Who Gave Snow White This Attitude?

Ойын-сауық

Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot keep telling the press how horrible the old Snow White was. According to them, the new Snow White is a girl boss that doesn't need a man to save her. Great.

This is why I love the Cinderella remake. It was exactly like the animated disney and they made it so magical and all the costumes were so absolutely gorgeous. Absolutely no girl-bossing and just pure nostalgia and great acting.

it was great. cinderella wasn’t a good role model because she “didn’t need a man,” it was because she was kind and took care of herself when no one would. she was confident in herself without being mean and that’s why the prince loved her. that’s a much nicer story to teach a child-loving yourself and others through kindness and adversity rather than being mean and individualistic.

i dont get why they are so against the idea of Snow White being saved? As a kid, I used to think that the moral of the story was that help can come from anywhere and anyone (the hunter who let her flee, the 7 caring dwarfs, and the prince) and that there’s hope for her to be loved sincerely despite her background. I also admire her tenderness! To stay kind, despite living in an abusive environment growing up IS strength in itself.

It's been a minute since I've seen the animated version but I really don't recall the original being a "girl power" film. If Disney wanted a movie like that - again - why didn't they just write an original script instead of literally obliterating a film that is so iconic and classic? And then the Writer's Guild goes on strike...derp!

My grandmother saw this film when it originally was in the movie theatre back in the day and what stuck the most with her was how terrifying the Queen was. I think the fact that this was based on a fairytale that is way older than from 1937 only proves how timeless and still relevant this story still is. I will not watch it in the theatre, but I will definitely show the original to my children when I have them.

Because of what disney has been doing, I was pleasantly surprised with 'elemental' and how we FINALLY got a new love story. Not just a remake (although, clearly they haven't been having their live action remakes of movies keep the love story part), and it's not like the main character was 100% independent. Congrats for being THE Snow White! I’m reminded of my favourite read of last year, “Piranesi” by Susanna Clarke. One of the reasons why it was so memorable is because the protagonist has the qualities the original Snow White does: he’s pure, kind, generous… naïve, yes, but always seeing the good in the world and giving it his best in return. It was so refreshing to follow a hero that’s not the smug, snarky, don’t-need-nobody types with chips on their shoulders we see all the time nowadays. Please. I’m already a snarky nobody with a chip on my shoulder so I don’t need to see any more of those in my fantasy stories, thanks.

It breaks my heart that Snow White was done this way because Snow White was the film that launched Disney's career and he deemed it as his family's proudest achievement. Everything started with Snow White, but the studio can't respect it. I don't mind Snow White being more independent, but this is going too far. As harsh as this sounds, just as the original Snow White marked the true beginning of Disney, I think live action Snow White will destroy it.

Rachel Ziegler is correct "It's not 1937 anymore" from 1937 to 2013 (with the release of Frozen), Disney released full length animated movies that followed the original 1937 snow white formulae of good story telling, high production values, and a great musical score. As a kid, snow white was one of my favourite princesses. I literally saw beauty in her SNOW WHITE skin and accentuated red lips and dark raven hair. That is what made her iconic. That blue and yellow dress is what made her iconic. The fact that she was treated like a queen by 7 men and was able to live comfortably is what made her iconic as the very first Disney princess. To clarify, I'm brown. As a kid I never saw skin colour and I just thought that snow white was so beautiful with the way that she was. I don't wanna see no brown actress playing the princess from my childhood, that's not how I saw and viewed her at all. It's really irritating. I just wanted to see the princess from my childhood made real, not different.

