I love listening to Adam Savage talk about the mythbusters days. In the "Am I missing an eyebrow?" episode they were testing if a cell phone could set off a fire at a gas station. They were testing fuel air mixtures in a taped together plexiglass box when it blew apart. Burned all his hair off. The cement truck was one of their famous scale ups. The original test was if a stick of dynamite could clear all the cement from a cement truck...it couldnt scratch it. So they scaled up, and detonated it with something like 500 pounds of high explosives, basically what we used to sink battleships with. He said the main reason they got to do all those explosions was because all the local bomb squads were super into it. The bomb squads apparently dont often get to practice their craft. They also thrive on seeing new explosives or ways bombs behave because the stuff they have to deal with is super unpredictable so every unique thing they see in practice helps their real job. So every time the mythbusters showed up with a new explosion to test or set off or a new object to destroy they jumped at the opportunity to help.

The Mythbusters episode where Adam looses his eyebrow was episode like 2. The episode with the cannon ball that went wide, bounced off someone's roof, went through their car window, and landed in their front yard did air. It was in season 8 or so. They blew up that cement truck cause of an urban myth of a cement worker leaving a full cement truck for too long and the cement hardened. He supposedly broke it up with tnt/dynamite. So, they tested to see how much tnt would be needed to break up a full cement truck. They were 2 miles from the explosion and pieces were still flying over their heads and wrapping around trees near and behind them.

I think in a Tested Q and A Adam Savage talks about the issue early on in Mythbuster's is that they used Pyrotechnicians when they did explosions. but the pyrotechnicians worked in movies and typically made movie explosions (small damage, lots of fire) so when it came to cement truck the technician used way too much dynamite or something. after that they got in contact with explosive experts instead.

I watch a bit of today's gun channels, and they are for the most part really tame. The guy who blew is face of happened to be an absolutely insanely unlikely event, and he was unable to even replicate the event without basically rigging the gun to explode. The ammo that he had bought had been tampered with to the point it practically became a bomb. For actual insanely dangerous channels, where I fully expect the owners to just disappear and stop uploading one day, there's the freedom of movement ones. Like Shiey's "illegal freedom", where he spends the time jumping onto moving trains, climbing tall buildings and structures (Some of it very old, and very rusty), hiking into Chernobyl, exploring abandoned and dilapidated buildings, etc. All illegal, and all watchable on KZread. It's very enjoyable to watch, but at the same time I completely expect this dude to never make it past the age of 30

If you noticed Will get a little uncomfortable when talking about the IDAT video, it's because the gun guy they were collaborating with, Brandon Herrera, had provided them with his range, his guns, his ammo, and his high level of specialized skills to make the whole thing safe and legal (as they would likely have accidentally made an illegal machine gun without his express guidance), and then IDAT used the video to shit all over him and his views I don't think Will necessarily had anything to do with it, but he definitely at least knows about it, which is why he may have seemed uncomfortable.

The Mythbusters cannonball incident was one of their later episodes, using a homemade cannon. They missed both the water barrel targets, and bounced off and over a hillside used as a berm, sending it completely through one house, bouncing off the roof of another, and smashed into a vehicle which finally stopped it. Nobody was hurt, they settled with the property owners, and started doing their tests a bit further away from the city. They weren't expecting it to travel a whole half a mile or so beyond their barriers. The cement truck incident was about a myth that you can use dynamite to clear dried cement out of the back of a cement truck, instead of spending weeks with a jackhammer. Due to a mishap, the truck ended up nearly full of dried concrete instead of a thinner layer, and Adam petitioned the producers to try and save the stunt purely for the boom factor, turning the cement truck into one of the world's largest to date pipe bombs.....which some stars from the show have admitted was really more about the boom than the myth.....

And if im not mistaken, this is why the insurance companies got sued for welding 2 halves of a car together to fix someone's car, cause those would eventually fold aswell and also super prone to completely getting crushed in their next accident

For anyone wanting more information about the "I did a thing" video about the robot dog. Check out Brandon Hererra's video on how it went down. They did him dirty, and maligned a lot of people for what was functionally an anti-gun hit piece. He let them use his range, his guns, his bullets, and his expertise. They lied to him about the nature of the video, and they left out a lot of their interactions with him. Like them giggling when he let them shoot some guns for fun, or how he sent him weird cutouts of kids, and pretended Brandon didn't point that out as strange. I could go on, but Brandon explains it better.
