Who the heck is Jake Wolff?!

Ойын-сауық

Enjoy this conversation with newest Team Another Round member Jake Wolff. Jake is a former division, one college baseball player who approaches disc golf with that level of intensity. He is still relatively new to the sport and is already a touring professional. We’re excited to see what he does in 2024.

Great video. We are in a special time in disc golf where the sport is evolving in a lot of ways at once: technology, altheticism, course design. Five years ago, I don't know that a grenade was a shot that I'd even heard of. I also don't know that a disc exists that is really designed for what Jake Wolf is doing. He's really exciting to watch. I hope he keeps growing as a player and develops a backhand, especially for wooded courses. The talent is obvious.

He is quite the enigma, him and his brother. Can't wait to see him looking sharp on tour this year, The fact he is just getting started continues to blow my mind. He is a world champ in the making! Love the interview.

This is actually crazy. I was a college pitcher and I hit 93 one time in my life. I picked up disc golf recently, about a year ago. Sadly for me I hurt my shoulder pitching and had to get labrum/ rotator cuff surgery so I can’t throw much of a overhand shot in disc golf. I really wish I could see my potential with disc golf if I could throw that tomahawk shot. Jake wolf is so fun to watch, I hope he comes to emporia this year and I can meet him.

It makes perfect sense his background would lead to his results. He uses his natural motion of throwing and isn;lt copying others mechanics. He just learned the feel of a proper throw. Most people go against this natural motion. We all are built differently.

This guy is an inspiration to me, I started playing disc golf a year ago and I play the same as him. I played baseball my whole life all I do is sidearm tomahawk and backhand is so foreign. this weekend I'm playing in the seco college qualifier hoping our team can get at least a d2 bid.

@@Barry_MaCockener Oh my your so right! what was I thinking being. Being different sucks and that means I'm automatically bad at the game. Sorry for the error in my ways. I guess throwing tomahawks 400Ft is super uncool and that forehand turnovers are unviable.

Is he fun to watch in a trick shot sense sure. But let’s not act like he’s enjoyable to watch on a course. It’s awkward watching him struggle with simple shots because he can’t do basic shots. DG content creators love him because they can exploit the circus side of the sport and get clicks.

Did you even watch the video? He is so new to the game he has plenty of time to learn the backhand if he wants to. But I’d say stick to what works. He’s on the pro tour and only been playing like 4 ish years. He’ll continue to improve the shots he’s already good at and he’s proven he doesn’t need a backhand to be successful
