Hunter obviously. Interesting story: back in the day of Vanilla WOW we had a 3 guild MC group put together to experience MC. I got invited as a hunter because they needed to give Tranq Shots to hunter and they only had 2. So we do that, get to Garr and eventually kill him likely using the cheese method used back then to keep a shaman out of combat ressing everyone who died. The bindings dropped and NOBODY knew what they were, or why they were orange. Quick check on Allahkazam and other sites, nothing. So it was left to a /roll for all the classes listed. I rolled a perfect 100 as a hunter! These may be one of the first bindings to drop and they went to a hunter. I quit halfway through Cataclysm but those bindings are still in the bank.

it depends. is really slow for being a good prot pala weapon if there will be faster options i think you would gladly go with those and use thunderfury only if no one else wants it

I play horde but I believe Paladin would be insane with Seal of Martyrdom + Art of war single target threat!

back in retail my old guild lead used thunderfury all through all the lvl 70 raids as a warrior and you werent ever gripping threat off of him not to mention he could take hits, great for warriors but i suppose its more about the guy/gal wielding it

I believe in the dream of meta lock getting thunderfury. If the proc scales with spellpower just imagine the possibilites (and the rage of other raiders).

We fighting over this like we once fought as kids over who got first player on the split screen

You can get thunderfury on any class, just that some classes can't use swords. I had set it as a soft goal in classic to get thunderfury on my mage, but I wasn't invested enough to run my own raid so I got skipped over when the bindings dropped. Don't let the "class restriction" fool you: it's not actually relevant due to how the process of getting thunderfury works

any class that can use swords can get it as far as im aware, i dont think classes unable to wield swords can actually progress through the quest. Ive seen warlocks and mages with it but yet to see a priest or druid with one. Correct me if im wrong.

Shamans should wield it. Its literally made from Al'akir's son. The elemental lord of air. Nobody else will.

Warlocks have always been able to get TF. Been there done that, got it. There's technically no class restrictions on it, if you can use swords you can get it. Doesn't mean it's best for you though

moonkin Sulfuras, warlock Thunderfury and bear Atiesh. Just perfect

Warlocks cant proc hit effects, unless they change that or they change the tooltip for thunderfury

People acting like this is normal classic and hunters aren't dominating physical dps rn. It goes to tank first and then to whichever class/spec that is doing the most damage.

Sure it is a paladin weapon, i got it back in the days, because it was the 4th one completed in our raid xD

Hammer of the Righteous and Seal of Martyrdom says Paladins buddy. It will be the bis paladin tank weapon unless they add something new.

Personally as a warlock main I think warlocks should get it

Hmm. I support this. I remember back in Classic or TBC? Before wrath at least, a warlock did get the Corrupted Ashbringer so when MOP classic comes out they could give it to their felguard. Was I mad? Yes. Was it still brilliant? Yes.

Thunderfury, the sword wielded by the ELEMENTAL LORD OF AIR should 100% have a unique effect to let shamans wield it. That would be such an awesome lore-friendly change.

Does it matter tho if Thunderfury is in the offhand for rogues? The effect will still be applied so it's gonna be perfect for tanking anyway.

i have seen one rogue tank the reason no one see rogue tanks isnt just cos they are bad (which they are) but because NO ONE who wants to play rogue, wants to tank its like a person playing mage because they want to pick up a big stick and hit people with it, makes literally no sense no idea why rogue tank was the thing they decided to make and not ranged rogue

I'm having the same question with the new epic claws. They are totally bis for rogue tanking, but i'm sure a lot of people would complain and say rogues shouldnt roll for it, because mutilate is the way to go and it doesnt work with anything but daggers

If you’re one of those guilds that care about raid performance it will be best in a hunters hands. However It’s season of discovery though so who cares, just give it to the person that is going to stick around to the end.

Not at all in a single fucking way true... This is the best threat generating weapon in the game... It will 100% go to tanks that can wield swords, first (Warriors/Pallys/Rogues) and then... MAYBE then if you're tanks in your guild all have it... then DPS classes... sorry, not sorry

@@DaFreezeey if you’re in a guild that is struggling with threat then sure, but it’s not a factor anymore with horde having salv. I’m just telling you what is true at the top level, obviously the majority of guilds will be given to the tank.

Thunderfury goes to the MT first every time... no exceptions

In mc back in vanilla paly that want ret was the out of combat rez

it's a easy pick, your main warrior or pally tank should get thunderfury first, followed by top sword rogue and fury warrior dps.

Not having TF in your main hand means not as many procs. Obviously Warrior.

The proc is great for threat, so tanks are still ideal. The fast speed is only good for one class on MH. This, my friends, is a pally weapon.

Fast weapons are still very good for Warrior tanks, after Devastate was changed at the end of P1. If Devastate remained unchanged it would not be good.

All classes have always been able to get Thunderfury since 2004. The class restriction isn't actually coded into the game and still isn't.

Warlock cant use the bindings if they dont change it, so one less loot enemy :D

They can get and use TF. Only the bindings are class restricted, but they never need to actually equip them. You just use them in the quest line. Once you kill Thunderaan you complete the quest and there's no class restriction on the sword. Grats warlock tank.

Yes they can. The class restriction has never actually been coded into the game from 2004 to now. Even in Retail any class can receive Thunderfury. And any class that can equip 1h swords can equip it. There was a Warlock on my server that got it in TBC Classic.

Raptor strike damage was normalized,só the speed of the weapon dosnt matter Just its dps, ALL swords would count as 2,4 speed

With how TF is designed currently, no parse group in their right mind is giving you a TF until a tank has It first. They aren’t risking losing WB because a dps wants an orange item. Also, no it’s not a dps increase (clearly you don’t play or haven’t played era). It’s actually a dps decrease because you can’t fully dps since you have to manage your threat. Maybe if it’s redesigned to not generate threat, you could make the case but right now as It is, it’s not a dps wep

No parse team in their right mind is going to give a TF to a dps over a tank just because dps wants an orange item. No one will risk a DPS possibility of wiping a raid because they can't control threat or take threat with TF. As I stated above, in its current design, TF is the highest threat generating weapon up until Wrath of the Lich King (2 expansions later). Plus, that debuff procs all the time no matter who uses it, so using that as justification is irrelevant. As for a dps increase for melee, this is absolutely incorrect. TF is known dps loss until a MT has it because dps (with the exception of a rogue) cannot reduce their threat. You would literally just stand there doing nothing (or swap out TF for another weapon midway fight) because your threat would be to high and you would possibly wipe a raid. This is especially true in raids like Ony where the breath can one shot everyone but tanks. Another scenario, you would just pull threat and die, rendering the weapon and debuff useless assuming there isn't a wipe mechanic like Ony breath. Lastly, TF in its current design is absolutely a tanking wep. It has been since the beginning of the game. No idea where you are getting that it isn't but its clear you haven't never played classic or didn't play classic era. Unless the weapon is redesigned, this will be a tanking weapon with the possibility of dps using it after a tank has acquired it.

@@joelswatten9611 Speed normalization does not work how you think it does. Normalization only affects AP scaling for abilities. The base damage (most of it) is still calculated from weapon damage. Higher damage (slow) weapons are still better. They're just not INSANELY better, like they were pre-normalization.

the simple answers >your main tank also, there is absolutely nothing wrong with rogue tanks, our rogue MT's our guild runs and he does more threat than any other type of tank ive ever seen, and usually ends up in the top 7 in dps. 'rogues are bad tanks' is a braindead take tbh

So pretty much if you care about who is the best to use it give it to a hunter, everyone else wont use it as well
