Note that Alpha likes soft leather so he doesn't have to break it in. Also if you opt for a classic style leather jacket, you can wear it for years -- and it will look better with age. For the best deals, you can catch leather jackets on sale or get discounts for signing-up for their mailing lists. So, come along with Alpha as he discovers there's not a lot of leather jackets to chose from -- check out what the stores have.
Bloomingdale's
This department store has a good selection of leather jackets. He points out the AllSaints leather jacket with a price point around $450. If you want a more rugged All Saints jacket like a biker jacket, the leather is amazing at $498! John Varvatos is another designer that makes beautiful leather jackets, but the selection is not huge. The leather is super soft. The downside is the price is high around $600 - $800, and even though the jacket is an investment, it's still pricey.
Banana Republic
The suede jacket is sexy, and he loves it. It's like a denim jacket in terms of the styling, and it's light-weight leather jacket. But at $450, he's unsure.
7 for All Mankind
The jacket is $800 with a soft and supple leather. It has a cool aesthetic and a crowd-pleaser. The motorcycle jacket is $1,000 -- it's very heavy and a cool style.
Topman, H&M, Forever 21
These three stores don't have real leather as it's out of their price comfort zone. But they'll have faux leather in the $100 - $300 range. For example, Topman's is $220 which is an option for vegans, but it definitely feels 'not leather'.
EXPRESS
They don't have a great selection: brown suede and a motorcycle, each at $300.
DIESEL
They have a good selection but very expensive. The quality is okay but better options are out there. Alpha points out a leather bomber with a pattern.
Coach
Coach leather jackets look beautiful, but they feel cheap now -- but for $1,200 the leather should feel amazing.
Macy's
He finds a leather jacket by Michael Kors for $199.99 and then also a Guess jacket for $225 that is not leather. For this price point, he recommends finding a jacket that is real leather.
