The Hybrid Xenomorph (New Beast) of Alien III and its influence on Prometheus + Alien Covenant

Born on Anchorpoint Station, the New Beast of William Gibson's Alien III is a Hybrid Xenomorph containing alien and human DNA. Could the lifecycle of this beast have influenced Prometheus and Alien Covenant?

Not to mention that the queen doesn't need an egg sac to reproduce, she can inject her eggs into viable hosts just like how a female wasp can egg sting a catapillar and impregnate it. My guess is that the queen either had another reproductive system when she broke off her sac and stowed away on the Sulaco. I saw somewhere on the net an unofficial chart of the alien queen's anatomy and there were a few ducts that ran from where her egg sac starts which is right underneath her tail

@@EvilXero359 Absolutely. The queen never needed that long egg sac to lay eggs. That sac was just so she could place eggs around a large area. She can lay eggs out of her body without that. That doesn't lay the eggs, the queen does. So she never needed the egg sac. That would grow over time as she ran out of space to lay eggs, so she didn't have to move around her massive bulk, she could just hang there and lay constantly. And the sac would move around placing the eggs she laid around the room she was in. I just couldn't get how people couldn't see this. Why does she need that sac to produce the eggs? She doesn't. She never did. That queen was not born with that long egg sac attached to her. Otherwise it would likely kill her to rip away from it like she did.

For some reason, I can see the Hybrid as acting a lot more aggressive than the Xenomorph. I know that's saying a lot but here's what I mean; Xenomorphs are generally stealth hunters, lurking in shadows and out of sight to pounce on you, whereas I can easily see the Hybrid actively roaring and screaming as it doggedly runs after each and every person it can. Something about its face, with those beady red eyes, makes me think it'd behave more maniacally and frenzied, like the human part of it is crazy with fear and confusion and the Xeno part is actively using that to fuel its actions. Contrasting this to the more cautious and stealthy behaviour of the Xenomorph and I think it'd be a horrifying and jarring sight in a live action movie.

The queen was hidden in there for some time and she could have deposited it in that area in the time between escaping Acheron and revealing herself inside the Sulaco, also, the metamorphosis burster is a GREAT idea, an Adult Xenomorph emerging through a host is Terrifying indeed.

I absolutely love William Gibson's take on the Alien franchise! Even though I don't mind the original Alien 3 myself, he just seems to give all the loved characters of Aliens a better ending, while still leaving room for a fourth. I feel like the characters Bishop and Hicks needed more exploring, which in this version we do get more of an insight. I do wish they had done this rather than the original Alien 3 through but am glade that they've done comics and audio books. Also, you should do a video on the short story 'Broken' which gives the character Bishop more background. Anyway, Thanks Alien Theory!

I read the this graphic novel recently and it definitely had some interesting ideas that appeared later in the Alien series, although Gibson says in his foreword that he was working from a treatment so it's unclear which ideas he came up and which were part of the treatment. The Xenomorph/Human hybrids featured in Alien resurrection and them being aggressive towards standard Xenomorphs is also in his script, they also explicitly discuss the Xenomorphs being a developed weapon rather than a naturally occuring lifeform which is a major plot-point of Prometheus and Covenant. It would be interesting to know exactly who came up with these ideas.

If you go by the prequels, there's really no good answer to the question aside from "just cause" (i.e., narrative convenience). But a lot of the expanded universe works (e.g., books and graphic novels) depict the species that created/cultivated the xenomorphs as being Abusive Precursors. Right bastards that other galactic civs hated and feared. Even the Yautja had a war/run ins with them according to the "newer" books. The xenomorphs are less of defense against a greater threat; more of a case of a tool used by the greater threat to punch down against everyone else.

