    My Leatherman Wave is my all-time favorite knife. I carry a Becker BK2 when I’m doing heavy work, but the majority of the time I’ve got my Leatherman. I find the blade shape absolutely perfect for whittling.

    An excellent collection. I love my carbon steel Case Trapper. It's always in my pocket and a Leatherman Wave is on my belt. I believe that it is important to first master your bushcraft skills with the knives that you carry with you every day (ie your folders) and then work on learning them with a fixed blade. After all it's those EDC Folders that'll likely be with you when you get stuck.

    Run Level Zer0 Good ideas, I think we should practice with everything we can including different knife designs and styles as we can so when we have to use something other than what we have it does not feel foreign in our hand. Appreciate the view and comment.

    I was surprised to see your Boker 2020. My brother gave me one in 1979, still one of my favorites. That second blade is so useful, and easy to keep very sharp. I think I use that blade twice as often as the main blade.

    kabaruser Thanks Tom. I can never remember the model name of that SAK. Great knife though. Yes the case and imperial folding hunters are great as well. Old Timer used to make a great model too. I think the Boker blade may be the same thickness at the old timer if I recall the case is just a little thicker i think. Appreciate the view and comment.

    Say Heah William, I have similar taste to your folders, I have a Boker similar to your knife but mine is the Stainless with Stag handles, I also have a Stockman, Infact a couple of them both in carbon and S. S. I think mine are made by Case. I have a similar SAK, mine is the Victoinox Delemont Collection 78, it has a liner lock main blade but a button on the handle. I don't know why but last Friday I went to the Pawn shop and both a few folders, Most all of them are the smaller sized, I would say medium. Like a Buck 112 X which is a 1990 and in the 425 Mod S. S., Then I got a real nice Diefenthal 409 similar size to the Buck and a Sharp tm also similar in size but in stainless instead of brass and stag. Oh yeah a Camillus Jim Catfish Hunter #4 similar in size, and a Schrade made in the U. S. A. it's a 2 blade Scrimshaw Barlow it's still in the original box, the Diefenthal is in the original box too then a Wenger fisherman with an Awl and that's why I got it and a tiny Case 2 blade folder, I got it because it's a tiny one. And that Case Pawnee 10 dot fix blade I told you about. That should serve me for a while whittling tookpicks heh heh heh. I stay with my Gerber Multi Tool, It's a simple 600, I have two vintage ones when they were all metal even at the ends instead of black plastic they use now. Ever since a bullet richochet off a soldier's Gerber and save his life or a severe injury, a hip wound, serious stuff, I became a Gerber man. Again, Thanx You.,,.

    Your SAK has 420 HC stainless steel blades (like Buck knives). I heard the president of Victorinox say they use 420 HC, although some newer models have "super steels", and will say so in their advertising for them (to justify the extra $$$ I suppose). I love your videos. Relaxing!

    I love the Rapala 4inch fillet knife. Razor shape, can use a fire steel if needed. lol Feather light. If I'm not careful I bring 10 knives with me and forget something else. lol I really like the Victorinox Farmer Alox for stand alone pocket folder. My only gripe is they need to drop one can opener for another blade.

    I know, I just finished looking up a video on annealing after your last reply. And learned how that it is the name of the game when it comes to a dependable blade. What about just sitting it in hot water, might it soften it up enough to help bend a slight curve in a key like that one?

  • @wcknives

  • @wcknives

    @wcknives

    Evan F not sure. I prefer a coarse edge myself. Seams to perform OK for a mid grade stainless steel. Also it is easily touched up with a diamond stone or a vitronox mini sharpening steel.

    I hear that. Seems the younger generations want only SS or fewer steels. I have a few knives with VG10, S30V and a few older Schrade Walden Stockman with the 440C. I lost the Schrade and Case carbon steel slip joints and when I went to replace them in 1980 all they had was the 440C a sad day. Couldn't lose those knives.LOL
