I watched the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy, extended, editor's cut to find all the scenes where Legolas talks to Frodo. This is the supercut compilation of all those scenes. ENJOY!

Everyone makes a fuss over how Legolas and Frodo never talk in the films, but I’ve never heard it mentioned that Legolas also never really talks to Sam, and Gimli doesn’t really talk to either hobbit. In the books, all of them have little conversations at some point but the movies leave many of them out. Frodo and Legolas actually DO speak to each other in the book; they have a whole chat about the passage of time in Lothlórien. I wouldn’t be surprised if Elijah filmed a take where he said Legolas’ name in the reunion scene but Jackson chose a different take to use in that moment where he wasn’t speaking, for some reason.

There's one shot in the extended edition of The Fellowship of the Ring where they're in Lothlorien and Legolas is explaining what the elves are singing about. He's answering Merry's question, but then he turns towards the camera and says "for me the grief is still too near" and then it cuts to a shot of Frodo. You could argue the editing suggests that he said that last part to Frodo, but it's a stretch. It's probably the only time he talks to Merry, though.

@@Jack_Ss I always found the dynamic of the fellowship interesting. At first they seem like a squad of warriors escorting children, but that's actually nothing like what they are. 1. the Hobbits aren't children, Frodo is 50. 2. Most of the members of the Fellowship are incredibly high status members of their respective societies. Legolas is the Prince of Mirkwood, Boromir is the son of the Steward of Gondor, Aragorn is probably the most rugged of them all and he's the freaking King of Gondor. Gandalf is a demigod. I don't know why people are so shocked by this. The 9 companions didn't form until halfway through the first story and they immediately split up at the end never to gather again until the finale. It would have been weird if they were pen pals through the whole thing.

@@MrClickity it would be very weird. But the movie doesn't show us the entire walk or the many conversations that happened. For the very few instances of the film where they were together, it is not at all unbelievable that we didn't witness individual conversations between each pairing of the 9 companions.

He was just that friend of a friend who always comes along for the ride but is fairly quiet and gets along fine with everyone and never makes a mess or a fuss or cause drama so the rest of the friend group sorta just accepts his presence.
