If Skinners lets in 2 shaky goals early on, they need an instant goalie change and put Pickard in. Else they will chant Skinnnnnner and it goes downhill from there and team will play worse with Skinner in net. Pickard proved he can win and play well and if he goes in 2nd period after they're down 0-2, there's not much pressure on him because he's not the one who let in the 2 goals, therefore he might play even better. Oilers face the most pressure easily. They have been supposed to be the next best thing and like Toronto have been wasting that potential. Vancouver has really done nothing for a decade and seems to have found themselves and rebuilt the line-up on the fly. This is pretty good for a team that has missed eight of the last ten years and missed during the canadian division. Their best performance was when they snuck in through the qualifying round in 2020. They have won a round and could beat the Oilers without their starting goalie. It is all gravy.
Preasure on canucks since they don’t have their top players Brock and demko. Silov is getting tired mentally and physically. Prayers on Broeser for speedy recovery 🙏 May the best teams win 🏆

I had seen, going into the 2023-24 regular season, among Canada's NHL teams, the: - Leafs and Oilers qualify for postseason play via finishes in top-3 divisional spots, which those teams would end up doing, although shaky goaltending, including from Stuart Skinner and Ilya Samsonov, didn't help in the early going - Canucks, Jets and Sens as potential playoff teams as at best I had seen each team finish not better than 4th in its division, with my predictions for the: -- Western Canadian teams turn out to be wrong because they would join the Oilers and Leafs with finishes in top-3 divisional spots -- Sens turn out to be right as they would finish 2nd-last in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference - Flames and Habs finish out of playoff spots but between the two teams, the Flames finish higher in the standings, something that would happen albeit narrowly at 81 points to 76

@@Justinchin1604 You mean Oilers right? Canucks were never last place, they were always at the top. Pressures on them to win because no body expected Oilers to even make it to playoffs with their bad start.
I think the Oilers should be the ones under pressure, the last several years we the fans were told "this is the year" not so with Vancouver. I don't think many expected the Canucks to be almost winning the West when you consider the drama from the last 2 or 3 years.
I’d say the Oilers are facing more pressure because the Canucks are playing for pride. They have nothing to lose here since no one even thought they’d make the playoffs.
Pressure is for the Oilers for sure , they’re cup favourites at the start of season and playoffs. Huge expectations for that group. Obviously the Canucks will also have the home crowd pressure and internally they believe in themselves and know they can beat the Oilers when they play their A Game.
The home team usually feels more pressure than the visitors.
I feel like this is a must-win game for both teams tbh

Probably the Oilers. McDavid's and Draisaitl's contracts are ending pretty soon, so the Oilers probably want to maximize their primes as much as possible. This is probably one of their best chances to win.

When I think of game 7s, the Canucks will face some pressure because of not having qualified for a conference final since their 2011 Cup run. The Habs qualified for a Cup semifinal in 2021 and, like those Canucks, qualified for a Cup final but also, like those Nucks, lost. Before I get into why the Oilers also have pressure to win a Cup I thought I'd compare them to the 2023-24 Sens and 2021-22 Habs after 10, 20, 30, 40, 50, 60, 70 and 82 respective regular-season games, with this season's Oilers with relevant win-regulation loss-OT loss-shootout loss records of: - 2-7-1-0 (5 points) vs relevant ones by the Sens and Habs of 4-6-0-0 (8 points) and 2-8-0-0 - 7-12-1-0 (15 P), putting the Oilers 5 behind the Sens (10-10-0-0) but 3 ahead of the Habs (5-13-2-0) - 14-15-1-0 (29 P), 3 P ahead of the Sens (13-17-0-0) and 14 P ahead of the Habs (6-21-3-0) - 24-15-1-0 (49 P) vs respective 16-24-0-0 (32) and 8-25-7-0 (23) ones for the Sens and Habs - 31-18-1-0 (63), 22-26-2-0 (46) and 10-33-7-0 (27) - 38-20-2-0 (78), 25-32-3-0 (53) and 16-36-7-1 (40) - 43-23-3-1 (90), 30-36-4-0 (64) and 19-40-9-2 (47) - 49-27-5-1 (104), 37-41-4-0 (78) and 22-49-9-2 (55) The 2020-21 Habs' team that'd finished 24-21-8-3 earned 59 points in 56 games and thus would've been that season on pace for 86 or 87 points but because they finished 4th in the North Division and what'd counted was the finish in that division, they qualified for postseason action, going all the way to a Cup final. Little would those Habs know their window for going for a Cup would indefinitely slam shut just months later. This season's Oilers won't have a 2020s Cup final appearance to fall back on should they lose game 7 of this month's Oilers-Canucks playoff series.
The question isn't who is facing more pressure, it's who can handle it. Oil in7.
Obviously Oilers have all the pressure. They are cup or bust and Canucks don't have their all star goalie and best scorer on the team now that we are hearing. Hope he recovers quick and we can pull off a win.
Oilers are the underdogs in this series. Lost 5 in a row against Van this season before game 2 in OT.
Should be an easy Oiler victory tonight. Sources say the Canucks have a locker room divide and Toch can't rally them together.

We shall see considering that in game 6 Skinner only had to stop 15 shots but has been such a sieve that only in games 3 and 4 of the Kings-Oilers series did he otherwise have a save % of 90.0 or better. His was 93.3 during game 6 of this month's Oilers-Canucks series. Maybe if the Canucks test him, he'll wilt.
I think the blow out game could be the changer if oil come out like last game it will be there's to win they have so much more experienced goal scoring up front and they showed it in game 6 pressure will be on Vancouver Oilers are just a more experienced team in these situations

Its a stupid question. Both teaam.will feel the enormous weight of expectations, with career implications hanging.in.the balance, , and significant personal pride on the line. If one simply had to pick one over the other, i guess I would say the Oilers simply because they have the real superstar power, in Mcdavid, and have been perennial playoff contenders with big expectations that fell short a few years in a row. They were picked by always every pundit to win this series. Nonetheless, the canucks will still be just as gutted by a loss as anyone can be. First up - although I am a HUGE Canucks fan - thanks so much to both teams for making this THE series to watch. It's been awesome - maybe we need a Canadian League so we can get more of this instead of The Bettman's USA Bias League (31 years and no Canadian Champion - statistically impossible). Second - Canucks will respond and the other team will be leaking oil all night.

On top of that, they legitimately have a great chance at taking the series still. Personally, with the incredible weight of expectations on the Oilers, They really should be able to buckle down and play hard and come out with a win. I'd settle for the Gordie Howe from him...
Way more pressure on Vancouver. This roster of theirs has 0 playoff experience together and they haven't been in these games / moments. The Oilers roster has WAY more playoff experience in big games, they're used to it.

I don't think you understand how pressure/expectations work. Generally if you have more playoff experience, you're expected to win. Hence more pressure.
Oliers Canucks werent suppose to make the playoffs
