if its not that than its possible that she created her own stuff like as we see with commander tar tar and his creation of sanitized octolings so maybe marina created somethingthat got corrupted and thats whats taking over.

Most Likely Candidate: Marina We have 3 characters that know her, (Pearl, 8, and Acht). Nintendo has been setting Marina up for something. The way they set up the stages seem very technological especially one stage that is made up of Computer code. We even see a Marina can in a screenshot.

I seriously think because of the dialogue in the side order trailer that *something* happened to Marina. Why wasn’t she with Pearl? Why *is* Pearl a robot now? It’s hinted that the world side order takes place in is one where Inkopolis is run by order, not chaos as we have now in our own timeline. (Order v Chaos Final Splatfest) Maybe Marinas involved in some way?

I don't think Marina is the villain. During her free time, she may have coded an AI to build a perfect virtual world. But, at the risk of sounding old, I'm gonna say the AI pulled a x.a.n.a. and went rogue, realizing it could do a whole lot more than what it was creates to do.

Tartar-possessed Marina would be an interesting way that could happen

I feel like Tar Tar is a very likely possibility! Technology in our time (right now) Is advancing rapidly... especially the use of A.I. and in the future (Splatoon) we see lots of big technological advancements (Tar Tar, O.R.C.A, The crystals of Alterna and so on) So it wouldn't be so far fetched to assume that the professor made a backup of tar tar. Plus, the ink we currently see from the fish bone enemies is very similar to Sanitised Ooze, The almost glitching faces on the final shot [0:44] is very similar to the way Tar Tar's "eyes" Moved during his "defeat" [7:04] Plus the "tentacle" we see at [2:07] Is almost indistinguishable from a mem cake

Seeing as how “Acht” means 8 in German and Dutch, do you think she’ll be related to Agent 8 in some way….. 🤔 P.S Toni Kensa could be a villain because of their idea to integrate the “MPU” ability that everyone abused back in Splatoon 2.😒

Nah, 8 is just a reoccurring thing in their character. They're an octopus (an 8 limbed creature) from the octo expansion (octo meaning 8).

I honestly think that it is Lil Judd because ever since Agent 3 defeated Mr. Grizz, he just suspiciously gets a headset and has a table turf deck full of salmon run cards. The new enemies are suspiciously fish or Salmon enemies too. He may not be the main villain or he may just be an arc saved for Splatoon four but this can't just be a coincidence...

I hope it's lil' Judd because that would be so funny. He could be working on Tartar's behalf in his plot to kill his older twin, using golden eggs to power the tech world similar to how they were used for the walls and all that in Alterna.

I have always thought it it would be tartar again, so if it is then I was right the whole time(TEAM SKELTON BTW)

I just love the idea of Marina wanting to do a virtual work where everything is how she wanted, but gets corrupted by Tartar somehow. They start sucking people in that virtual world, like Dedfish, Agent 8 and Pearl, turning Pearl into a drone so she never actually dies or could not be destroyed. And like...imagine that Agent 4 ALSO appears there, since Inkopolis Square were also their home, so it could make a lot of sense for Agent 4 and Agent 8 being together, they are roommates after all.

I would like to add something about Dedf1sh in this theory: since they were sanitized to only focus on making music, then how are they helping us in the first place? I think this might be some replacement that marina added to this virtual world since they were friends and marina missed her since she can’t see her anymore on the surface.

I’m not so sure, since we don’t know the exact mechanics of sanitization. Maybe Dedf1sh just…. Got better? Like maybe the sanitization is temporary, but most don’t get a chance for it to wear off since they get splatted/die.

What if Marina developed an AI to help her with this hobby world? And it gains sentience and turned against her. That way, it would have a motivation to capture her. And it would be a compelling villain and They wouldn't be rehashing old Villains like They've been doing with the main Stories in the first 2 games.

