Dang. Ellen Ripley’s life was so tragic. She had 4 men if her life (I’m including Hicks because their chemistry was good in aliens). Two of them were jerks, while two of them were killed by the things she was destined to destroy. She had a daughter who was killed before she ever saw her again, and the girl who was like a daughter to her (Newt) was killed. Then she had to make the ultimate sacrifice so everyone could stay safe. If that’s not a legend, I don’t know what is.

Damn, turns out Dallas was a pretty cool guy. I feel extra bad that he died now.

This was a great exploration of the lore and I like how you always put a narrative spin on this kind of stuff, as if you're giving a historical report or something. Plus, the ambient music and your calm voice add a great deal to the over all presentation. You're a great asset to the Alien fandom. Thank you for this and your various contributions. As far as Amanda goes, I think this adds to the tragic nature of her and Ellen's lives. It seems her's was nearly as tragic as her mom's. That being said, I still maintain hope that Burke was lying about her fate and that Amanda's just been sleeping in cryo in the stars somewhere and that there's a possibility that she might come back... And also, who knew Dallas was not only a good captain just trying to do his job, but also a really great guy too :,-( It explains how close he and Ellen were...

Every new Alien Theory video is immediately devoured by me, in a drooling Xenomorphic frenzy! I have a question on this one - about the continuity in the novel. How did Dallas send a message to Amanda when they were passing by Saturn? The entire crew would have been in hibernation at the time, as it would take many weeks to even reach Saturn.

I've enjoyed DeCandido whenever I've read him - I particularly enjoyed his I.K.S. Gorkon series that took place in the Star Trek universe; he was actually kind enough to reply back to me when I'd asked him if there were going to be any more books (sadly no). I'll have to give this novel a read. Amazing video as always AlienTheory, your fans appreciate the time and effort you put into them.

Great video as I love anything Alien: Isolation related. Have you done any videos on the director commentary tracks? I watched Covenant’s commentary last night and Ridley Scott was hilarious in it. But it was also pretty insightful. Maybe a video highlighting some of the things he talks about could be worth it.

We need an "Alien Isolation 2" with Amanda Ripley!!!

We really need a sequel! So funny story, I took my friend to see alien in September, he’d never seen it in theaters so it was going to be a special night! But it turns out our screening was part of the femme-wave film festival in Calgary, Canada, and it was certainly festive! There was a bar IN the theater as well as the lobby, and almost everyone was in their cups, made for a shall we say, raucous and energetic crowd. Not ideal for this film but it was a total blast seeing 18-80’s coming together for the wildest theater experience of my life! And there was a super rad all-gal synthwave band to warm the crowd up, 5 stars would watch alien again 8D

While I do like the stuff with Dallas, I absolutely hate the idea that Amanda's dad was a deadbeat. It's such a tired idea. I'd even argue that it would've taken less thought to not flesh out Amanda's dad than what they came up with. Would it have been so bad to have it be as simple as have Amanda's father be a dedicated and loving father? And when Ripley disappeared with the Nostromo the loss hit Amanda's father significantly, yet he never stopped being a good father. And that is what inspired Amanda to find her mother, not just for her sake, but for her father? I dunno, I'm just tired of the deadbeat dad trope.

Read the Alien: Isolation paperback and my only disappointment was that it wasn't longer. I also just finished Alien: Prototype which is novel centered around the Zula Hendricks character. Thoroughly enjoyed this novel as well.

😏 I am wondering if we're going to actually see Amanda Ripley in the new aliens tv show when it comes to fx network. I'm hoping we do. She is truly a great character, well she hasn't been in any alien movies but she has been in the alien isolation Xbox game. Just saying it would be nice to see her in one of the episodes.

You know I saw Alien when it first came out and like a lot of people and I loved it. I have not read any of these books or played any of these video games that came out. I am sure they are fun. I do not believe that they should become part of the Alien Connon, they go off in other direction of maybe, could have. Reading them for pleasure is one thing, trying to put them out in the orginal story line is another.

Thanks to our current Isolation and the financial impact it has had on Disney, I doubt as new owner's of the franchise they are willing to gamble on an expanded universe film (or series). I'm new to the Alien EU beyond the films and have been enjoying learning about this new to me content that's out there. I got some catching up to do. Thanks for these videos, totally epic.

An Alien Isolation movie would be great, plenty of really good back story in the book. And another full video game.

If you like playing hide and seek with an 8ft Alien, it's your game. I just couldn't take Amanda's muffled screams anymore after i got her killed for the 90th time.

I have seen all the Alien movies, I have played Alien vs Predator extinction on PS2, and have the Alien The Cold Forge book (but haven't read yet) that's all :( But I want more movies. I want to see a baby queen and an alive queen facehugger

Not sure about the whole 'Isolation on the switch' thing.....IMO you're hardly gonna have a _terrifying experience_ on a handheld device with a dinky 3 inch screen and teeny little speakers....- Great for the wonderful Zelda titles and many Nintendo / indie games, but Horror needs to be _enveloping_ to be effective!........And, as great as Isolation was, a sequel could definitely improve upon the formula (more dynamic lights throwing weird shadows as they move.....You see this in Isolation when the ship passes outside the air terminal windows before the shutters come down, but never really gets used again (to my memory) / a more intricate & detailed ambient soundscape (think Dead Space 1) / The ability to turn off HUD elements (like the interaction HUD when opening various doors with tools etc, drove me crazy taking me out of the moment)....And mostly a greater beleif in the written script material, so they don't offset it against action trope bs again.

What if Dallas never died, and he picked up Amanda? Not that it makes any sense.

If I directed a film adaptation we'd see Amanda, alone in her quarters, after talking to Samuels, the camera would slowly pan to her sitting on a window ledge, overlooking Gateway Station, staring out the window, listening quietly to her mother's distress call, we'd then cut to a screen of stars, from Amanda's point of view, and would slowly zoom into the stars as the music and Ellen's message plays. Wonder. Amanda would stand up, and proceed to take Samuel's up on his offer, cut to the next scene. This would be the track I'd use. Alien Isolations`s story is a great expansion of the original story and it stays true to every part of the original story while adding so much more understanding to the world of alien(s). We learn that Wayland Yutani is the biggest player in the field of space-jobs and also in creating artificial persons. We also learn about competitor companies that fail to compete against Wayland Yutani, even though they are extremely succesful on earth.