Apologies to all for the necro-post but I found this post and question quite interesting. Particularly with the current day war and the push towards automated weapons platforms in the forms of drone warfare. The simple answer as to who or what would need such things; A military mind would likely argue that you can always use more and better weapons. We need look no further than the research and development of biological and chemical weapons. The majority of our species sees the development of such weapons as borderline pure evil yet many of the most advanced nations have in the past and likely are currently developing such weapons. Why? Because. Because we always need better weapons. Or so the idiots at the top think. It is one of the points I always hated about the Aliens expanded universe. The constant obsession with creating a new weapon out of a nearly uncontrollable beast. Yet, despite the very real fears and warnings against developing AI for military applications, we are running headlong into creating our very own Skynet scenario. Humans as a species, while possessing many great gifts of intellect are quite brainless. We have a galaxy worth of resources to use and capitalize on yet we fight over a single planet worth of resources. So petty and small minded. We waste valuable assets to kill ourselves while we remain virtually defenseless against a stray asteroid that could in a blink erase us all from creation. It is in that instance that I can see the "Who and what would want one." We would. Because one more weapon. Doesn't matter that the weapon would annihilate us. Doesn't matter that it is functionally worthless to us. We always want the next weapon. Any way, thank you to those who take the time to read this necro-post. Apologies once again.

I liked ALIEN3... The Xenomorph coming from a dog or the yak (depending on what cut you watch) was great and it shows how the alien DNA incorporates the hosts DNA into the species.

Thing is doesn't explain why the aliens in aliens look like the alien in the first one aren't they supposed to take on the form of their in ways? If so why is Alien 3 different from the first 2

@@beverlyarcher546 the alien in the original alien was birthed from a human, the aliens in aliens were also birthed from humans, hence why they look similar in the first 2 films (although I’ll admit it’s odd that seemingly none of the colonists had pets or had their pets impregnated/consumed).

I’m always up for well written Xenomorph horror/action! Although I don’t know how there can be another prequel as the last one was really awesome and answered the remaining questions. Unless we get a new sequel that takes place shortly after Alien 3 and adds in components of the last prequel. That would make for a nice wrap up to the prequels.

Actually, I don't get it as to why they could not make stand-alone movies set in the Aliens universe. That would have allowed for various stories to take place with different heroes. Also, some could appear in more than one movies, perhaps in some of the movies they could appear together etc. but not necessarily. We could have incredible movies. Also, today, we probably do have the tech background to create a series. It would cost less to create a series than it would have 20-30 years ago if CGI is considered. I'd love a Colonial Marines or "Colonies" series. It would rock so much!

The truth is while Alien 3 gets bashed and criticized often, it is still a great film that I feel has gotten better with age. I truly think this version of Alien 3 would have been bashed just as severely as Finchers version because of how unique it is. I mean how does one follow the first two film. The truth is, there was no easy way to do so. I personally really enjoy Finchers version and it’s bleak take on the franchise.

NovaPrime Productions But wouldn’t you agree though that it still would not have been received as well as the first two. In a unique way, you could almost say Alien 3 makes the first two even better. Even though, I’m a big Alien 3 fan.

NovaPrime Productions Although it is not executed to the best potential that it could have been, Alien 3 did show how the xenomorph would grow and react different coming from a dog in stead of a human. I think the dog Alien in certain scenes (Im aware it looks awful in certain scenes haha) are some of the best in the entire series.

  • @magnum1165
    @magnum11653 жыл бұрын

I just recently read the William Gibson's Alien 3 comic and I have to say the concept of the hybrid was cool and its design was fierce looking and its birth was horrific but I found it strange that the "pure blood" (if you wanna call it that) xenomorph rejected the hybrid and even killed it at the end, I guess it sensed it wasn't 100% like it and took it as some kind of abomination kinda like how Predators look at Predaliens

The only downside to the comic adaptation was the art style and the lack in feeling of suspense due to the coloring and not enough emphasis on the hybrid.

I just recently found this on audible, and it's not until I find the graphic novel that I finally understand the ramifications and horrific terror of the transformation. Just imagine if that'd happened. It'd be worse than resident evil's t-virus as you wouldn't know what was happening until the moment it happened, especially if you were somehow aware of it the second before your mind disappeared. If anything, an airborne strain of xenos would be MUCH worse than facehuggers; those would just happen one at a time and would depend on how many eggs were already on hand, but with an airborne means of infection, you could infect hundreds or thousands, and you wouldn't know until it was too late
