Who are the next generation of ELITE managers? | Three Up Front

Since Sir Alex Ferguson left the Premier League, Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have been the two dominant forces in English football. As Jurgen says auf wiedersehen and speculation rises around Pep’s future, the lack of an obvious successor is apparent.
In this week’s episode Simon, Graeme and Troy will be taking a look at which managers are next in line to take over from the best in the game. Whether that be up-and-coming talents like Mikel Arteta and Xabi Alonso, established veterans like Unai Emery and Thomas Tuchel or wildcards like Zinedine Zidane.
They will also explore the characteristics that define an ‘elite’ manager, whilst discussing the reputation of British coaches and their lack of success at the top end of the Premier League table.

What Simon says at 19:23 about Arteta going to Everton is just not true at all. He has literally done that exact said thing at Arsenal, with different circumstances and financial backing of course, but still the main point stands. I don't think anyone other than Arsenal fans realise how much of rut our club was in when Emery got sacked and Arteta took over. The attendance in Emery's final game tells the story of how truly bad it was at the time. Arteta slowly had to purge out all the bad seeds at the club and has had to set foundations in slowly to completely rebuild the club. I'm not saying Arteta can go to any struggling club in the world and replicate what he's done at Arsenal, but his ultimate mission was to get us back challenging for titles again and he has done that and that itself should be highly regarded.

I think you should be setting proper parameters for "elite coach". A successful coach doesnt necessarily mean an elite one, and sometimes they do go hand in hand. Im my humble opinion i think if a coach has his team in and amongst it consistently and has a real understanding of tactics and a gameplan, and/or can adapt to more expensive opposition, and shows can consistent progression, that would fall under elite.

Just like players managers need confidence and there is a fine line between accountability and lack of confidence by the questions put forth. I believe with the modern increase of levels of administrative personnel the management or the coach is the easiest scapegoat. Another point is there is only a handful of clubs who can win the major trophies and if one cannot manage an elite club they are evidently less likely to be an elite manager.

You have to give credit to Arteta, Most of the players he has now weren't "good enough" players to help Arsenal compete, he changed that by getting rid of the so called "best players" at the time in Auba and Ozil and retaining the "not so good" players, look at them now, I say he's the model manager and Coach, am still pissed off about Ramsdale but at this point, let him(Arteta) cook.

Its harder to create, then to destroy Its like when kroos is sold by real madrid, or just leaves, real madrid will not have that player that was most important in them winning all these champions leagues all this past decade, since barcelona cycle ended in 2015. Teams are more then just managers, but its upto to managers to understand how football works in terms of humans, and create a situation where there team can compete. The next city manager winning will depend on how he sees the players he has got, and can he redo them in his image of what a team is, and whether he can keep the cycle of winning going, or will it end with who ever that is. Winning cycles have many many factors, and every new generation of humans brings a new way of looking at things, and analysing based on there world view and intelligence.

This notion that Liverpool hasn't spent money is BS, Net Spend is BS as well.. Liverpool sold Philippe Continho for like £142 million ponds so add that to their Net Spend and so their spending goes up.quite a lot and without that they probably wouldn't have got Alisson or van Dijk and prices now are different to what they were in 2015 so if you are building a team now you ae generally going to more spending that one would started building their team in 2015 and has also sold good players since too so their outgoings is good too.

Simon Jordan: I think back to when I bought Crystal Palace, I look at the general overarching direction of travel in the football management sector, and the characters that make up a part of it, who for me don’t have the chops, then if you price in the development of football over the last 20 or so years, give or take, I’d take that every day of the week, and twice on Sunday. Troy Deeney: I play Watford, innit.

Emery has been around a while good cup manager not so much a league manager apart from PSG Arteta is the next Pep in my opinion iniola at a bigger club could do well Xavi Alonso will come to the premier league I think and I think he would be a great fit at Man Utd in the next 18 months 2 years it all depends on how much they have to spend and the situation at the club with the likes of O’Neil Dyche good manager but not a top 4 manager also if Man City are not on -30 points at the start of next season it’s disgusting in my opinion if they get off with the FFP case again but in my opinion Arteta is the up an coming elite manager in the premier league in my opinion I think pep will leave in the next few years once KDB Walker Stones and Silva leave they are a great team but the core of it is getting on in age

Re Player power, and tail wagging the dog. - That is simply down to weak owners. If the Board, say (of the manager) "This is our Manager, we back them 100%" - Then it knee caps this sometimes toxic attitude you see at Clubs. No one is going against Klopp at Liverpool, they'd be gone. No one is going against Guardiola, or Arteta or in the past Wenger or Ferguson. The difference now, is Owners/Boards, do not back the manager.

Its hard for Sounness despite playing at highest level dont want to give credit to Pep, he is poisonious that cant digest Pep's success, he says player, Pep made the players that run for life on the pitch and i am sure with other manager, city wont have success as much as Pep. SO atleast have a gut to digest the guy is genius, and liverpool have spent when they wanted common now, how players have rejetced City, Virgil, Maguire, De jong, De ligt, ROnaldo, Messi, Jorginho, dmmbele, and more, and look how city ended with Rodri, no body knew him, Dias, talksport Alan braxzil said who is he, benardo, people took him left right and centre for hiscelebration as he was regular player Ake, Stone, Walker totenham did not wanted him, can you belive this... Akanji, Alvarez West ham rejects... and list goes on.... ENgland does not accepts good football, only Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal have right to win , SPent and even their manager wins 2 trophies they are legend... ou guys dont have balls, if pep would have taken this success in Spain or other country he would been in golden words but look in england... if this was not about football i would never watch you guys but my football passion makes me stick to as...holes like you