the one thing about snow white that people keep overlooking is that She always stays positive despite her hard life, Her father is dead, her step mother is abusive and Making her wear raggedy clothes and making her into a servant literally the first time we see her is she is freaking washing a stair with nothing but a small brush or what ever it was and sighing in exhaustion. She live a life of misery and she still manage to be kind. HER SONGS ARE ALL ABOUT TO STAY BRAVE AND KIND IN HARDSHIPS. My absolute favorite Line in any disney song is "There's no use in grumbling, when rain drops comes tumbling, remember you is the one who can fill the world with sunshine," like PLEASE THIS IS AN A LESSON THAT I WILL NEVER FORGET, SHE WAS NEVER A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS BECAUSE SHE WAS SAVING HER OWN ASS SINCE THE VERY BEGIINNING, SHE HAD A MOMENT OF WEAKNESS AND CRY BECAUSE WHO WOULDN'T? LIKE SHE WAS ALMOST GET ASSASINATED FOR WHAT? BEING PRETTY? REMEMBER THAT SHE IS 14 IN THAT MOVIE. She ensures her survival by trying to find a shelter, she gets to live with the seven dwarfs in exchange for doing the houseworks for them. All her songs are about staying positive and dream big. Remember, she is so kind to everyone that the huntsman who was supposed to kill her spared her life and brought a boar heart in her place because he could not bring himself to kill her, even though he knew if he were found out, he would be killed. She is such a positive influence that the dwarves are willing to risk their lives to save her. They were just living their lives, doing the same thing every day and then this girl comes and helps them see the joy in their lives. She might have been doing the housework, but she saw what was good in them and helped them see their value. The prince is at the end of the movie, after most of the plot has played itself out. He is the reward for her never losing hope and for being so kind and compassionate.

I do find it odd that a princess is in a castle with no staff. In Frozen, they did cut the staff by a big deal, but not only do we know the reason, there is still SOME staff, Gerda and Kay, who coincidentally are the names of the main characters of the original Snow Queen cartoon I watched on VHS as a kid which aarently had a second English dub, the second one is awful but the original was good. Original dub I shoudl claify. Same for Cadcaptors, good original dub but when season two came out ia few years ago, they brought in new VAs and it sounded ridiculous. I mean, Augumon has a VA in Digimon 2020 that is odd but it still kind aworks, but Keiro wonly has one proer VA and deviating from that is an ear nightmare.

It’s so sad because the story of the original women who voiced Snow White is very bitter sweet. Her name was Adriana Caselotti. In the original film there weren’t any credits so her name isn’t even mentioned in the film only the animators have there names at the start but none of the voice actors so most people don’t even know her name. At first she wasn’t even told that she was recording audio for a full on feature length film it was only as the work was almost completely that she knew the full scale of the project. She also wasn’t invited to the premiere of the movie and wasn’t allowed into the theater, (neither was the guy who voiced the prince because back then inviting the voice cast to a film premiere wasn’t even a thought) Also after the film came out she was going to do a radio interview to talk about her role but Walt prohibited her from doing so. He wanted her voice to be preserved as the forever voice of Snow White so Adriana never voice acted and acted in any film again especially anything with singing. She’s only known for voicing Snow White (just THE most iconic animated character ever but no big deal) The only things she did was sing as Snow White at events and stuff like that. She even got a Snow White themed well in backward. Then this chick comes along and says “oh falling in love is so 1930s” Adriana must be rolling in her grave. And honestly in a time when there was a lot more sexism and stuff like that just the fact that the first ever animated film had a female protagonist that wasn’t even sexualized (apart from the kissing) was very progressive for the time. At the time most cartons had female characters that were very sexy and over the top so Snow White was pretty modest as a comparison. And not only that but the first ever animated film stared two iconic women. The first ever animated film protagonist and villain were both women.

When she died and the dwarfs mourned her it was really and truly moved me to tears not because she was a leader and not for what she did but for who she was, a well-natured and kind friend that they had in their house and accepted her into their home as part of them. And that evil comes for the most dumbest of reasons (ego essentially) and can creep in in the most unsuspecting way. In what way is this movie outdated? There are seven villains that the school worshipped for their "qualities" (Queen of Hearts for strictness, Scar for persistence, Ursula for benevolence, Jafar for mindfulness, Evil Queen (she was named "Fairest Queen" lol) for her tenacity, Hades for diligence and Maleficent for nobility). Evil Queen in the game was exactly as you describe minus the fact that she tried to murder Snow White (in the og tale, she attempted thrice; it shows her dedication :D) and any other crimes, otherwise the villains wouldn't be seen in a good light would they 🤣 (MC's the only who sees the seven villains' true colors though)

Oh, you're talking about Snow White and the revenge of the dwarves. The film is not bad, but alas, it is also about nothing. As if in a dream, the best one so far is “Snow White: A Scary Tale”, there is an actress both according to the canon, and also a re-interpretation + a more mature love line.

