wdym? I dont get why two things cant be true here: 1. She wouldnt exist without the heavens, that is a fact 2. She is also an avatar of Irminsul, that is also a fact The way I envision is it Irminsul was seized by the heavenly principles after defeating the sovereigns, and Rukkhadeveta came into being around the same time the rest of the human realm came into existence to serve as the caretaker of Irminsul, feel free to lmk if anything is wrong here. In order to write off Irminsul not existing before the arrival of the principles one would need to answer then where the "root" of the dendro element came from before Irminsul was created, and why it was moved to Irminsul.

Irminsul is a weird kettle of fish. It's named after god king Irmin (who I believe is playing the role of Phanes in the current samsara or was Phanes but none of that matters, anyways) Irmin was the one eyed King of Khaenri'ah's royal dynasty. It means grand pillar and it carries elemental energy and memories through its veins, the current orders imposed by the Principles, through the Leylines. Theoretically, it's possible that the Irminsul tree was not the creation of the Principles but is now under their control. It comes from how Azhdaha claims to have some command over the Leylines (which literally means "dragon root/vein") but the problem with that is Tsumi says in the three realms quest, that the Leylines belong to the human realm and help distill the concentration of elemental energy so that it's compatible with humanity. Tsumi doesn't completely contradict Azhdaha here as it could be a similar case of subjugation.. but that's speculation ultimately. Another example would be the Primordial Sea but that's connection to the Irminsul tree is even less obvious than the Leylines. Neuvillette describes Teyvat and filthy and a prison or words to that effect, so you gotta assume that things as we see them now is not as they once were. Irmin in the Shattered Halberd book connected the 9 worlds and this could have been done with the power of the Irminsul, Irmin in the Shattered Halberd is not just a god king but also a divine weapon/reliquary of some sort, so it's possible that the Irminsul represents one of the final vestiges of his work at least, prior to the heavens collapse.. It could be either or even both, we won't know until someone old enough talks about it, seemingly even Nahida doesn't know. Perhaps it's something that will be touched upon when we next see Apep although lets be real, straight up, that's not happening, so idk.

Think of it like this - Irminsul may have been there a long time, but its guardian spirits, Rukkadevata and Nahida, were created later, when it became clear that Irminsul needed protection. Or maybe Irminsul itself hatched the first of their kind from its memories of humanity. The problem with their kind, is that we don't even know if Rukkadevata is the first guardian spirit. It could be that the first time she shrunk, she was replaced too, like how everybody now believes Nahida did everything Rukkadevata did. I think Parable of the Tree describes at one such replacement, so now we have at least 4 potential avatars of Irminsul.

They're not guardian spirits. They are avatars. Of course the English team could have just picked a random word that is misleading but if they are avatars then that means they are the tree. They're not guarding the tree. They are the tree. So Apep is saying the tree isn't that old and is bound to the Primordial One. If the tree was basically the equivalent of the source of Dendro then Apep would be subservient to it. @@kotarouinugami1745

I think that Primordial One and his descendants could just create new gods by splitting like an amoeba, kind of like oceanids do. So Istaroth was Thousand Winds, and when she felt the need to take care of a tribe in the frozen tundra of Mondstadt, she split off a thread of herself, and the thread became Venti. While a few other gods have different origins. We know what Nahida and Egeria were made from. Orobashi was probably just a really strong adeptus, that is, an animal who trained a lot. Andrius was like that too, but he ate somebody else (an evil squirrel from Boar Princess?) and that caused him to get stronger and go berserk.

Funny enough, your primordial one bit has helped me understand the lore better because it makes me remember them lol

That would mean that the stone tablet should be the first recording of him and that would date 6000 years being after the second who came battled the Primordial one. How long was the time between Primordial one descending and Morax descending? We don't know to be honest

I can't watch rn but just gonna comment because I can 😂 I'll edit this after in case it's covered but my thoughts are that the demon gods either were created during the 2nd who came's war [whether that was caused because the 2nd who came wanted to wage war, it was a inescapable consequence of a descender coming, or it just so happened there was war that happened when the 2nd came like just a coincidence] It would make sense to me of the gods were once humans or in general beings that ascended to Godhood to be soldiers in a war and then were leftovers post-war. Maybe it's a rebirth type of situation and in which case - Zhongli being 6k years old might be how old his ascended/descended form is? Which then they might have needed to weed them out with the archon war once they realized it would be impossible for their "plans for humanity" to continue with as many gods walking doing as they pleased such as causing mayhem. But idk I'm just some low-level plebian 😂

