If your kids aren't exposed to age inappropriate content they won't ask for age inappropriate stuff. My daughters friend asked for drunk elephant and a Stanley cup. My daughter asked for a doll house. One has internet access, one doesn't. Guess who's who. Edit: the amount of actual children replying to this comment is frightening. So is the extremely poor spelling and sentence composition they have. Thats a whole other problem, but my goodness. If you are a child do not speak to adults online in comment sections.

Absolutely. I can’t even imagine what thatd do to their confidence either they definitely think they need skincare and makeup its not just about copying them. When i was a kid i played in makeup bc my mom did but these kids think they need it Heck i wasnt even interested in anything ither than gaming videos till i was 16 (4 years ago) and even still i thought makeup more as art and i dont ever use it except for on special occasions but i know that when they added shorts i started feeling insecure at all these pretty girls when in reality its not just makeup they have a filter and nice lighting aswell though its easy to forget that. Not to meantion how much theyll photoshop pictures with a small hint of makeup claiming “all natural” and the unhealthy diets they flaunt only made my eating disorder worse. All this is even worse on tiktok where theres literally pro ed tiktok accounts which is one of the reasons ill never use it I feel bad for these kids social media isnt good for anyone especially not kids

@flameepidemic4839 it's all super sad. My kids are only 9. They have zero internet access that isn't school related that I supervise. No tablets, they don't touch our phones, no social media, no online gaming, they don't even have access to streaming services because we can't regulate what they can get to on there. They have a switch, dvds, and they can watch the movies and tv we bought on Amazon on the downstairs TV. Some people think we are sheltering them and they will end up weird, but shouldn't we be sheltering our children? Her friend is our neighbor. She has a phone and goes to a public school. This poor girl doesn't stand a chance. She's already wearing a full face including eyeliner and lipstick and wearing crop tops and short shorts at 9. Not to mention She's way way above her pay grade on how she sees boys and wants to interact with them. She is allowed over here because I have her put her phone on the counter and I know they won't be on it. My daughter however is not allowed over there. I just don't trust it.

I'm genuinely worried about the parents themselves, think about it. 1. More and more parents are getting biological childrens when they're over the age of 30. (Which increases the risk of Down syndrome and health issues to the child.) 2. There are no stable guidelines for parenting, and schools (both public and private) refuses to teach parenting to their students. 3. Parenting guides are limited and rare. 4. Toxic and fake "Role Models" for both parents and kids. (Example: CoComelon and Skibidi Toilet.) 5. Many parents are morons, these couples decide to have babies when they're poor, interracial, violent, and with addictions. TL,TR There are many issues with parents themselves, because they're abusive, toxic, worthless, have no parenting guidelines, and get biological childrens at an old age, my solution is to leave parenting ONLY to rich, young, wise, and responsible couples.

I’m gen-z and about to graduate high school, and i feel like I am one of the last people to have actually had a childhood. I had super nerdy phases in elementary and middle school, I dressed weird, and most of all, I never downloaded tiktok. Even though I had almost unlimited internet access for most of my life, I believe that the values my parents taught me are what made me who I am. I saw what TikTok was and the effect it was having on everyone around me. While regulating your child’s internet access is definitely a good idea for keeping them from descending to this, even just helping them know right from wrong and teaching them how to navigate the internet can prevent this. It really tells you the kind of parents these kids have.

If I don't see something I want, I ALWAYS ask the employees if they have it in the back or if I can look in the drawers, if they say no or that they don't have it, I walk away, and ALWAYS say thank you. I buy stuff that is age appropriate, not retinol or heavy foundation. And I would NEVER disrespect a Sephora employee or customer. These kids are giving us a bad rep, and it is embarrassing. When I left, there was a teen/YA girl hiding behind one of the plant pots outside the store. Then a guy, likely from that group started to follow me. He only left me alone when I turned around and he suddenly turned. I though they were late teens, early 20s, but I'm in my 30s and people have thought I was a student because kids look so much older, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were from the nearby highschool mimicking some of these TikTok behaviours.

I personally was given multiple talks by my mother (because I went to a private school in a pretty well off area) saying that my friends are not the norm and majority of people do not spend every break going skiing or to another country or whatever. She had to make sure that I knew that people were not as fortunate as I was to do things like go to private school or go to Disneyland. These kids need that talk.

It’s in expensive brands like Lululemon and Sephora and ulta as well! Again as a teenager, I’m not going to step foot into a make up store or lululemon until I’m about 17-16. If 11 yr and 12 yr old kids want make up which they shouldn’t, take them to target, or Walmart to get a mascara and some lip gloss😂

Two parent households, you need the nurturing side and softness of the mother, and the discipline and sternness of the father to round one out into a fully fledged human being. It's no wonder with the rise of single mother households that crime is increasing, welfare dependence is increasing, children are incapable of hearing no or having any ability to resist all these temptations and influence from social media.

This is correct! Most kids now watch influencers use trendy products which then they proceed to ask their parents for expensive skincare and makeup. ( mostly ) One thing I have to say is that everyone has different skin types and that it isn’t safe to go running off to your local Sephora and getting products that are trendy on the internet. You truly never know if they are safe and beneficial for your skin, but most kids will get the product anyways to follow recent and current trends online. EDIT : don’t even get me started on the broken testers, such as drunk elephant. Smoothies is what everyone calls them and it is fine to test out some products but unfortunately kids don’t clean it up causing the testers to be left disgusting while the employees have to replace expensive things at Sephora.

