And wrote the song at age 17 wow
My sister showed me this video at a time in my life that I was ready for it all to be over. I was in my room, gun to my head, ready to pull the trigger. That's when she knocked my door and just had to show me this artist and song that she had just found. She didn't know it but she saved my life that day. I got rid of the gun a few days later and have since gotten help. She died a few years later of a stroke, but now every time I hear this song it reminds me of what she did and this song did for me and it inspires me to live life the best I can because she was robbed of that chance. Thanks Emily and thank you Jessie J. RIP Emily

I can’t imagine your struggles and pain. Then the very person that saved your life lost her life shortly after. RIP Emily. I nursed for 18 years and I’m going to say what used to tell my patients that admitted with the similar thing. Living is the hardest thing we will do, however it’s also the best thing we would do. I’m terminally ill. That hasn’t stopped me from aiming for another goal in my life. Because I’m also a scientist, my next adventure is to do my teacher training next year; secondary school mathematics and science. Life can me a bitch. Find your centre and fight back. I wish you good luck going ahead. Your glory days are yet to come. Jessie J is one of my inspirations too.

Woah! Her music just makes you wanna keep fighting. Thank you for sharing your story Emily. I know how sometimes you just wanna throw it all away. We're all still standing here today coz of her music
My son sang this with just piano a few years back when he was still in high school. You see he was made fun of because he suffered from a nervous tic disorder by some. He found music as his therapy and went on stage at an open mic talent show and performed this song. No one knew just how talented a singer he was until that performance. He brought down the house that night. Standing ovation and not a dry eye in the place; students, teachers, adults. That one performance of this song changed his life forever and started a movement of acceptance of what makes us different from one another. He has gone on to compose, direct and perform in college and if well known and respected for his talents. It is an amazing thing how music can truly touch the soul and make a difference that can ripple through the masses.

I stare at my reflection in the mirror Why am I doing this to myself? Losing my mind on a tiny error I nearly left the real me on the shelf No, no, no, no Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising Just be true to who you are (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) (Who you are, who you are, who you are) Brushing my hair, do I look perfect? I forgot what to do to fit the mold The more I try, the less it's working 'Cause everything inside me screams "No, no, no, no, no, no, no!" Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising There's nothing wrong with who you are Yes, no's, ego's Fake shows like, woah Just go and leave me alone Real talk, real life, good luck, good night With a smile That's my home, yeah That's my home No, no, no, no, no Don't lose who you are in the blur of the stars Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing It's okay not to be okay Sometimes, it's hard to follow your heart Tears don't mean you're losing Everybody's bruising Just be true to who you are Yeah, yeah

God! Years back i used to watch this at least twice a day. I learned and memorized, basically just carved every word she says before and after the song, every note she sings, breaths she takes, mimics she makes and other things into my brain (naturally). When i watch this now i remember how lonely i was back then(and i still am), how this song especially this live version made me feel and think, helped me too. And it's still helping to deal with the same or different new problems. I realize again that struggle is never over. The reasons of struggle may change but the struggle itself never changes or stops for none of us. That's why we're always gonna need that beatiful, angelic, strong masterpiece in our lives. Thank you, Jess.
2022 May and this song is STILL saving me.. She said that "I hope this song will save a lot of people". Wherever she is, I want her to know that it saved me and it's still saving me... Her gift is real. Her gift is rare. Her gift is powerful and ...she truly was born to write music to heal the world.

Nobody can sing this song better than Jessie J
Singers like Jessie j, Christina perri and lykke li are so over looked and they deserve all the attention in the world and they're not getting it. I don't really understand why amazing singers aren't as famous as auto tune artists. What the hell is happening to music nowadays?!!

this song helped me in so many moments. in one of them, I remember, was when I was hurting badly, not only inside. I would lay down and think, and come to many bad decisions, and then I would listen to it and force myself to give me a break. and now, when I'm hurt, when I feel like vanishing, when I'm too sad to get up, I sing to this, and it doesn't matter if my voice sounds weak. I know that I'll slowly get stronger. I'm thankful to this woman.

How bizarre. This woman changed hundreds of thousands of lives with her amazing lyrics and voice, while some sluts like Nicki Minaj just put some random lyrics into a song with a monotone voice and earn like 100 times as much. Life is unfair. Jessie J changed my life too. She's worth anything to me. Let's hope she keeps up with this great work.