Tbh regarding the whole digital dimension idea, I could see tartar post octo expansion uploading their consciousness to whatever digital dimension side order takes place in, using it as a base to start their new plan

I think it's the professor Tartar mentioned when you beat him because Tartar could be back and he mentioned he was dead and 'resurected' him but messed up the area trying to do it.

I think I found out side orders story: we are in marinas perfect world, and the player has to advance the tower/spire of order to snap marina out of it. Evidence of this is: remember how in octo expansion, how special cans had kamabo corp symbols on them? Well people found marinas symbol on what seems to be a special can along with her DJ turntable, a memcake, pancakes,(probably referencing pancakes vs waffles) and I have NO clue what the other stuff like some beige color liquid in the backround even is supposed to be..but I guess acht being close with marina either came to try and save her,or was sucked into the perfect world of order. (I hope I’m right)

I really think Kensa and TarTar are the best bets, but I lean more towards Tartar because of one factor. Why the heck wouldn't a super-human AI think, even for a SECOND, to back itself up??? I mean, we know for a fact the telephone isn't Tartar's real body, why would a scientist, even one crazy enough to preserve a cat over all of human life, put his super-AI in a tiny tin can of a telephone? It really only makes sense for Tartar to have himself backed up to a hard drive somewhere, and considering how the thing at the end of the trailer looks... Yeah its Tartar, I'd be SHOCKED if it wasn't (but not unhappy if it was Kensa or some goofy pick like Marigold or Mr. Krabs himself)

In Splatoon 2, Marina said everyone was living in simulation and free will is a lie, so what if this is actually true and she somehow knows Inkopolis and Splatsville are simulations while no one else does and going to the top of the tower in Side Order will lead Agent 8 and Pearl to the real world where humans still exist and they meet the professor? The professor could also be the final boss for whatever reason. He may want to delete Inkopolis and Splatsville and Agent 8 has to stop him.

Obviously the villain is a new character named Puffy mc puffykins the 3rd deluxe. They are just a normal pufferfish that spends all its time online and wants to make the whole world online as well. The reason marina and pearl are here is cuz puffy captured marina to help him. And also they wanna kill all the species cuz they think they ugly

The main villain is an octopus called order and Marina is brainwashed in side order just like callie in splatoon 2

I know it's very likely that commander tartar is the villain but lil' judd might be involved because the skeleton fish kinda look like big dead salmonids, and whoever the villain is, they probably kidnapped marina.

Like her making the simulation sounds extreme but this is the woman who just casually invented a special (super chumps are absolutely just weaker hyper bombs)

Also when the game came out lil Judd said he wanted to kill normal Judd? Maybe it’s lil Judd??

Agent 4 is my guess because she looks like shes on top of the space ship thing, it even has the headphones and the hair.

i honestly think that marinas "experiments" on the new inkoplis square kind of corrupted her. even if im wrong i still think she is vital to the dlc

I have been theorizing that tartar would return since the end of octo expansion. While I thought tartar himself living could go either way, I fully thought and still think that his “ultimate lifeform” would come back to some capacity. All of the ooze that was said to make this lifeform fell into the water, it wasn’t destroyed. And while it was made from previous test subjects that were probably all inklings and octolings that die in water, I feel like tartar wouldn’t just… make and “ultimate lifeform” that can’t swim… He also seems to view humans very highly so he may have wanted to bring back humans that just have more sense than to ya know *drop a nuclear bomb onto Antarctica and flood the world*. He talks about meeting the professor again soon in his “death” dialogue but never directly says they’ll meet in the afterlife or that he’s dying. He could have survived thanks to waterproof tech or his “ultimate lifeform” rebuilding him and by extension that would mean he also found a way to bring the professor back or the professor never actually died. I totally thought my predictions were right when splatoon 3’s campaign was announced cuz come on, ooze taking over everything, the name “the return of the mammalians” i mean come on it fit so well, but i’m also very happy with the story we have and I would love to see my theories confirmed or denied in side order.

