@@swoops7687 A small difference is that Halo: Infinite or Halo 5 implies that it's a sequel and there was an original whereas God of War (2018) was only marketed as God of War to a lot of people which makes you think it's the first game in the series

TC was great at delivering dialogue filled with rage, hatred and disgust, it allowed us to feel those emotions and embrace them while destroying his enemies, but he was also very capable of giving us a more sensitive portrayal of Kratos. A side filled with regret, despair and longing that made all his rage justified to the player. Kratos has always been a tortured man who lost everyone he ever loved, so he not hated only the Gods, but also himself for his own suffering.

The first voice actor really had you engaged in the previous games, as Kratos started speaking you who were playing always looked in wonder as to what next will be coming.

Tc Carlson will always have a place in my heart. Not only did i grow up watching him as Kyle on Living Single. But when my mom was going through her brain surgery, he voice acted as Kratos and wished her luck. That will always mean something to me.

The fact that theres a debate goes to show just how good both the voice actors are/were. Both did a great job.

⁠​⁠@@lukegregory5392I call bullshit on that Carson has pretty much never did the mocap aside from ascension so Santa Monica clearly knows how to do diffrent mocap and voice actors,the reason they said the only reason the didn’t rehire him was because of his height is a total lie they honestly just disrespected him not even thanking him for doing 6 games for them. And I love Christopher judge’s performance it’s okay for a company to switch up voice actors but they pretty much acted like he didn’t exist.

Someone bigger in size and height. If you watch the god of war documentary you can see they originally use a stand in before judge and that guy is pretty big too. I think as well it would help the child actor seeing someone bigger in size. But also I think they wanted an older voice. And although he would be older I don’t think his Kratos voice would do the type of voice they were aiming for. Yes he was disrespected by not giving him a go but I think the size and voice played a huge part too.

Literally a time where Santa Monica realized they maybe they risking it and doing something new with the Series or creating a new IP, they had the balls to revamp the whole series to the point where Kratos finally wasn’t a screaming little bitch anymore and actually has some characteristics. You dumbasses are the same fuckers who were crying when Resident Evil 4 changed to a third person view.

Both of them fit for Kratos' life stages. T.C Carson very much fits younger and more rageful Kratos, while Christopher Judge fits an older Kratos who is trying to be better.

Both are good for the ages they played the character, I can’t imagine older kratos voice in younger kratos and I can’t imagine younger kratos in older kratos also I know in god of war 2018 they had that one scene where Christopher judge was saying some lines for young kratos but even that voice didn’t suit him Mistake: I could have sworn I have heard Christopher judge say something as young kratos in 2018 but apparently he was just grunting but either way the grunting isn’t as good on the young kratos then the old kratos

It would have been cool had their been an interaction or confrontation of old man kratos and his younger self. I think that could have shown a ton of character growth for kratos and been a passing of the torch from Carson to Judge.

I was hoping something like that would have happened in the Valhalla DLC where they have TC voice young Kratos . Still nice that we got young Kratos though.

I like to try and chain the two voices together in the fact that young kratos was constantly yelling therefore straining his voice and made it higher than it should've been and now old kratos has the deeper voice due to the vocal cords healing after the 3rd game and the raspy undertone is from permanent vocal damage At least that's my little way of making sense if it story wise

I think the reason for Kratos’ quiet voice is because he tried to reason with Hercules; after all, Kratos & Hercules were siblings. Kratos tried his best to reason with him, but his brother was too blinded by jealousy & covetousness that he just couldn’t let it go. Herc was even forewarned that Olympus would fall eventually, but even THAT didn’t sway him from his goal of killing Kratos.

I would love a time travel type thing where the 2 kratos’s meet and the older kratos basically confronts his past Like in the Greek games when kratos fought his kid self

I'll never not miss TC Carson's voice, but Christopher Judge is so good I can't complain.

I don’t know about better, but I have to say my favorite portrayal is the older Kratos that Christopher does. You can feel the pain, strength, confidence and know he’s experienced and much wiser from those experiences.

I’m sorry, but TC takes the cake. I would love for some site to get him to dub over some lines from the new series, just so we can hear what his take would have sounded like🤔😁

TC. I just love the ferocity he brought to the role. Would’ve loved to see him take on a more compassionate version of Kratos.

Both gentlemen did a stellar and fantastic job, TC Carson killed it as a young and angry Kratos and Christopher Judge as an older,wiser and tired Spartan general and god of war. I still feel TC should've have cameod in GOW Valhalla, the interaction and back and forth convo between the younger and brash Kratos vs. the older, wiser,remorseful and tired god would've been awesome to witness.

