Now overall I tend to listen to Mariah more because I overall prefer her song writing, production and technician-approach to vocals. But to me Whitney demonstrates something that Mariah never had even in her prime (for me anyway), a sense that she could enter another soulful state wherein she embodies the lyrics. Whitney gave pure visceral energy here. Never replicated

The Waiting to Exhale soundtrack was a masterpiece. Babyface and Whitney were an awesome collaboration. Ms. Whitney left her fans with a legacy of beautiful music.

This performance is 10-20x better than the recorded studio version. Her raw embodiment of the lyrics, hearkens emotion with reckless abandon while quivering with finesse. That dumb a-s audience should have been on their feet after she gifted them with this delivery.
