I think you guys missed out on the coolest bit of lore from this set. So Mishra and Urza they found these things called the mightstone and weakstone and then Tokeshi got between them and tried to stop them and take the stones but she got blown up and died. Otherwise a very good review 10/10

Elminster's Daughter is about one of his many children, who robs him and by the end she meets more of her half siblings. Did you also know that he blew up Tocasia in the Caves of Koilos and fled?

Definitely undervaluing Myrel as a commander for Soldier tribal. Her ability to shut people down on your turn is huge, and that attack trigger is amazing.

its probably a slightly worse Krenko. Adeline i would say is still a lot better than Myrel as a commander. I just dont like having to risk Myrel to get her ability. sure theres a lot in white to pump her to mitigate that but thats extra steps. Adeline pumps herself and doesnt have to attack herself

Apparently Goldbug is actually Bumblebee. Not sure why they had to change the name. Great video! Love the in depth explanations for all the commanders. Even the not so great ones.

Ashnod is really cool, she was definitely evil and had a staff that could kill a lot of people. She kept trying to help Mishra, he banished her a couple times and she did more things for him and came back, she was very loyal. It was in the final days when Mishra was surrounded by priests of Gix that she got really weary and when we found out about the phyrexians and that they had changed Mishra she gave the Silex Tawnos and told him to give it to Urza, relaying the instructions of how to use it. So she was eveil but she was ultimately aligned against the phyrexians.

The bit I love about Simic Tawnos is that you will never feel bad about being killed by Tawnos. The beast and bird deck is never a feel bad

Really excited to try to build out Soundwave. I love tokens, but I feel most token decks dont have much going on besides just either going wide or making interesting tokens. this one has a clear gameplan, but also feels like each game with it will be different. Also I love how each side kind of feels like different missions. feels like one of the most unique commander designs ive seen in a while

If you put X spells in the deck, you'll always be able to cast them for whatever amount of combat damage is dealt to players and convert Soundwave to boot. Seems fun 😆

I agree with some comments that Myrel is stronger than what you listed. Having grand abolisher in the command zone is quite a powerful effect, and the amount of times its caught people out from doing block/sacrifice shenanigans in my play group is already adding up. It also forces people to do combat "normally" which means as the combat deck you have the advantage. Also, the fact that the soldiers are artifacts adds that little extra twist so you can play stuff like Losheel. In a lower power meta where people don't run 4 tutors per deck, once she gets rolling, the timers ticking!

So many great commanders, don't know which to choose for my next deck. My only complaint with the video is that I felt there wasn't enough lore for Urza and Mishra discussed. Such as how Urza claimed the mightstone and Mishra the weakstone. But most sad of all was Tocasia getting blown up during the battle between the two brothers. Regardless, great video guys!

I like Tocasia, and Mishra mawa fawka. The Toymaker and that Jeskai monk/ advisor guy gives me hope for more cool dual tribal commanders in the future.

The original 80's transformers movie is one of my first memories. You know the biggest part of it I recall? A rockin 80's soundtrack.

Myrel is a grand abolisher+krenko+artifact synergist all in one (the tokens are artifact soldiers). Definitely underestimating this card a good bit yall.

Im exited to see if any of the new commanders from brothers war make it on the cedh database!

While he might not be a good commander, Hajar will be one of my few 2 mana legends in my Jodah the unifier deck. Cant wait to try him out.

I run a non combo Mishra deck, and it does fine in a combat meta, by using really strong etbs (DrachNyen and Ish Sah) you can keep a lot of creatures in check and sneak the 4/4s through

Prowl can also exile your own creatures. This can be good for getting ETBs a second time and for feeding his backside's ability as well

Urza puts his duty free shopping bag in the overhead bin on full flights. When you hand Mishra your phone to look at your pictures he will just start swiping through them without asking.

Interesting fact, if you have it urza lord protector next to Mishra claimed by Gix their arts show them fighting. They are each one half of a bigger art piece

The Mightstone and Weakstone were actually found in the caves of Koilos and as Mishra and Urza were fighting over them like children, because they kinda were children, their mentor Tocasia was killed by Colossal Dreadmaw just outside the caves. Thats actually how it happened.

There are also a ton more soldiers around than you guys seen to think, they have been around since almost the beginning and some of them have fairly decent abillities, although azorius isnt the best colors, should have been bant or jeskai and would be really decent.

Question (advice): if you were making an upgraded deck from the Urza precon, and you were lucky enough to pull both the Urza, Lord Commander AND Mightstone/Weakstone….would you include them in the deck as part of the 99? Or no?