One thing that I saw is that in the latest trailer of Splatoon 3 side order is that in the end they show a picture of Pearl and Marina and in between your can see that there are little humanoids on top of the final boss level and one of the humanoids looks exactly like agent 4 because in the Splatoon 3 game they never show or here about agent 4 but could agent 4 be the villain in side order.but that’s just my theory

The final boss looks like it has a launching attack with the torpedo icon and the things kinda looking like small octo zeppelins.i can also see things that look like balloon fishes and on the front there’s a black square that looks like a loaf of bread from the octo oven.just a theory tho

A Minigame Idea! *Renegade Rollout* (Based on Mario kart 8, renegade roundup) Clam blitz based mode, 4v4. team alpha are the cops and can only use rollers (except the carbon and big swig plus their variants because they don't splat players instantly upon rolling over them) and team beta are the renegades and can use any weapon they choose. During the game, the renegades can't attack the cops except with subs and the cops can only splat the renegades by rolling over them. (however the cops can still flick to spread ink. in the off chance that a cop does accidently flick to splat a renegade, then they must jump back to their spawn and wait for 10 seconds before getting back into the game) If a renegade gets splatted, they have to remain in their spawn. If all of the renegades get splatted, the cops win. "But it wouldn't be renegade roundup without being able to release teammates from jail!" I hear you say! That's why the renegades can gather power clams and throw them at their own team's basket in order to free their friends. The renegades can only use power clams up until the last 50 seconds of the game to prevent the renegades getting an unfair victory. If at least 1 renegade survives when the timer hits 0 then the renegades win. [Specials and super jumps are not permitted]

What if TarTar gets a Glados body and controls the tower like how Glados controls Aperture Science?

I really think that its going to propobly be Lil Judd. I mean he is still the one who is most likely running Grizzco after the story mode. Maybe its going to be a situation were Lil Judd gets the remains of Tartar after the Octo Expansion and revives him. Maybe he kiddnapps Marina and fuses her and Tartar like agent 3 got fused with him in octo expansion, to create the ultimate most intelligente Villain. I mean Tartar and Marina are propobly two of the most intelligent beings in the whole splatoon series, so it propobly would make sense two fuse both of them.

I’m actually hoping for some kind of new character, which does include guesses like Toni Kensa since we really don’t know who they are, because I am always blown away by the new characters this franchise can come up with. Being an established character could be interesting, but if it was Tartar again it might feel too stale since we already know his deal. Who knows, maybe it’ll be a backup of Tartar with different goals? Maybe this version of Tartar thought that controlling and subjugating the life of this world to be more like his idealized version of humans would be better than destroying them, especially since the previous version of him failed. That could be one hell of a twist if it is “Tartar” again

I bet Marina's gonna have some realtion to the villian, because basically with the information we have so far its splatoon 2's story mode all over again, 1. Its the second game of its type (second splatoon game, second octo expansion), 2. Out of the two idols, the one who lost the last splat fest is missing

2 Jan 2024 Side Order right? I have an idea of who could be the main villain of this mode with a story to back it up. Once upon a time Male Agent 8 took Marina after the Chaos vs Order fest (I headcannon the male agents are on the opposite side of the female ones in C vs O. Female Agent 8 Order, Male Agent 8 Chaos.) because he got fed up with her order antics and took her to her fan made Order world and trapped her somewhere (and maybe trapped Pearl in a drone for the hell of it or he hates Off the Hook)+ Female Agent 8 to try and fight him. In the Spire of Order. Toni Kensa is a fashion designer, not trying to mess around. If it was Tartar, Male Agent 8 killed him, so it is the only option. I believe your theory and that it could be Tartar. Personally I had a weird Dajavu dream that I was watching a Side Order video. It was Pearl, Marina, and agent 8 walking through inkopolis. Then they were stoped by a mini earthquake and the ground cracked and bursted out sanitized ink. Tartar emerged in a glitchy, mangled form with red eyes and tentacles. Then sanitized Octolings dragged them into the ink. Then the screen went black and shifted to side order’s intro.

