Fun to see 2 former VW techs work on something American. The mix of entertainment and banter between you guys makes for excellent episodes. Paul, please bring your wig to all future meet ups and events please :D
One of the best parts about the 95-04 Mustang GT is that parts swap really easily. If you had the time one of the better "mods" would be to take the short block of a 95-98 GT and throw your 99-04 heads on it. You get the benefits of doing head gaskets for reliability but you also get the performance benefits of a higher compression engine which could put you somewhere in the neighborhood of 280-320 wheel and not have to buy anything special to do it.

Really enjoying this series... I'm pulling for the mustang, but the camaro might have the advantage with the turbo they installed... cant wait for race day!
Great series! Well done 👏
On my 95 GT I replaced the ball joints and I took out the lower control arm to clean it and the spring up and repaint both of them. I also used a wire wheel like you did at 11:50 to clean up the spring seat, and then I went one step further and used a needle gun to get stubborn pieces of rust to break loose in that area. Nice video!

Pro tip on shocks. When installing, leave the strap when you install either the top or bottom of shock in car, then line up and pop the strap, let the shock extend itself in place 🤙
It's very interesting coming from someone that has worked in a RHD market with lots of JDM market vehicles that strut braces aren't just bolt in options. Cusco or similar brands just bolt in onto the shock absorber top hat studs directly as the flex in the shock towers is from the absorbers compressing. Interesting that they make you drill and bolt through the sheet metal instead in this case.
@HumbleMechanic
Жыл бұрын
That is similar in the euro space too. most are bolt on. Talking to the guys at the mustang tuning shop, they said it common for guys to buy the braces and not install, because they dont want to drill the car up. I feel that way too, but not on this baby. HAHA DRILL BABY DRILL

I LOVE THIS IDEA!!!!
As someone who still drives around a v6 new edge these videos make me so jealous 😂
Trust me fellas. Take that rear strut brace bs outta there! It will 100% hurt you and not help you. You need to add rotation to the rear end, not take it away. Lots of mustang guys even remove the rear sway bar completely.( I wouldn’t). And DEFINITELY just remove the “quad shocks” altogether. Those are the little shocks in the rear wheel wells…. That posi- solid axle rear end is all you need. You’ll see…. I’m a 47yr old lifelong mustang guy. I know sn95’s like the back of my hand. If you want to win this thing all you need is this: Stiffen suspension, like you’re doing. But not those stock springs… Full length subframe connectors. Stock calipers and rotors w/ aggressive track pads of your choice. SS brake lines. GEARS!!! Gears!!! Gears!!! You’ll shit yourself with 410’s in there. Even on stock motor… Used supercharger. A stock 4.6 will handle 400hp all freaking day and night for eternity….. Oh, and staggered tires/ wheels , phat drag radials on the rear. No lie, a stock sn95 with drag radials and gears as the only mod can reach 12’s…. ( swap out for non drag race of course) Good luck guys. Hope you have success. But please! If anything, do the subframe connectors and gears. They are literally life changing for a sn95

Imo halo lights look ugly on new edges, they look like the car has protruding eyes and kinda doesn't go with the body style. Maybe the singular halo headlights, but not the double halos. I say put an 03-04 Cobra front bumper and add the DLR headlights that's a nice aggressive look on a new edge

Watching a foreign car guy work on a Mustang is priceless 😂 the springs on the front control arms have very little too no tension on them. Since you're doing shocks etc you could have just loosened the strut from the strut tower and use a jack under the control arm to let the assembly down slowly. Must be a double wishbone thing.

Great that you got Warhorse Racing on your side. For the caster, throw as much positive as the plate allows, plate slid towards the rear. It looked like you were trying to slide the plate forward. Also for autocrossing these cars probably as much negative camber too as the camber curve is terrible and the tire will rollover.