Holy molly, Ezuri, claw of progress is rank 1175?? O_o he was my baby commander many years after release, flavorful, not broken but powerful. Bumblebee IS Goldbug. Lore is he died in the cartoon and was rebuilt as Goldbug, and the reason they chose him is because Goldbug is the name he uses in the Shattered Glass storyline. Same reason why Slicer isn’t Wheeljack

If you want 4-6 power level Commanders, perhaps we could adjust the spreadsheet rankings to not give more points the stronger it is?

at 49:30 its not more than 2 relationships but Ral has canonically been in 2 different relationships which i only remembered because finding out your parter is cheating on you and that causing your spark to ignite feels like a really low bar to pass especially when compared someone like Gideon

the biggest fear for me when i would play mishra is a nice one mana exile effect.

In the mishra precon you can get cursed mirror and brunaclad working and it is ridiculous.

Cant wait to build a Jodah Deck with all Transformers and maybe even put all the Saturday Morning Cartoon Secret Lair cards into it for more flavor.

There are only like 4 regular transformers based on sound, and what, 6 (?) Minicons. Minicons are smaller helper transformers like Soundwave's tokens: Ravage and Laserbeak that are the cassette tapes.

Hajar looks dumb at first glance, but there are possibilities! If you can get out Helm of the Host, you can make copies of Hajar that can sacrifice themselves to protect your commander when needed. I'm actually making a Hajar voltron deck, and it's not all that bad honestly - you get a 2 mana 3/3 for a commander, how often can you say that?

But if you manage to kill the urza meld planeswalker, the person playing the deck cant meld him ever again, because the might and weakstone will be exiled. Or am i wrong?

As far as I know they both go to the graveyard if Urza is attacked or destroyed

It would be intersting to here why Urza joins as being a 10 Power making there be only 7 cards with a power level of 10. His ability alone to meld is 7 where Mishra's is a free meld when attacking with a piece that can be unearthed. If Urza Dies the chance to get its meld piece back seems difficult.

Yo Beezy, you still got your Grismold deck? Wondering how you feel about Gruesome revelation in it. I’m trying it cuz I like the much needed -1/-1 wipe, and then it’s a bad draw spell when you have no board and need cards. Thoughts?

Beezy never built a Grismold deck. It was how ever one of out favorite tune up decks ever. I think you should try it and see how it plays for you.

the reason why the second ashnod doesn't work with mana abilities is that it can't: mana abilities can't be copied, ever. the card says it can't only because many people don't know, but you could remove that piece of text and it would still not work with the altar.

​@@NitpickingNerds Not a judge, so I may be wrong, but my understanding is that rule 605.3b says "An activated mana ability doesn’t go on the stack, so it can’t be targeted, countered, or otherwise responded to. Rather, it resolves immediately after it is activated." so ashnod ability would need to trigger and go on the stack, and can't do it. Ashnod trigger would need to become a mana ability, but it can't because of rule 605.5a that says "An ability with a target is not a mana ability, even if it could put mana into a player’s mana pool when it resolves. The same is true for a triggered ability that could produce mana but triggers from an event other than activating a mana ability" either it's always a mana ability, or it's never one

I swear i've seen urza's battlethopter in one of the bayonetta games before.

If you like those creature type mishmash decks you should see my Mari deck ;)

Speaking of revising your ratings, my boy Reki needs to be a lot higher. I'm with Beezy on 1 MV Ashnod being dope as hell. She is kid of one of those "engine and finisher" commanders, but I still love her.

Blaster was not an original transformer, he was introduced much later because soundwave was so popular, atleast that is what I can remember from the cartoons and like 40 years ago or whatever.....

You guys are one of those things in life that you wish you could wipe your memory of so that you could experience it for the first time again! I got into Commander about a year ago and you guys quickly became my BIBLE for EDH. I’ve now watched every video you guys have ever made and I have had so much fun and learned so much along the way. Sorry to be sappy. K bye thanks guys! !!

After watching your video I got really interested in Starscream, and as a Mono White or Boros player currently this is certainly an odd attraction lol. It's a shame to see he only has 29 community deck lists so far, he really seems to have been skipped over by majority of players and I wonder if this applies to all of the Transformer cards. I'm assuming I'll have to look at the common black staples used for other mono black commanders and then flail around in the dark while I figure out the rest of the list on my own :(

Any and all searches for discussion I've found on the card is just a mess of people complaining about transformers even being in the card game, completely ignoring the design and playability of the card itself