12 year old here. I’m in the ‘gReAt’ category of a preteen. I watch your videos as a bit of guidance on what to do and what not to do. There are kids in my grade, 12 and 13 year olds, who I invited to my 12th birthday party. I am very thankful they all got me gifts, but believe me when I say that there was not a single gift that you would expect a 12 year old girl to have. I got face creams, hand creams and good quality makeup that isn’t made for my age. Again, I am thankful they got me gifts, and it’s not like I’ll never use these things. It just makes me realise that last year, before all this ‘sKiNcArE’ I got paints, crafting supplies, books and toys for my birthday. It makes me a bit sad that some girls are just so desperate to grow up. Honestly growing up makes me scared! 😅

You make all your own choices, but you only have so much time, because you have to work instead of go to school, and you have to pay for everything you want. Adult independence is dependent on so many not fun factors. Enjoy being a kid while you have the chance. Sounds like you are making good choices for you age, don't let other kids change you.

I am so glad you brought up the point about Disney Channel's influence for our generation. It is extremely true, even in my own life. I remember emulating behaviors I saw on television as a preteen. On TV, they played the laughing clip after a character would act out, and so it seemed funny, but when i tried these behaviors IRL, i would be rightfully scolded by my parents for being rude or bratty. I never realized how big of an impact TV personalities had on our behavior development until now. It also makes me super concerned for the generation that had tik tok to influence them at 9 years old along with uninvolved parents that won't properly scold them for acting out.

They ha e been overendulged. And have learned to be obnoxious and act entitled. That is what you get from not acting like a parent. You don't bother disciplining your kids ,they'll walk all over you. I know of a few families from church with girls this age, probably 4-5 kids total. Most are homeschooled but they remind me of me at their age. They probably dont even know what a Sephora is, certainly have no idea the brands that are loved. They have conversations with their moms about getting their ears pierced and nail polish. Most of them use screens, but time is limited and content is monitored. I doubt any have an instagram or go on it. So the good news is, there is hope and no, not every kid this age is like this. I really agree with the last tik toker talking about all the beauty stuff and anti-aging vs being authentic selves and embracing wrinkles, etc. I don't hate makeup, but I use very little, like eyeliner and concealer so I don't look as tired as I probably am. I think its fine to know how to use it if thats of interest to you, but not to unhealthily depend on it. It will be interesting to see what happens in the future when we have this crew of homeschool kids with more common sense and real life experience, survival skills kids and the ipad screen kids and what sort of civil war that will start.

  • @Firstfalconfree

    @Firstfalconfree

Sounds like us. We homeschool, screen time is very limited and monitored, and the kids spend hours outside playing. We read books, cook/bake, milk goats, gather eggs, etc. My 9 year old has no idea what Sephora is, and the closest thing she gets to makeup is a little tallow balm if she gets a sunburn or dry skin. These Sephora tweens would probably think she's nuts and ignorant of trends, but Kiddo can grow a garden, makes a great taco salad, and plays with her little siblings without (much 😂) fighting. There are a lot of us out there! Especially in the homeschool and homesteading communities, but we are also in public schools with 2 working parents. Gen Alpha has plenty of delightful, polite kids- they just aren't the ones having tik toks made about them. All that said, I don't like making judgments about these kids and their parents based on these short interactions. Who doesn't remember the kids in middle school that went along with the "mean girls" to avoid being ostracized or made fun of? It's not the right thing to do, but it doesn't mean they are doomed to be awful, spoiled, rude adults. Fingers crossed that some adult in their life loves them enough to teach them differently.

But to have that kind of a response to an authority figure over the TV? Absolutely not. My son just turned 2 and says "bye mickey" when I turn off his mickey show. Occasionally if he's extremely tired he starts to get upset but not like that. If my son ever hits or kicks over the TV he won't be watching TV anymore. End of discussion.

getting into a skin care routine at any age should be encouraged as long as it is appropriate for the skin and age. A tween does not need sephora, and if they do have skin concerns, they need to consult a dermatologist, not go to a high end cosmetics store.

My mom let me for cheer performances (also kinda mandatory) but then caved when I entered high school. It wasn’t much, foundation, eye makeup up, and mascara. It was just enough to “fit in” but it also wasn’t very heavy either.

My parents have never said no to me wearing makeup, but I have just barely started wearing it, partly because I was kind of embarrassed. But i am glad I didn’t start till now, and that even though I was probably on electronics a little too young, I have still kept my sanity as well.😅

I mean waiting til 16 would make them mad bc of the generation there in I’d say give them a little bit of mascara when their 14, it is what my dad told me and I only wear mascara and highlighter in my inner corners and I’m happy my dad made me wait until then even though I asked when I was 11

16 is kind of old tbh (I don’t want to sound rude) 11 or 12 is a good age to start wearing a little makeup imo because that’s when girls start getting breakouts and stuff and they might want to cover it

Man as I watch all this, I look back and go "you know I hated my parents did this to me back then, but now, I am thankful" as I reflect about how my life is now, and how I act. Side note to this all, it brings up something interesting. 10+ years back had a talk with a friend at the time about hackers in videogames, and it was appearing to be a lot of kids. Both of us theorized they did so because they wanted to be as good as the adults (or older people) ... completely different world, with kids, trying to grow up too quickly you could say

I am a 13 year old girl, and I am so sorry for those people in my age group for causing such a problem. Not all of us are like them. I usually only go to Sephora to help my mom buy products, or just accompany her. These young kids have an awful influence by their parents and social media. The best course of action would be to ignore them or tell them to shut it. And once again, I am sorry.
