Because sometimes when a player being interviewed is put on the spot and asked a question like that, they don't always list players that they might otherwise have done if that haven't thought of that particular player's name at the time. If you ask anyone to list in their view the best players ever and they mentioned Messi, C Ronaldo and Zidane then it will only be a matter of time before someone asks "what about Best, Maradona and Pele?" Plus there's always been this whose the best from Gerrard, Lampard and Scholes question and it's impossible to give a definitive answer and gets a bit silly really when the likes of Carragher will say Gerrard, Neville will say Scholes and no doubt Terry would say Lampard because they all just choose their mate. How do you even define "the best" anyway and people wouldn't even be able to agree on the criteria used, let alone who actually was the best.

As a Notts Co fan, i have to say i LOVE the Lampard family. For football they have been exquiste. Dad, cousins, uncles. All legends of the game.

They had two players who could have made lampard and Gerrard work either individually or together. One was Scholes the other was Carrick. Sven, Capello and Hodgson were stupid.

People always speak about Lampards goals and some even discuss his assists which are also incredible. What people forget is how very rarely he was injured how often he played the full game. Always giving it his all unbelievable energy levels week in week out, season in season out. People just talk about the goals and how so many were penalties. Over 200 goals for the blues 💙 and no more than 50 were penalties. From LCM in a 4-3-3 most of the time not as a number 10. Zidane was a better player than Lampard I'm sure most would say and I may agree but with everything that Lampard brings to a team he without a shadow of a doubt be in my top 5 Cm's that I have seen play 2000-2023

4:30 you hear the love and awe in Frank's voice for Stevie. Everyone tries to make out like it's a bitter rivalry, but it's really the opposite. They're sort of in love with each other, and that's what makes the relationship so difficult.

The missing ingredient for gerrard and lampard in england while they are at their peak was someone like busquet or kante.

Wow, Lampard makes a point here that I've never heard before - that England players struggle to play together because they all play in the same league. Interesting theory and it kind of makes sense. Although I suppose a lot of Spanish players play together in Spain and they're not struggling to win tournaments (at least not a few years ago).

He's somewhat right... Spain ruled all the tournaments from 2008 - 2012 because all those who were in squad or playing 11 were either from Barca, Atletico or RM. Majority Barca.. They had the perfect sync. Look at them now.

I think the reality is, our players just aren’t good enough. If they were, then why don’t any of them get snapped up by Barca, Real Madrid, PSG? We need to copy whatever they’re doing in Germany, because they always have a killer team.

@@rorus9530 I mean they don't get snapped up one because those teams have a reluctancy to sign English players and two there are already plenty of good teams in the premier league, if you're English and coming through you're already in the best league in the world (in most people's opinions) Italians also mainly stay in Italy almost as much as the English.
