Who hates AA's? Easy Apple Trackpad LiPo Conversion

Wasteful, disposable batteries are one of my pet peeves, its definitely up there with being locked in with DRM media for your printer or whatever.
Fortunately there is something we can do about it.
I show you how I made my trackpad rechargeable, there are definitely other ways. If you're clever enough you may even be able to make a battery adapter that screws in without having to drill a hole in your beautiful aluminium framed trackpad.
Mine was already in a poor state with a missing foot and some damage, so I didn't care. Outwardly it looks like any other A1338 Trackpad, and I'm happy with that.

*UPDATE* It's held its charge for about 8 to 10 days with no issues so far. My Mac reports a slowly decreasing battery percentage. The battery is now at 3.45v and the AMS1117-3.5 is outputting 2.56V, that is way better than I imagined it would work for this scenario! Yes a new, not half worn out old phone battery would have been a better idea... but saving $10 by using an old thing which would otherwise have gone to a recycling centre is also OK. It pretty much exactly emulates the voltage range the trackpad would see if it had premium AA's in it. Now I wonder which device is next? *Looks sideways at my TV remote*

*Confirmed* the battery lasts 10 days on a single charge, which is not so bad considering it had finished its course in an iPhone years earlier. There is plenty of room for a larger battery, perhaps even 3 of the same type, but because it can be charged while in use this is good enough.
