One of the most beautiful things about this movie was the imagery of a Black woman telling another Black woman that "it's possible". You'll never understand how powerful that is for a people that went through what Black people went through (and still to this day). The Cinderella story is inspiring in of it self. But I can image Whitney herself telling a young Brandy, yes it's a real thing! Us Black women can live our dreams too. And that they did! They were forces in their careers! They really made it!

Skin color doesn't matter what someone tells someone. We're all human and we all bleed red. We shouldn't describe anyone as their skin color unless we're filing a police report or something. 2023 and I still listen to the songs from this soundtrack. People don't understand how important representation is. For me, a little black girl from the projects, this was my first representation of a black "princess " that I saw as a child. To this day this song fills me with pride and happiness ❤

To know the world was like this. I went to a mostly black/ hispanic jr highscool and middle school. Our teacher played this movie for us in afterschool... So when i got to Highschool it was a shock to see how they treated our music and movies...

Whitney's dress is so iconic. I remember watching this movie when I was younger and marveling at her sleeves. She looks so regal in that dress.

Houston was supposed to play Cinderella, but she realized she was too mature for the role. She gave it to Brandy (Whitney was executive producer)..as the fairy godmother the part was made for Houston. This was the Whitney Houston at her peak, vocally and acting. She brought a street savviness to the role, her version of the godmother had been places and knew how to get the job done ( and with a understated sexiness).

The Engineers said that after a long day of recording they asked Whitney to come back and hit the D5 at the climax of the song and she did it effortlessly 🙌🏾

The last "possible" at the end, sent me!! Brandy vocals are sooooo strong!!! The note the tone everything PERFECT!!! They definitely didn't give her vocals enough credit for this movie!!! But she is now getting her recognition after 25 years!!!! RIP to the great and honorable Whitney Houston. I know this was beyond a one in a million moment for Brandy that she will never forget.

This song makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, it's like coming back to an old blanket I haven't seen in a while. I'll never be able to put into words how important this movie was for me and how inspiring it was to see Whitney and Brandy play these iconic characters. 23 years later and impossible things are still happening every day!!

Everyone's here talking about the last big note and I have always felt mesmerized by her diction and tone during the first verse. Pure classic Broadway singing right here. That juicy bite and grandeur in her voice, that punch and her intonation are all worth-celebrating elements of her artistry.

They don't get it sis. They think that the measure of a good singer is the highest note they can hit. They don't even know to consider the so-called small things because they can't hear them. They don't even know that it's more difficult to sing with control than it is to belt with heavy vibrato, but the latter is bigger so that's what they listen for and appreciate the most. They have no idea that tone matters so much. Though Whitney has tone for days, they would never be able to understand the possibility that Lalah Hathaway and Anita Baker have better voices. I didn't say they were better singers, but someone is going to get upset because they don't know the difference. 🤣🤣🤣 My point is, they don't know. They think they know, but they don't. Lol

The best thing about this is that Whitney really was a fairy godmother to Brandy and a host of other young female singers. No jealousy or resentment at all. She loved being a source of encouragement and support to the up and coming generation of vocalists.

I’m a grown men and I love this song. Whitney voice was incredible

As much as I like Julie Andrews's and Lesley Ann Warren's versions of this song, Brandy and Whitney Houston knocked it outta the park. So uplifting and the music is more magical than ever! Rodgers and Hammerstein I bet would of loved this immensely! Best version of their musical EVER! Love R&H music so much!

Autumn Phoenix i know that the rodger’s and Hammerstein Cinderella was on Broadway, but it wasn’t exactly the same as this movie also the cast wasn’t diverse at ALL. Idk if it’s still on broadway but they should do a reunion of this cast (rip whitney) and have them perform this on broadway

Not gonna lie this made me tear up. I’m 20 years old and I haven’t seen this probably since I was at most eight years old. This movie is just so magical, and Whitney Houston really knows how to light up the stage.

Little white girl like me, I was about 7 first time I saw this and was OBSESSED!!! I thought they were all so beautiful! I didn’t even realize anything with their skin, that’s just who they were. And man, Brandy’s sweet voice. Wish everyone has this perception of race! 😍😍😍😍😍

@@pedro9107 ikr! Lol. Brandy doesn't typically sustain that high. In that ending Whitney sustains the D5 and Brandy sustains the G4. If they listen closely, Whitney is ringing on top note while Brandy is singing the bottom (Whitney kind of overpowers her here, so it's hard to hear her towards the very end). In the harmonized belt Brandy hold the G4 for the first 3 seconds, leaving Whitney to finish out the high D note for the remainder of the belt.