Enjou says there were no demon gods before the Seelie were nerfed. Goddess of Flowers is not a demon god, but a Seelie. Seelie arrived with the Primordial One and are essentially angels. They are more powerful than demon gods by a long way. Even after being nerfed the GoF is far more powerful than Deshret for example. Sometimes the text refers to these type of beings as "divine" instead of demon-gods. The Celestials have a higher tier of energy compared to the demon gods who only have elemental energy. As Skirk says that difference is huge. Well Apep says the same thing of course - hence her searching for higher tier energy. We do get told an account of three demon gods being "born". namely Andrius, Egeria and Focalors. In each case the creature that becomes a demon god had already existed and they are promoted to become a demon god. We don't get told about who does it. In the case of Focalors it may be that becoming the Archon and receiving the gnosis is enough to be promoted to demon god. This would also explain Venti. In the case of Egeria and Andrius they are probably promoted by a Shade. Thus it is most likely that for a while one or more Shades just went around Teyvat promoting creatures or things into demon-gods until there were something like 72 of them. I don't know why people ever thought Zhongli was special (let alone Guizhong). The word "descended" doesn't mean coming down from the sky. Plenty of different people are said to have descended but nobody ever seriously tries to say that anyone who has had the word used in connection with them must be some kind of higher tier divine being. Just Zhongli. The Remurian Historian places Deshret before Remus and Remus before Zhongli. Zhongli never saw the three moons regardless of what folklore books (that themselves tell you they are ahistoric) claim. I don't know why people love to take literally books that deliberately say they are not literal. I mean that's a contradiction in terms. If you think those books are true then the part that says they aren't true must be true too. And does anyone still talk about "Moon Sisters?" They are myth. The Irminsul avatars do seem like they could be an odd case but they are probably the same as anything else with successive Dendro gods becoming promoted due to the gnosis.

Does it matter if we know what Zhongli knew or saw of them.. We know of their existence because they were the ones the Seelie would report to, the 3 moons and the Seelie Ancestor? They adorned the halls of heavens and their courts as heralds and would sing the praises of the moon and deliver that which was decreed by the daughters of song and prose, these were the three moons Aria, Sonnet and Canon, the master weavers of the fates (presumably: life, memories and death.) Some theories mark these entities as shades but idk, it's possible they predate the shades even imo.

On that basis Amy is also in the Ars Goetia. There's a lot of real world name variants close to Istaroth and Astarte isn't that close. The wiki for the Ars Goestia lists six variants, none of them being Istaroth. Then you can get into variants based on Azothoth (Cthulhu mythos) and Thot (Egyptian mythos). Also Asmoday was never released and (like the 6 pygmies) never will be released at this point. Neither is Paimon meant to be Ars Goetia since it's an anagram. But at the end of the day they may not have been all that bothered about the distinction. It doesn't really matter since there's no possible confusion that Istaroth is a regular god. ----------------------------------- Moon Sister references all come from fictional books that say they are fictional and the legends contradict each other (some say 2 are dead, some say 3). Anyway since Fontaine people just stopped talking about them, thank demon-god. @@DawitsLookingforEmilia

I think that an interesting topic to talk about could be the possibility of the Travelers being Akivili, who split himself into two beings to travel the mortal realms, as the personification of discovery and exploration. It would explain them apparently being older than the stars, and could maybe tie in with some loose ends with the Hexenzirkel and Venti, such as their knowledge of Kpop and the first Joestar, Jesus himself.

It's clearly a downgrade. I assume the Primordial One took them all out all by itself. Once the fighting was over the Shades are created.

@@DawitsLookingforEmilia The Archons are often referred to as gods, yet their power actually comes from a fraction of an elemental sovereign that has been stolen, and even the primordial one had to defeat the dragon king to become the god of Teyvat. This means that originally they had comparable magnitudes of power. Consequently the term "divine" here is either applicable to both, or is meaningless. Nevermind that since the primordial one is alien to Teyvat, so it is probably the first descender, which means it was not by any means divine by Teyvat standards until it rewrote the laws of Teyvat to be officially a god. Like giving yourself a doctorate.

@@Bliss467 In this case the primordial one can by definition not be a god, since divine is a synonyme of godly, and as a completely unknown alien entity, had zero connection to teyvat.

@@yadakakadu I think your amazement of the Sovreigns obliterates your judgement on the rest of the lore, and you're yet to ask youself with what kind of power did the PO subdue the Seven Sovreigns that they had to get back with abyssal power to try overthrow his order ? . I've seen this headcanon everywhere and I am still looking for the source to no avail. That's merely extrapolating the case of Egeria to the other Gods. To get back to your point, some Godly beings such as the Goddess of Flowers and Morax and his Adepti are known to have powers besides their "Elemetal" powers, namely the power of the Khvarena associated with Nabu Malikata who was a Seelie, and Adeptal power that stem form enlightement in the case of Zhongli who is presented as the Prime of Adepti, who are respectively purifying and terraforming powers and abilities to this day that do not directly stem from to the elements.... I have yet to see these two powers associated with any of the Dragons, if any, they're sole providence of the Gods.

Gonna be real here... I don't think the gods are even actually gods. Not even the Primordial One. The people of Teyvat just don't know any better. They're all-powerful immortal beings from the sky? Must be a god! I think a bunch of humans from another world stole Nibelung's genesis pearl, which basically functioned as some wish-granting philosopher's stone macguffin, and used it to remake a world for themselves to rule over (plus becoming immortal and establishing a bunch of random rules).

Also, if you look at Hoyo's very first game (from well before they were even Hoyo), Legend of Saha, a LOT of stuff in both Genshin and Honkai are directly drawn from it. One of the key plot points is that the gods in that game were humans who had gained immortality.