It’s not the race swapping that angers me. They’ve done it so much now I could care less at this point . It’s the fact they used a mediocre, less than average looking woman to play Snows character . Snow White is supposed to be very gorgeous and dainty. The actress they chose absolutely does not do Snow Whites character any justice, she is the complete opposite. IMO she could be Latina for all I care as long as they made her a beautiful one. Least they could have done was that since they were going to race swap anyway.

There was no agenda stuck in there, it was just the straight movie, no race or gender swapping. Cinderella was kind and courageous and loving. The real irony is that updating Snow White for a modern audience should actually just feature more of the prince. The only terribly outdated bit of the movie is that true loves kiss comes from a guy she doesn’t really know and who is mostly just smitten by her good looks. Keep Snow White mostly the same, but give her a relationship that is built up over the film and you probably have a decent “update.”

It also taught kids not to take candy from strangers. Which safeguarded them from danger. Being saved isn't a bad thing either. She changed hearts by her sweet spirit and fell in love. It's odd how few people think about the 'rescue' in this story. Snow White survives being executed, stumbles around a forest, flops into the house of 7 guys and crashes there. Yet she doesn't act like a princess demanding this and demanding that. Her character and her loving nature grow, and the 7 dwarfs allow their hearts to be captured by this young woman. When finally tricked by the witch, look at how dwarfs respond -- if she had been a complete bitch, they would have just dumped her downstream somewhere. But they treat her as the most precious of creations. When the prince finally arrives on the scene, it would be dwarfs telling of her story that make her worthy of being freed. Does Rachel Zegler behave like a person anyone would want to rescue, or would they just walk by?

Who is forcing you to watch it? Also what original work? As a European that grew up on the original work, trust me American audience do not want it. Art is to be interpreted.

Ya know there are plenty of people that work at Disneyland that have to spend the whole day wearing iconic character garb and they don’t get the money or recognition that Rachel does. Maybe she should just trade roles with the Disneyland Snow White for a week and see how that goes.

honestly she’s so privileged and seems to constantly want more, like I’m sorry you standing in a dress for a day and getting paid millions of dollars isn’t good enough for you, maybe you should try being a nurse or doctor and work for 20 hours straight and get paid minimum wage 😂😭

Oh, this reminds me, 10 years ago my friend Georgia White dressed up as Snow White as part of my high school's Wacky Week costume party, and, despite this girl having dark skin like Rachel Zegler, she at least embodies the sweet and kind characterization that Disney's 1937 Snow White had, unlike Rachel Zegler - you know you have failed big time when an amateur highschool cosplayer is able to act the part of Snow White way better than a high-billed Hollywood actress like Rachel Zegler did (and p.s. this was before wokeism took over Disney and the Hollywood media in general) 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

Being saved by another person doesn't make you weak. It makes you human. Wanting to experience love and have a partner to share your life with isn’t weak either. Being willing to stand by someone and accept and support them for the rest of your life is a show of strength, not weakness. Humans are social creatures who give and receive help all the time. I want stories that say it's okay to need help and put other people before yourself, not whatever this movie is trying to be.

The Prince Florian kiss scene is one of the most iconic scenes in all of cinema history, that fact they're just throwing out something iconic just to make the princess girl-bossy should say a lot about the people working on this movie.

Maybe it's for the best they're throwing it away. Do you really want modern-day Disney getting their hands on a scene as well-known and iconic as that one? Who knows what they'd do with it otherwise? They'd ruin it right in front of us

That's because Disney execs (and, some of their share holders) are nothing more than shit-splat of human beings, and it manifests to the majority of their writers and acting pool 😁 Disney... is on the ground now, beaten up, bleeding, panting n' tired about to suffer the same fate as old yeller... not a single one of those morons at the top care. In fact, they're all standing over it pointing their weapons, ready to fire that final blow! They just wanna take their money and run.
