Brother - when I knew I'd lost my wife (she cheated) - I gave her this song and LeeAnn Womack's "I Hope You Dance" - broke my heart in 1000 places. But now, I'm better off that ever with a loving wife of 15 years and the only child I will ever have. This song means a lot - thank you for reacting to it, and for understanding the meaning.

We played this song at my brother's funeral. He loved this song. ❤ In my mind, my brother was thinking about his children " my neices and nephew " when he told us to play this. 😪

Forgotten vs regretted ... interesting question. Forgotten if I've hurt someone in a failed relationship. Remembered with love or affection and laughter if I've passed away. I never want to be regretted, in any situation. Maybe that's the new motto ... "Act in such a way as to never be regretted."

I hope my ex remembers the good times we had together. When we were good, we were great. He's remarried and I'm so happy for him. I honestly hope it works out for them.

would I rather be forgotten or regretted? That is really tough to answer, being forgotten is like you meant less than anything to that person, however, being regretted would be horrible to be someone's "should of walked away as soon as we said hello"

I always thought this was about a deceased spouse speaking to their living loved one. It's just more poignant that way. 😭 And I guess being regretted would be my more heartbreaking than being forgotten.

I hurt someone I cared deeply for, I was 15, and he needed someone better than me as he was going through the hardest thing in his life, but I was broken at that time, after years of abuse. He regrets me... like to his core, to this day, and it kills me that I could hurt ANYONE so badly, much less someone I so deeply loved (the best I could at that time). So to answer your question, I'd rather be forgotten.