I think Marina’s gonna be the villain. Think about it: Side Order is exactly what this guy predicted, an alternate reality where Team Order won the final Splatfest. And look at the landscape; it’s dry, bleak, Marina’s idea of an “ideal world.” We are likely going to have to fight brainwashed Inklings and Octolings with Team Order shades and headgear on. Like you said, “it literally encapsulates your entire head. It ain’t rocket science that this could do something to you.” So basically, Marina rules Inkopolis Square, we fight Inklings and Octolings brainwashed by her gear and we fight Marina as the final boss. I fr think it will be Tartar. Warning: its too much text, read it if you want. First of all. The infinity symbol appears EVERYWHERE around in the DLC, and like it says, both Judd and Tartar are inmortal, so its a big chance of it fr being Tartar. It could all have started like this... After the events of the Octo Expansion, during the investigation of the statue, Marina was curious about the telephone's system and she wanted to see how it worked, waking Tartar once again. Because he didnt have the change of mind before "melting" or whatever, he wanted to try once again, but instead of destroying the world, he made his own pocket dimension by hacking Marina's Machinery and making that virtual dimension we are seeing, the Side Order. I can assume that Marina was working on a virtual reality, having a replica of inkopolis square, making it a game based on the splatoon world, just for practice of shooting and stuff. This being the reason why inkopolis square was all "taken over" which in reality was not. The Side Order Dimension only took a virtual version of inkopolis square and made its changes. Also the practice of shooting, i mean.. training areas were the reason of the levels in the DLC. I think that before all of that, there was a physical appearence of the portal to the Side Order dimension, reason of why the Pearl-Bot is there. As Marina wanted to search ways to close the portal by investigating whats inside of it, and then the portal's physical appearance got asimilated into something, or it just "closed" not completly tho. As both, Pearl and Marina began to explore, the saw life coming out of nowhere, unlucky cephalopods who got sucked in the dimension, at the time being Acht AKA: Deadf1sh and agent 8. This is all i can say, just a dumb theory and a lot of text.

i really dont want tartar to be a repeated villain. he felt like a one-trick villain in the splat 2 dlc, so with the opportunities that this upcoming dlc has, theres definitely going to be someone new.

Ok so this world is just a digital world created by marina because she knows tech enough to do that and write all of the scripts this may be the reason we don’t see her at all in the trailer (Ik you see her as a picture in the first trailer but this is just a theory)

Honestly commander tartar seems pretty plausible, and the fact that lil Judd came from the same place, it could be possible that lil Judd could potentially have a role too. How is no one talking about the AI named O.R.C.A. from the spoon3 storymode which has a dolphin icon and the enemies in the side order dlc are also dolphin shaped. I do think we'll see Tartar again but maybe O.R.C.A. has a connection to the whole thing aswell?

How come nobody has thought of marina getting some sort of clothing forced on her body that possesses her?. If so the one behind this alk would most likely be Toni Kensa if marina is possesed by blotting

While I know you don't think it's Marina, I DO think it would be interesting if they took the approach of making Marina a "reasonable" side villain. Like, through her own internal conflict, she found herself being corrupted. Not mind control, but genuinely doing all this by choice because she thinks she's doing "the right thing"

When I saw the spiral giy people think is the final boss I thought it was the first boss, and that it looked a lot like the octo oven. Maybe the bosses are going to return from Splatoon 2, but remodeled! again!

i think tartar cannot be the villian cause i dont know if this is a canon thing or not but basically there was a manga (idk how to call it) where marina put tartar on some mountain in a location that was mentioned a few times in the splatoon franchise before so he probably cant do anything now

I think the enemy of side order is agent 4 becouse after the splatoon 2 story mode callie and marie leave agent 4 alone. so agent 4 tought callie and marie didnt like her and there was so much hatred inside her they use her for their own benefit and go away. then she met commander tartar and they estabilashed cooperaton with her.
