Who Knows? V-Strom 650

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

A friend who is looking to purchase a used motorcycle recently asked me how long can a Suzuki V-Strom 650 last? In theory I suppose a motorcycle can last forever as long as you keep replacing worn out components. I told him the Wee Strom is known for its reliability, versatility and exceptional value. I also have read that many owners have very high mileage on their V-Stroms with just regular maintenance. I personally would not hesitate to purchase a used V-Strom 650 with high mileage as long as the owner has maintained the motorcycle with regular oil changes and other scheduled maintenance, along with good record keeping and receipts. The Wee- Strom has a reputation for being a very reliable motorcycle.

At almost 50, I just got my riding licence a couple of years back. Been running around on my first bike, a small scooter, since 9 months ago to familiar myself with a motorised 2-wheeler. As a short rider, I shortlisted a CB500x & a Vstrom 650 for my eventual touring bike. I tested both bikes and I am amazed how well the Strom handles, smooth like butter, compare to the CB500x which has more vibration on mid RPM onwards. Planning to get one by mid of next year. I think a 650 is as much as I will ever need. I agree with you that as we age, all I ever wanted is to go place & enjoy my ride.

Thank you for the comment and your insight. I also have a small scooter that I enjoy riding. I actually do long distance touring on my scooter. It is a Yamaha Zuma 125. I stay off the freeways and mainly stick to the back roads which I prefer. It is a great way to slow down and see the countryside while also meeting the locals. You can't go wrong with a Suzuki V-Strom 650. It is a very dependable motorcycle with the proven and V-Twin motor that has a loyal following throughout the world. Take care out there.

@@BugOutVehicles I am a bicycle tourer and somewhat retired with time to spare. I totally feel you when u said to slow down & enjoy the countryside. Imagine a 1000miles tour that will require me at least 3 weeks of cycling (don't get me started on those inclined climbs...with loads!) against a week of a very easy ride on the motorcycle. I just want to go places for as long as whatever my health permits. It's a big planet. I am riding a Honda ADV160 at the moment. Loving it. Short of a rainfall, I am quite reluctant to drive anymore since I got my scooter.

@@zerogt1234 Impressive! I always wanted to try bicycle touring as I'm an avid mountain bike rider. I currently have a Bianchi electric mountain bike and a Santa Cruz analog bike. I could only imagine a 1000 mile tour cycling as you mentioned as it is beyond my skill level. The scenery of the countryside I'm sure is beautiful up close and personal on a bike. I do enjoy long peaceful rides that only a bicycle can offer but I have never done any long distance touring on a bike. Your Honda ADV160 is a great scooter! I also rarely drive anymore either. Two wheels for me is my go to transportation. Take care out there and ride safe.🛵🚲

Loved the video, I also have the same model V-Strom and make videos using a 360 camera, so much fun, I'll be 70 year old in a couple of months and God willing plan on riding a few more years, the V-Strom is the perfect bike for someone like me, we also have a Honda Goldwing that my wife comes riding on with me, we love it but its getting a bit heavy to handle now I'm a bit older, eventually we will move it on, but the V-Strom will be a stayer. Stay Safe happy days

Spot on about the Vstrom 650 and the KLR 650, two of my favorite motorcycles. The Vstrom 650 will do almost everything reasonably well with little drama.

I have a Versys x 300, love it. If you ever want to test ride it I am not far from this canyon. It works great for my 30 mile work commute and the occasional trail or fire road. I tried out a KLR 650 and much preferred the Versys 300 for my style of riding and the riding position.

Awesome! The Kawasaki Verseys X 300 has been on my radar since it was first introduced here in the states. It is a very cable and reliable motorcycle from what other Verseys owners have commented. As I get older I prefer smaller and lighter motorcycles. Take care and ride safe out there.

Hey Gary, always good to see you post. Question: do you still own your Ford and Truck Camper and the FJ. If you do, it would be good to see updates about those rigs. -Cheers

Gary thank you good to see your doing good, we have a beautiful day today here in Tennessee yesterday was rainy storming as was the day before. FYI I know That road drove home that way after a day at the lake. How are the “social conditions” around you in the high desert. I still own a home there, please speak freely on this. Retirement is good, I may do a video from here but then again I don’t want to add new neighbors. Peace and have a blessed holidays Fredrick Kaludis

Good to hear from you again. I do not know about the social conditions here anymore? I'm visiting an old friend and then on to Palm Springs and from there into Nevada for a while and Arizona. Take care out there.
