Steven failed the vibe check.

I kind of like this more than the actual sequence the show goes with. The body horror is real, but what really makes us uncomfortable is how scared Connie is. In canon, it's good that we had all of Steven's family experiencing the transformation; no doubt, that's a plus. But compared to the other panic attacks and breakdowns we had in say, Rose's Scabbard or On The Run, the Gems don't display as much emotion towards Steven's pain. Then stuff they did with Spinel, and then White Diamond, just completely killed the tension. What direction did they give Christine Ebersole? That this was suppose to be comedy? I like the idea that misery is self-centered, and doesn't help anyone. But why was that moment trying to inspire laughter or cuteness?

Why is it that I love to see Steven all sad and angry, but I also feel bad for him and want it to stop at the same time? Why do we need to have such complicated feelings?

I honest wish stevens corruption was slower and more deep instead of it just bursting, like him slowly starting to grow purple and get the horns and such. And I also would have liked if Steven had a little bit of his corrupted form in him even when he was better. Like the other corrupted gems they had pieces of there corrupted self in them and to see maybe like little purple splotches on Steven after he was I corrupted would have been like scars of his past and such.

i agree that it was rushed, but was is hyped that much tho? imagine if that villain shot wasnt there, leading to the theory be way more obscure? the result would've been a bigger shock - i just wish we had more of Stevens perspective when it happened (not that i don't want to see the gems perspective too)

I've seen a lot of corruption animatics before.. BUT THIS IS AMAZING. its my favorite one so far. you're so creative- these ideas in your animatic I haven't seen in any other art or videos. I love how the spikes come from the ground and the bandages on his hands! I want this to happen in the show!! I haven't seen those ideas anywhere else. This is truly amazing! I love this so much!!

I love how the climax of 20 episodes worth of SU was solved with a group hug and lasted 1 episode. Not even like a 30 minute special. The biggest, most anticipated part of the whole series both began and was resolved in the same damn episode. With a group hug

Oh my gosh. This is one of the best animatics I’ve seen! I love how you show Steven slowly breaking down until he finally looses himself. He’s slowly becoming his mother, and you especially showed that in this animatic! You did an incredible job! Never stop drawing! :)

I thought so too but in the shot where the bathrooms broken hes in his PJ's, when he shattered jasper he came straight from the woods to the beach house and had his usual clothes on. I think this steven woke up and saw he was more corrupted and caused an outlash of violent power

I wish we got something like this in the show I'm sad all we got was a burst of energy out of Stevens back then suddenly dragon monster I wish we saw Steven corrupted and start having spikes form on him

THANK YOU!! I have been saying the same thing i mean they have been hinting and hypeing up steven corruption for so long and i executed him to slowly corrupt like here but nope what we got was "IM JUST A MONSTER" then boom black screen and oooh hey he's a monster now oh hey how cool and the quality of the corrupted form looks nothing like the one in the promo except the neck and up thats it and the rest looks rushed and then when he changes back maybe well get a cool animation and nope its just cut to steven being normal i mean the jasper corruption scene was way better compared to what we got for steven and its a huge let down

I remember my SU phase. Monster/Corrupted steven was one of my favorite things to dig into since the fan designs had such great ideas!

omg ok so. I know this is super sad and really well made but the little "oh" at the end made me laugh super hard

We got to remember that it’s still a kids show, and while it did get serious in SU:F, the crewniverse isn’t going to show the main character going through such a brutal corruption like that

Watching this after the finale just,,hits different especially at 0:48,, I CRIED

*Spoilers* I would have loved if the final episodes would have ended like this! It would be a lot more dramatic and epic to see Steven become the worm, than just pink spikes coming out of his back...

Same! The ending and the fact that he got corrupted and uncorrupted in a single episode is anti climatic and, quite frankly, a letdown (atleast for me.)
