I'm an old woman at nearly 35, lol, and I have been using the word "Queen" as a complement since I was like 12yo, because my best friend were gay guys. The best of those friends grew up interested in the drag scene... And it's part of the name ya know??! It's a complement... And it really mainly came from the LGBTQ+ community. Queen is commonly used in aave, and has been used for decades in the black community. Other words that are popular in the LGBT community like chile, huntea/hunty, and gurl; were a part of black culture decades before it was in gay culture. And although I love the gay culture and am a part of it I have to call them out on stealing words, phrases, and so much more from the black community.

Queen is commonly used in aave, and has been used for decades in the black community. Other words that are popular in the LGBT community like chile, huntea/hunty, and gurl; were a part of black culture decades before it was in gay culture. And although I love the gay culture and am a part of it I have to call them out on stealing words, phrases, and so much more from the black community.
