I’m really thankful to live in a country (Ireland) where we are strengthening legislation around decision making to prevent people from taking rights away from certain cohorts including older people. It’s happened for far too long. Gaslighting an older person for making some errors in spite of a solid overall record of success and hard work is elder abuse. Suggesting their autonomy be removed is elder abuse.

I emigrated to America in March of 1963 and am saddened to see some of the changes that have taken place over the years. The education system has been infiltrated by folks with an agenda that is trying to undermine family and marriage. This state of affairs has found its way into new media too. And top all this off our politicians have completely lost their sense of shame. I agree with the opinion being expressed that Joe Biden is no longer capable to fill the role of president of the united state. Final word if you are catholic voting Democrat or for Joe Biden shows lack of discernment.

Undermine family and marriage? For decades the US has hardly been a bastion of moral leadership. Divorce, abortion - legal and illegal, contraception etc. have been embedded there for some time. Materialism, careerism and pursuit of wealth have been driving forces, particularly post-WW2. The place is a mess. Biden shouldn’t support abortion as a Catholic. The other guy is no better - an adulterer, convicted fraudster, who paid for abortions for mistresses out of his own pocket. Neither are worth voting for.

The "debate" was in effect watching two childlike "men" bicker in the schoolyard. It was pathetic and horrifying at the same time. The days of the great men are long gone and this is what we are left with. The future is terrifying and only God can intervene now.

I often reflect on how we were encouraged to think broadly in History...and how many subjects are now simply rooted in contemporary neo_marxist ideology..I think our journalism on the whole reflects this rootedness..hence media are blind to many perspectives. Your point about assumptions on our superiority geographically might also apply historically..the past had faults but also wisdom.

He wasn’t referring to the president when he said that. As you know he has quite the cutting tongue. In the US there is a running joke referring to Biden as “ Brandon” . I thought he was doing that as well but Jake Tapper, no friend of Trumps, pointed out the person he was speaking of.
