“Who Am I” Guided Meditation

Kim teaches about the many social roles we play and how they can obscure the deeper knowing of ourselves. She uses this as an introduction to a guided meditation designed to put us in touch with our essence identity as we contemplate the question, “Who am I?”

Eckhart Tolle is widely recognized as one of the most original and inspiring spiritual teachers of our time. He travels and teaches throughout the world.
Eckhart is not aligned with any particular religion or tradition, but excludes none. His profound yet simple and practical teachings have helped thousands of people find inner peace, healing and greater fulfillment in their lives. At the core of his teachings lies the transformation of individual and collective human consciousness - a global spiritual awakening.
Eckhart Tolle is the author of The Power of Now, a #1 New York Times Bestseller, which has been translated into 32 languages and become one of the most influential spiritual books of our time.
In his most recent book, A New Earth, he shows how transcending our ego-based state of consciousness is not only essential to personal happiness, but also the key to ending conflict and suffering throughout the world.

The sooner you don’t try and set some sort of blueprint (religion) for how people should live, the sooner we can create a less hostile planet.

@@anonym2743 I disagree. Looking back at my comment, I think you misinterpreted what I meant. We are all connected and there's a piece of ourselves in everyone and everything. The phrase "we are all one" I think fits what the voice was trying to say:)

@@Feiticeira522 Thinking you are everything isn't you having less of an ego, it is the ego going "I own everything". ;-) And btw, everytime you hear a voice in the head, that's your thoughts. None of this is however a bad thing, every living being needs to have a sense of self to be able to survive and prosper.

April Fontana acknowledge your thoughts as they come without judgement and let them pass like clouds in the sky. follow your breath and all its sensations to bring your mind back to present moment. feel more think less. when your mind starts wandering, focus your awareness and attention on the feelings and sensations of your body. repeat as often as needed. im not a pro, just sharing what works for me. id also recommend the wim hof method.

I don’t know why. Maybe I was just ready. This meditation really resonated. I connected by disconnecting. I felt completely at peace, felt my essence (perhaps observed is more accurate). So real that I’m happy to confirm it openly. Hope the time is right for you.

I felt my formless, my essence, truly realizing that i am just a vessel carrying my shapeless form (carrying my essence, my energy i really don’t know how to call it it’s so intangible) through this world. I felt disconnected, but as deeply connected as i have ever felt to my true self. i felt my essence, my presence, that what is beyond solid form, our vessel, our appearance or whatever you would want to call it. I looked from my formless, from my energy, from my true essence. And truly felt like nothing truly matters beyond that energy that our vessel holds.

Yes, peace. It seems as though I release random thoughts about my day, my body, others, my pets, the future, the past, all the "what if's"...and reach a point where I can finally 'be'...completely present...I guess I would say, it's a point where I don't "care" ? if that makes any sense and then....I reach that point where I feel free and finally at peace. Then images or scenes begin to take shape and there is zero judgment....I just watch, very interesting.

Thank you Kim. What is difficult today is to have a separation between personal life and work life. We bring our worries from home to work and stay in constant contact with our children and spouse. We can even watch our home and dog online when not home. Then bring work home and have our attention on that in between preparing dinner, cleaning, and bathing our children attending to work emails and marketing and such ...

.....I was just wondering, is watching the home and dog based out of fear? If so, maybe meditating on what that fear is and whether or not it is warranted....meditating on the root of that fear...and work your way through each of the tasks you listed for solutions via meditation? It seems that constant contact and the watching are rooted in fear. I guess in a way, society has been conditioned to fear almost everything? Whereas before technology...we had to trust that nothing bad was going to happen...anyway, just thoughts. Take care _/\_

I've been going through terrible anxiety & panic attacks. When I was a kid I remember I could go into a state of trance by going on asking my self this question " Who am I ? "... Naturally I could swift into a parallel state... but I could not contain that intense state for long so I used to force myself to get back to my normal state. Now I find it nearly impossible to do that meditation because of all the adulteration accumulated as I grew up. Now with all my negative experiences in life to which I was probably bound due to my past life karmas, I am not at peace. I can't meditate. At times I feel like taking the medicines that used to give me an artificial high. I need a Guru or a spiritual friend with whom I can elevate my consciousness so I can progress spiritually. At present my physical life is so materialistic that I can't find peace anywhere.

Thank you for sharing all of this. I also experienced terrible anxiety and panic attacks for years. Today I realise that they are just an experience. A very strong experience, but like a bad rollercoaster, they never lasted. It’s like getting heartburn, it can happen, but then it goes away. That’s because who we really are is the awareness that is aware of the experience of panic overcoming the body. “I am not at peace” - but the “I am” bit is always at peace, it’s just that the ego covers it all up with images and mind movies. You don’t have to sit and formally meditate, you can use all the mind movies as the meditation object. Just observe the imagination playing around in front of your mind’s eye. Who is looking? You are the minds eye, you are this consciousness that is aware of an ego hijacking emotions with thoughts of adulteration and karma. Just drop all that. And drop the quest to return back to an intense state or forcing things. That’s adding fuel to the fire. Whatever you put your attention on grows... so there’s no need to resist or it will persist. Allow your mind to continue coming up with all this negative self talk and watch how it’s feeding the anxiety and panic attacks. It’s in these precious moments, that we get an opportunity to focus our attention on the fact that “wow, this is pretty cool that I am alive and able to feel anything at all, even this”. Observe all the inner dialogues as if they were clouds passing by, big dark scary stormy clouds, but pretty much as harmless unless you go out and play in them. Let them be, don’t resist, relax, let the storm in, surrender to it and it will wash over you. And watch it all happen to you. Feel the lightening thunder all around your body. It’s happening to you, but it’s not who you are. You are the eye of the storm. Perfectly still as the chaos swirls around you. You are consciousness, you are already enlightened, all of these worries are playing out in front of you, keeping you distracted and engrossed and enmeshed in worrying about stuff that is only made of thoughts, and thoughts are so ephemeral unless you give them the power of your attention. Don’t pay them much attention, put your attention on the awesome fact that you have attention in the first place. Wow, I exist, I get to experience being in this body and at this amazing time in earth’s history, how cool! In your next life you will be the same mind’s eye consciousness living in a new body seeing through a different set of eyes, with new stories and futuristic mind movies, so enjoy all the time you have in this one. Learn more about metta meditation, use your unique body to channel high vibrations of love and shine out this love to your friends and family around you. Do that for 2/3 hours nonstop, give it your full concentration, give give give of all the love you can muster up in your heart and imagine this love reaching everyone you care about, and everyone in the world and beyond. Give this love to your ego and to this body and the attacks will stop. My mind and body love it when I fill them with love and they calm down real quick when the attention is put on the big picture rather than the silly stories they used to bring to me. The mind and body are here to serve you and help spread the bigger story of love to others. (from your spiritual friend).

@@amomentinnature How do you fill you mind, body & consciousness with Love? You sound so much like some one I knew earlier for years. I had to lose that person though.