Sadly those people exist, OG Kratos will forever be my favorite but modern is welcomed. Not a fan of Atreus tho.

Honestly they both voiced him perfectly for his age Christopher literally sounds like older like your voice would get deeper as you grow and tc sounded younger like rhe younger versions of him they were both perfect

I think it was a great choice changing actors, not just for mocap reasons. Kratos as a character was evolving and we needed a person with a fresh perspective to rebuild the character

Even though TC did a REALLY good job. Christopher Judge just hit different with his lines. One mere example: “Death can have me, when it earns me.” You officially can’t read this line without using your inner Kratos. Also Judge gets to portray many emotions other than anger like fear when Atreus got sick in the first game and also regret when he retrieved the blades from his cabin the first time. I know about how TC also portrayed emotions but to me Chris just hits different you know. I also have a good relation with my father so maybe that’s also a factor why I prefer older Kratos.

The fact that he had to mention the original God of war series to gamers that don't know about it, anyone who doesn't know of the original series has no right to be playing the new one.

That's just gated. Not really a smart move in a business perspective. If you want the game to be successful. Than any form of exposure is still good. Besides the devs intentionally made kratos into a new person that speaks in bold so that new players can still play the game even if they haven't played the OG. Cause you can still feel and see what had happened in his previous life base on assumption and backstory on the new games. The dlc Valhalla is literally that example. It's free and give you the story behind all the things kratos had committed Let's just say for example. I bought a ps5. And purchase a game. But then someone just randomly said "Nuh uh. You can't do that. Play the previous games for this" Then I had to go back to the tech store again and buy a ps2 and purchase a game again. That's just time consuming and expensive. Why bother when you can watch his OG self on KZread. It's 7 hours long but worth it

I can say that if you played the originals, you get alot more out of Dad of Boy. That said, the new games are fantastic and can be enjoyed on their own and I am glad of this. He had no excuse for anything Remember the part where he open Pandora's box and it lead to the ever growth of fear and tyranny for all the gods specially Zeus? Yeah Zeus was a deadbeat but at least he wasn't doing much other than pretending to be a grave digger in the early games till 2 and 3. But for Helios and Poseidon was just uncalled for. They got violated for absolutely no reason other than being a god and an ally to Zeus. Hera talk shit and she got choke. Don't get me started with the boat captain. No he doesn't have slaves. Kratos just doesn't respect cause he was a coward. But kratos in the dlc said something reasonable at least. Killing someone just because they are afraid to fight is not a good reason. Yet young kratos did that I played this game all I see as the comments describe it. Angry man too angry to die I can respect this game for it's amazing writing but even that got beaten by Laura craft or the last of us. Long story short: New fans give success to the games and let's them review the old games. Old fans can stay but the gatekeeper ones just needs to die. They are too selfish to realize their own wants can fuck the very game they love the most. That's why I laugh at every smash ultimate player. You end up ruining the game by self projecting much about you and not about it.

@@Kefroth1 I’d hardly call them god of war games at this point, they’ve stripped the character of everything that made him fun to play as. Sure the character development makes sense if he were a real person, but he’s not, it’s a video game, and I am supposed to be having fun, not running across a pointlessly big world for 5 hours more than I should be because the game decided to add six filler sections to the main story

Both are equally as amazing. It is hard to shake TC Carson’s voice as I grew up with the old games but Christopher Judge does it justice

I don’t know much about the God of War games so when I see Christopher Judge, I’ll always see him as Teal’c from Stargate SG-1. Loved that show. Still do

They are both good no comparing them to be honest

It’s not a competition. They were both amazing. Carson made my childhood, Judge made my adulthood

Carson voiced Kratos in 6 different GOW games in a remarkable way, he's a legend for the gaming community. Judge has done an amazing interpretation and showed great talent from the very first scenes of the game

Didn’t know the “Living Single” actor was the original Kratos. Dope!

Both were great. I couldnt choose. They both did a masterful job of portraying the God of War

The fact the studio never went to TC about even trying the part out a bad vibe out then they went when asked if Judge wanted to voice him in the dlc he passed and they didn’t even ask tc to voice him

TC Kratos was the OG and set the bar. He did phenomenal in all that was done. And Christopher's Kratos is still badass and he is doing phenomenal with the wiser Kratos. I really can't say who did it better, they both did and are doing great

i grew up playing the 4 console and 2 psp games and TC was the ONLY voice for Kratos until 2018 GOW came out, and the progression was spot on!! CJ is Kratos' voice now

Equally badass, these two. Same Kratos, two sides of the same coin. I can't imagine him having any other VAs
