's fun and quirky and she's so pleasant here, nowadays it's too political.