***** WHY are you (and you're not the only one) bashing and slut-shaming other singers ? Yes, Jessie is amazing, she changes thousands of lives, she's got one of the best voices I've heard BUT is it NECESSARY to slut shame Nicki, really ?!? She helped raise more than $250 millions for AIDS, she's a women's rights activist and always tell her fans to stay in school, but even if she WAS a slut, WHY would you need to shame her ???

And your turn on and get in and you feel like shit and you get home and you turn it on, you cry, you punch the wall. And then you turn off, you go, you know what? I can do this. I'm gonna step outside, and I'm gonna do me, I don't care what people think, I don't care how many dislikes I got on KZread, I don't care how many people compare me to every single female that is in the industry because we're white and sing. I do this because I love it. And I do it because this is what I feel like I was born to do. And I feel like I was born to write music, to heal the world.

It's funny how you can never fully resonate with a song until your circumstances change. Five years or so after this song was released and I've never truly appreciated/needed this song more. Jessie; Thank you. Your passion and lyrics in this song have truly got me through some shit and I am forever grateful.
I lost myself a while back. Someone took a huge part of me, I’m trying to find myself so I can be myself again and be happy. It’s def been a long road, 6 months with depression and I’m starting to finally feel okayish. Depression is real and it’s a long journey to get through and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Please don’t give up though, keep pulling through every single day. It gets better. For me friends have been such a help even to just go to the gym or get a quick lunch. I’ve also been taking therapy every week.

Jessie needs more recognition for the talent that she has. I think the reason she connects so much to this song is because in one of her songs 'who's laughing now' the music video shows 'young Jessie' getting bullied. Jessie's music means so much to me and others. WE LOVE JESSIE
곡소개하는 나레이션도 음악에 맞춰서 그루브를 치네 캬
This song is POWERFUL, it kept me from losing it all and ending it all. Thank you Jessie for sharing your gift!! We all go through our own journey, just NEVER lose Who You Are while going through it!
She is putting her heart and soul into singing this song. It's a sad to say that people care more of what you look like, then who you are in the inside. The first time I heard this song, I was in a dark place, I listen to covers of this song. You can feel and hear the pain in their voices. You are perfect the way you are Jessie, and you showed me that. I'm perfect the way I am. Don't change for anyone.
she is really underrated. i mean u heard that!!!!! that girl can saannnggg #SheSangForTheGods
She saved my life. My all-time favourite singer. I love you Jessie, i relate to this song like every word in it. Its okay not to be okay. Tears don't mean you are losing. 😢
Her best live performance ever....
Can anybody explain to me why she sings SO AMAZING? It's impossible, i repeat the 3:30 minute like 6 times, and i still cant believe what im hearing... YOU ARE REALLY REALLY AMAZING JESS, I DONT KNOW THE WORDS TO EXPLAIN IT, SERIOUS. I LOVE YOU SO MUCH ♡♥♡♥

Thankyou Jessie 😪 Im so down right now thankyou for your Song Sendingmy love from PHILIPPINES ❤️
How is it possible that sometimes she sounds very deep and like she could not hit the high notes and sometimes she sounds like this...that she could sing higher than the song is ...just amazing :)

She is a fucking queen, this performance brought tears to my eyes
Jessie is truly the first singer I felt a connection with. This performance alone saved my life countless times over the years. I love this woman. A true inspiration. THANK YOU, JESSIE
This song still inspires me to stand up and to be true to myself. I even considered for years tattoing "Be true to who you are" because of this song. It's a strong reminder. Still relevant today. Thank you Jessie J! You won't read this probably. But, love you, xx
you are a legend i swear this song will never be forgotten
"I feel like I was born to write music to heal the world"
SHE DID THAT! 4:32 !!! She did better than the studio! woah!😭💞
Jessie J we love u so much we want to see u winning a lots of grammy awards
I have been replaying this song for the past 20 minutes and I must say it's become a favorite. I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression recently and up till now I have had no outlet for it, I take it out on myself..It literally suffocates you, it's not a joke and it is a real illness ...When I first heard this song I didn't really listen to it until I heard #jillianjensen sing it again on x factor. I love the passion she uses to emphasize certain areas of the song that people really need to listen to like 3:17-3:45. That's where you feel it and see it, she is speaking to you when she does that

+halley martin Sorry to hear you're having a tough time. Can I recommend a book called 'Self Help for your Nerves' by Dr Claire Weekes? It's quite old (like it has a chapter about electro-shock therapy! - skip it) but it's got some principles in it, on the first few pages that pretty much cured me of anxiety and depression. It might not have the same impact for you, but I can guarantee that it will be worth your time reading...
