Poor Clyde, he never got paid off the thousands of songs that sampled his drum work. I always liked when songs give props to whom they’re sampling. Like chuck D in fight the power, or Pac on Bury Me a G.

Sinead O'Conner's "I Am Stretched On Your Grave" has the Funky Drummer drenched in it.

The era of hiphop sampled James brown songs was THE BEST!

I think the second most sampled break is Impeach The President but might be wrong. All 3 breaks were so influential for rap

In Brazil many rap groups used this funky drummer beat.

To this day i'm surprised that this isn't the most sampled track in hip hop. Pretty much every rapper in the 80s used this beat on at least one song.

i agree clyde shoulda gotten more money and recognition for this break being sampled, but im pretty sure prince ended up paying his hospital bills out of respect for his contributions

Yes they sure did! They also sampled public enemy's part ( 2:00 in this video ) in let's go get stoned. But definitely the drum beat of scarlet begonias is this one, that's the whole reason I watched this video to see who else used it
